Oh, I think Trey I think Trey could give me 20 minutes of hits. [ __ ] Yo,

  • 0:05

wait. All right. He did just have a show in New York. I just didn't get around to uh to getting

  • 0:12

    my 20 hits. I heard that [ __ ] when it happened. I heard when you did that [ __ ] before it was a drop. That [ __ ] is

  • 0:18

funny. I haven't introduced anyone. This is all madness. Wait a minute.

  • 0:25

Wait, that was madness. This isn't madness. Oh yeah, baby. What do you mean? This is big. Pause. This is my

  • 0:31

fight music. I've waited a long time. Ladies and

  • 0:37

gentlemen, I want to welcome all of you to Joe Button podcast episode one. What What number is this? 113.

  • 0:44

    113. To my left is Maul. Hey, Maul. What

  • 0:50

up? Uh, across from Maul is Rory. I don't like this part of the record. Um,

  • 0:56

and Charlemagne the God is here. The prime minister pissing people off. The ruler rubbing me the wrong way. The

  • 1:01

architect of aggravation. That's me. That's a lot of [ __ ] How long did you rehearse that

  • 1:06

before you started? I've never even heard all of that. Um I never rehearsed thing. It's one of those things I just

  • 1:11

started saying cuz everybody would always say that about me. Like I'm purposely trying to get under people's skin, purposely trying to aggravate

  • 1:16

people. So I just started owning it. I want to thank you for coming here. It's my pleasure. It's one of my favorite

  • 1:23

podcasts, contrary to popular belief. Oh, we're going to get into popular belief. We are This whole [ __ ] is about

  • 1:29

popular [ __ ] podcast is about popular belief. Um, how are you? I'm

  • 1:35

blessed and highly favored. Blessed, black and highly favored. Uh, congrats on your book. Doing really well. New York Times bestseller. Been on the New

  • 1:41

York Times bestsellers list for four weeks in a row. I don't I don't think the culture appreciates that. This guy's media trained. I know, right? I think

  • 1:47

it's great that Well, I got to be media here for telling the facts. This guy know but Well, no. when you volunteer

  • 1:53

the facts. I just wanted to be I wanted to say first of all, you got your book dropped up your training right

  • 2:00

there, baby. Black privilege and white privilege right next to each other. There you go. But black privilege is

  • 2:06

different though. I just feel like it's a privilege to be black. You just, you know, I just I was just born. Yes. For your skin. Cuz of your skin color. Now,

  • 2:12

let's I want to start there. Um I do want to shout out your your uh podcast

  • 2:18

co-host, Andrew Schultz. Andrew's very upset he couldn't be here, by the way. Like like really upset. I just felt like

  • 2:23

I I just felt like it wasn't that we're not doing a Brilliant idiots, you know? I I still think it should be our name

  • 2:29

this podcast later. I don't know why y'all let him change it to the Joe Budden podcast. Just just, you know, but this guy's volunteering more of his

  • 2:35

    [ __ ] thoughts. I thought y'all was a group. I thought y'all was a group. Your little academic tactic won't work here.

  • 2:41

But I'm just saying like imagine if Destiny's Child came back together. It can't be called the Beyonce album. He's

  • 2:47

trying to divide and conquer the same way he did by getting an act on his podcast. I can't wait to talk about I

  • 2:53

can't wait to talk about a very smart guy. Andrew, uh, I did not invite you here. Number one,

  • 3:00

because I had no desire to speak with you. Number two, your presence would have made this a brilliant idiots mashup

  • 3:06

again. Number three, Charlemagne and I have some history that I would like us to get to. You particularly don't have

  • 3:12

anything to do with that. I saw you tweeting that I was scared.

  • 3:17

I think he was shook. I think that Andrew overestimates his intelligence and

  • 3:24

underestimates my arrogance to say that. Either way, we're not scared of not scared of Andrew Schultz. Yes. I'm

  • 3:30

Listen, I'm definitely going to have to hear about this tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be, see, they started off the podcast talking about me and I wasn't

  • 3:35

there to Well, I wanted to get that out the way because him and I just had a recent exchange and I wanted to let him know he's still a friend of the show.

  • 3:43

Even though now if I have to have Let's start there. Let's start on a nice light note. I think I have a better white

  • 3:50

co-host than you. Nah, Andrew Wash is Rory. And what? I don't think so. Funnier, smarter. What? This is bias as

  • 3:59

[ __ ] It's the truth though. And I like Rory. Well, one, Andrew calls himself a comedian. I don't call myself a

  • 4:04

comedian. So, let's get that out the way. Score one for Rory. I might be a bit wittier off the rip. I'm not even

  • 4:11

going to defend that. I I I'm biased cuz that's my guy, but that's a conversation y'all should have with each other. I like Andrew a lot, by the way. Well,

  • 4:17

this is my beef with Andrew. Andrew, and I guess it's kind of my beef with you as well, cuz you have to inherit the beef.

  • 4:24

Andrew jumps in, and I guess it's my beef with a lot of white people that are like that. They jump in on black topics

  • 4:33

when they probably shouldn't and they're not very sensitive toward us when they do. I

  • 4:40

don't you think we should have those conversations? I agree with the uh sensitive part, but it's hard to be sympathetic to something you really

  • 4:46

don't understand, you know? I think his point is there. Why talk about it if you don't understand it? Cuz he's trying or

  • 4:52

even have knowledge behind it. I guess he's trying to understand. I think that's where we So he's inquisitive more than it never looks like he's attempting

  • 4:59

to understand. It always looks like he's telling us about us, which is where the

  • 5:05

defense comes from. I mean, we've we've had I've heard you speak about this on the podcast. We've had those conversations on the podcast. I agree

  • 5:10

with that. I feel like it should be uh less it should be more listening and more trying to understand and more, you

  • 5:17

know, telling us what it is we should be doing wrong. But I do like to hear that side though. I do personally. I like to

  • 5:23

know how uh the others think, white, Asian, whatever. I like to know what they think about our culture and us. Do

  • 5:29

you regret the Tommy Lauren move? I only asked that because I remember you

  • 5:35

saying that there and I I agree and I understand when people say that, but I guess how it was framed, the aesthetic

  • 5:41

of it. No, I don't regret it actually. And I saw your back and forth with Bmani. Yeah. Uh that was pretty well

  • 5:47

publicized. Yeah. I don't I don't regret it because I I did what I felt like I should have done. Like I I told everybody I was going to meet with her

  • 5:53

before I did. That's number one. I did that on the Breakfast Club. And then when I met with her, the conversation we had was me trying to school her to why

  • 5:59

her rhetoric is dangerous to black people. Like we had that conversation. Like she was talking to me about, you know, Black Lives Matter and how she

  • 6:06

thinks the Black Lives Matter is like uh the KKK. And I'm like, yo, that's just not accurate. And so she said to me the

  • 6:14

reason she felt that way was because when she was in Dallas, she was there that night. um that that guy went rogue

  • 6:19

and shot all those police officers. And then she said like her her parents were getting death threats and she was getting death threats and then she saw a

  • 6:25

video of like some guys marching that said they were BLM and they said they wanted to kill all cops. So I understood

  • 6:31

why she felt the way she felt. I didn't agree with it. I only cared about the framing of it. I'm sure y'all had

  • 6:36

productive conversations. Absolutely. And and she told me she's a Trump supporter. So I was like, "Yo, are all Trump supporters racist?" And she was

  • 6:42

like, "No." She was like, "You know, when I go to these rallies, yes, a lot of them are racist. I can admit that it's a but all of them aren't racist.

  • 6:49

She also thinks she's not racist. So she may not be. I don't freak out. Well, I'm not Is she a racist? I'm not about to

  • 6:55

call her a racist. And this is not a political podcast. Don't try to come to Tommy Lauren me to death. I don't care

  • 7:00

enough about that white girl. And I told her I also told her that if she can see the nuance in Trump supporters and she knows all of them are racist and some of

  • 7:06

them just want to shake up the government and drain the swamp, then she should be able to see the nuance in the Black Lives Matter movement. So the

  • 7:13

conversation I've only met her one time to which to which she replied what I don't think she really grasped the

  • 7:19

concept to be honest with you because it was me it was me her and three other white men in the room. I was the only black guy in the room. I was the black

  • 7:25

it was one black me her and three other white guys and the other white guys had to explain to her like it's the exact same thing. That's why that's why that's

  • 7:32

why I think the line of we have to have some type of dialogue with people that we're disagreeable with sometimes is an

  • 7:39

easy scapegoat cuz a lot of these people aren't open-minded. Yeah. But once you have the conversation and realize they're not open-minded, you just don't

  • 7:44

have any more conversations. Like that was the one time I met her in my life. I don't need to talk to Donald Trump.

  • 7:49

Again, I don't care about this. I don't care about this politics. I'm not talking to Donald Trump. You are way more uh much more of an activist than me. I don't I don't talk about this. I

  • 7:55

wouldn't call I'm not going to call myself an activist, but I do uh I do care about what's going on in the world.

  • 8:01

All right, let's get to the important [ __ ] Well, the not important [ __ ] in the world. Get to the [ __ ] [ __ ] man. Yeah, man. Wait. No, I don't know what

  • 8:08

    the Let's get to the [ __ ] [ __ ] Rory, I'm the one that's leading that. Same [ __ ]

  • 8:14

I see what's going on here. Listen, let's let's just get it all on the table, man. Tell everyone what your

  • 8:20

issue is with me. Um, let's do it. I don't I don't think I mean, gunshots, man. I I don't have an issue with Joe

  • 8:27

Button. Like, this is my thing. I listen to this podcast all the time. I've heard y'all critique the Breakfast Club. I've

  • 8:33

heard y'all critique who's the A mic. I've heard y'all say, "We usually critique it in your favor, by the way."

  • 8:38

Yeah. True indeed. Critique. True indeed. I don't never think hear that and be like, "Oh, they're trying to break the Breakfast Club up or oh,

  • 8:44

they're trying to divide and conquer." I like every dish, bro. You don't knock it off. But this your [ __ ] If this your

  • 8:49

parallel, you [ __ ] kidding, man. I'm just going I'm just going based off what I see on social media. They're like, I

  • 8:55

seen an hourong YouTube video yesterday. The [ __ ] was Charlemagne is trying to destroy everyday struggle by using the

  • 9:01

48 laws of power. I think what I think you brought a on there to separate A and

  • 9:06

Joe against your competition. Roy, do you know how long I've known academics? I I know academics for all of y'all

  • 9:12

[ __ ] Like I had That's not a compliment. I've known for like anything to be proud of. I'm just saying I've

  • 9:18

been I've been giving academics advice and mentoring him for at least five to six years. Well, why did you choose this

  • 9:24

time then? Get that [ __ ] Rory. Get that [ __ ] Rory. Why now? If if if if

  • 9:30

everybody's talking about Everyday Struggle and you know some they ask me my opinion on it and I say, "Look, I

  • 9:35

like Everyday Struggle. I hope Joe Budden doesn't [ __ ] it up the way he [ __ ] up a lot of things that that he's

  • 9:40

involved in. I agree. I agree with that. I agree with I'm like, "Yo, I'm I'm actually rooting. I'm like, yo, Joe,

  • 9:46

don't self-destruct this time." What do you think we saying behind the scenes? Okay. So, what's the problem? And

  • 9:52

construct constructive criticism is the only way that show is going to work is if number one, Joe doesn't get in his

  • 9:58

own way and number two if he got to respect academics. That's a very vague assessment. We can say that's applicable

  • 10:04

to anything. You don't get your own. Did you see yourself the other day? You was grunting at academics. That [ __ ] was

  • 10:10

hilarious. You definitely look like a lector. You did look like he was asking to put the lotion in the basket. He

  • 10:15

looked like Groot off Guardians of the Galaxy. And what made it so funny was you was grunting at academics and he

  • 10:21

acted like he could understand you. So he looked like [ __ ] Rocket the Raccoon. Like he was like, he always looked you was at

  • 10:27

him. Joe was like and he was responding like, "What about Juicy J?" Yeah. Like

  • 10:33

he didn't even flinch. Yeah. That [ __ ] was that's our relationship. But back to y'all. Okay. Back to So I listened to

  • 10:39

the podcast uh the last three. Well, not I don't want to get I actually

  • 10:46

started to name the last one the Joe Button podcast, but I decided the academic one. Yeah. I listened to that

  • 10:51

one, right? And when it came on, you both went on to say that you had

  • 10:57

only seen clips of everyday struggle. The clips the clips that we upload, complex uploads. And when I heard that,

  • 11:05

I immediately started scratching my head. And I'm a contrarian and I'm a conspiracy theorist. So I said, "That just sounds like the biggest croc of

  • 11:10

[ __ ] I ever [ __ ] heard." No way in the world are do you have this much critique on something that you've only

  • 11:16

seen a clip of 20 30 minutes. Slow down. Slow down. I'm not even telling you about you. I'm telling you about your lying ass cold. Really quick, I'm going

  • 11:23

have to hear this. Not even 15 minutes after after you both say you've only

  • 11:28

seen clips. Andrew then tells academics that he went on YouTube and watched the whole thing after he saw one of the

  • 11:34

clips. I said, "Now that makes a lot more sense." It's another reason I won't invite his lying ass up here. It's just a [ __ ] lie. A lie is a lie is a lie.

  • 11:41

Now you guys uh are complimentary of the show, but you hedge it something. You

  • 11:48

hedge critique. You hedge it with bets. Yes. Why not? What's wrong with our bet?

  • 11:54

It's a nice little pull at loudspeaker. Like how long before Joe Buddy [ __ ] up every day struggle? Wait, did the pool

  • 12:00

at loudspeaker? Andrew got two months. I got I'm giving you six months, Joe. And it's not even

  • 12:06

really misjudged the market. What does Chris Marorrow have? Who else had loudspeaker? I want to

  • 12:12

know [ __ ] that he talked. And that is why, see, that's why, see, I'mma connect all of these dots. I'mma connect

  • 12:19

the dots. Anytime Charlmagne and I have ever spoken, we have lacked context. Okay, Charlemagne knows good and goddamn

  • 12:27

well that Complex is not letting go with Joe Button in the next two to six

  • 12:34

months. But like I said on the podcast, let's be very clear. I could go in there and beat my dick on the counter in the

  • 12:41

morning. Pause. Pause. But Joe, I said you were not going to And I don't do that in the bathrooms early. I said Joe

  • 12:47

would walk I said Joe get Joe Joe's got ADD. He'll get tired of it. uh he'll get tired of dealing with academics. He'll

  • 12:54

get tired of being in that building. He'll walk away from the [ __ ] That was a chess move that academics on your podcast and you know it. You know, the

  • 13:02

timing of that the timing of that Well, I'd like to know and I think I also speak for Mole. Uh why are we salty?

  • 13:10

Why are y'all salty? If I remember correctly on the last I brought up some

  • 13:15

tweets, some things I said on the podcast. Apparently, I am salty at DJ

  • 13:20

Academics. I think you got a little hate towards academics, Rory. Uh, why?

  • 13:25

Because I think you know he's going to take your spot eventually. Joe's got to do his best for his brand. He's already You think Joe's got to do his brand. And

  • 13:33

I'm going I'm This is just my assessment, right? I love this. I don't know how

  • 13:38

close you and Joe are. To me, it seems like Joe and Ma have been knowing each other for a long time. I feel like Joe

  • 13:43

is loyal to his friends. The guys he meets through the industry, y'all kind

  • 13:48

of disposable. I don't know. I'm just That's how I feel. I'm just in all of this guy's

  • 13:55

good. Am I wrong? He is, [ __ ] Yeah. Rory's Rory's like your friend friend.

  • 14:00

Yeah, Rory's my friend. Okay. Okay. I hang out with him. Okay. Outside of

  • 14:06

here. Okay. Okay. Like I I love I talk to [ __ ] I talk to people that love and care about him. That's my guy. Okay.

  • 14:12

Even this works. I'd rather him replace me if I was whack on this podcast or people didn't want me on. Well, that's

  • 14:18

coming. You're not. Well, he's right about that. So, where am I going to be replaced with AC? I'm

  • 14:24

curious. You think A is going to do this podcast now? Oh, come. Yeah. Why wouldn't he? You went every day. You think him berating him for 40 minutes

  • 14:31

every morning. They're going to come here and sit for 3 hours and talk about the same thing. So, you agree with me? The show will be done in 6 months cuz

  • 14:36

somebody's going to get tired. No, I didn't say that at all. What you just said? I just said, "Do you think they're going to want to talk every single day

  • 14:42

for 30 minutes, scream at each other, and then come here for another hour to talk about it?" The bag. Y'all always talk about the bag, right? We working on

  • 14:49

that. The bag. He did lie. Y'all [ __ ] worship. And you worship Charlemagne.

  • 14:55

What am I lying about? What am I lying about? I wish Rory would stop dignifying

  • 15:00

    this [ __ ] [ __ ] Charm telling him he's Charlemagne is creating all of these [ __ ] Joe Button narratives. I know

  • 15:07

you. Now it's interesting. But even with that, you had said that uh I was on Twitter talking about act. If you read

  • 15:13

it correctly, I said shut up flex. So you wasn't talking about act. No, I said what I think Wall was trying to say to

  • 15:20

act was etc. etc. What I said on Twitter. So you was talking to academics

  • 15:25

through wall. You was translating everyone on Twitter was talking about it and I said, "Hey, what I think we was

  • 15:31

trying to say to act but didn't get across the right." Your thoughts though. You can't run them through on my Twitter. Yes. Charlemagne, there are my

  • 15:37

thoughts on your Twitter. We were talking about act on your Twitter. Why are we Yeah, but you're saying that I was saying that about academics. I said,

  • 15:43

"No, this is what I think Wall was saying about him." Do I agree with Wall? Yes, I do. But that's not what I was saying. I'm going to be honest with you.

  • 15:50

No, no, no. That's I'm going to be honest. That's some sucker [ __ ] Rory. What's some sucker [ __ ] Because what you're saying this podcast, you said it.

  • 15:55

You got an opinion about academics, but you said you had to run it through wall. I think what Wall was trying to say,

  • 16:01

that was the topic on Twitter. That's what people were talking about. Your thoughts. I said that on this podcast as my thoughts. the very next day. So,

  • 16:07

what's the issue? I'm not sure. You're misquing me and saying I'm salty. Rory made it seem like he wasn't talking

  • 16:13

about a Twitter rant about academics saying he's a nerd. I don't read Rory's tweets like that. So, that wasn't a

  • 16:18

Twitter rant about academics. No, it was about everyday struggle and he was part of it. It was about we actually it was

  • 16:24

about I'm media trained. Is that not a media train? No, that's not media train. That was a super media train. I was

  • 16:30

talking about what Wall was talking about through your filter. I want to talk when I inter what I I don't care

  • 16:37

about y'all tweets and w this is not this is not compelling for anybody but the two of you. I want to get back to

  • 16:43

academics. Yeah, but we don't care about what you're into. I want to get back to Charlemagne tricking naive academics on

  • 16:48

his [ __ ] podcast. Well, this is part of it. No, I don't care and all that. Charlemagne know what he doing, man. I

  • 16:54

really don't. You know what you doing, but listen. All right. Sitting here just listening and he know what he doing. I know. But that's why that's why it's

  • 17:00

very important that I let you know that in spite of academics naivity, I got

  • 17:08

him. I got him. I will I will protect him from you [ __ ] vultures out there

  • 17:13

cuz I don't know what y'all schmick is. No, by the way, there's a schmick. By the way, academic I've been talking I've

  • 17:19

been building with academics for six years. I talk to academic all the time. I told academic years ago. Are you a

  • 17:25

friend or industry friend? Cuz I can see y'all breaking up. I don't know. I mean, I really don't know. It's not like we I

  • 17:30

don't hang out with him. He's not my age. Let's Let's pause from this briefly because Charlemagne, when I was uh

  • 17:36

kicking your back into academics, while I was doing so, I had to pause at this very moment because one thing we can say

  • 17:43

about you, you do always give it back. You you you give back the opportunities.

  • 17:50

I'm talking I'm just saying some good [ __ ] about I'm not spoiling right now. All right. Well, pause. I'm saying you

  • 17:55

you give back the opportunities that were that were given to you. Absolutely. And you do it a lot. Absolutely. I've

  • 18:02

I've had academic it was a show that I was executive producing. I I had a show I was executive producer on MTV. I had

  • 18:07

academic on that last year. I mean it didn't the show didn't go but I had him there you know and I've always given academics advice. I remember calling

  • 18:14

academics and telling him he needs to find his own voice cuz at one point about 3 four years ago he tried to sound like me and he tried to sound like Star

  • 18:20

a lot and I was like yo you need to find your own voice. I also told him that, you know, you got to be careful cuz one

  • 18:26

day one of these negros going to press you. That's the other side of the game. People don't understand about it's coming. Yeah. Hope I mean hopefully not.

  • 18:33

I mean hopefully not. Well, it's different with this space cuz before no one even really knew what he looked like. Yeah. But now now if you inviting

  • 18:39

guests up to everyday and by the way I told him this two three years ago. I said you need to really understand what

  • 18:44

you're getting into when you become this type of personality cuz eventually somebody's going to pressure you. You're not going to be able to be behind the

  • 18:49

laptop forever. That's just not the way the game goes. if you're trying to grow. That was my that was my uh information.

  • 18:56

That's his stick. Yeah. You know how stupid a [ __ ] would look to press academics? Yeah. You don't get a strike for hitting that. You think they care?

  • 19:02

Come on. In this era, they care. They don't care. You know how stupid somebody looks pressing academics? Yo, but they

  • 19:08

don't care. You know why? Cuz if you going to give out that energy, you got to expect to give that same energy back. I don't care who you are. Speaking of,

  • 19:14

and I wasn't going to touch this, but now it's in lie of this. Did you know? Did Did you know that that

  • 19:20

was going to happen when it happened to you? Like, did you get a word? Yeah, that's the only one I I know about. No,

  • 19:26

it's happened twice to me. That's the only one I know. I get Well, both of them was on video. The second video never came out, though, cuz of course I I beat the [ __ ] out the dude. So, me

  • 19:32

beating the [ __ ] out the dude wouldn't come out cuz it was on a security camera in the store. Envy and Angela and like G-spin and all them saw it. But, I

  • 19:39

didn't know I didn't know what it was going to happen to me, but I wasn't shocked. Like, yo, there's no way that Absolutely. There's no way you can go

  • 19:45

out there and say what the hell you want about people and tell people how to react. Like people can react however the [ __ ] they want. That's the whole that's

  • 19:52

the repercussion that you just know that you going to have to deal with. I've never been that type of person to be like I'm going to say what I want and

  • 19:58

nothing's going to happen. You never know how somebody's going to Has it altered your approach since? No, not at

  • 20:03

all. Like I happened 6 months later. Has it altered your security sense? Like Yeah, absolutely. 100%. Absolutely. I

  • 20:09

see homie in the hall with the shoulders and [ __ ] Listen, that's my man. That's my man for

  • 20:14

15 years. So, you know, Wax is super cool, though. He's just shaped been built like that. Joe know Joe met Wax 15

  • 20:20

years ago. Yeah. At my apartment in Columbia, South Carolina playing spades.

  • 20:25

So, it's like, yo, of course, if I can if I can put my man on on on a payroll and let him get paid six figures. Yeah,

  • 20:31

why not? Right. Wax got a whole another genius idea about farming that I won't get into. Wax has a farm. I know. Wax

  • 20:36

has a organic chicken farm in in Huie, South Carolina. There's so many hustles. There's so many hustles. He getting to

  • 20:43

the chicken bag. We get to it. The chicken bag is underrated. Chicken bag is not going anywhere. And it's not going anywhere. Be here forever. But

  • 20:49

yeah, it definitely altered my situation, especially to like somebody like E40. E40 is like, "Yo, you got to make it

  • 20:55

difficult for people. You can't make it easy." Especially in this era we live in. We live by the internet. So you

  • 21:00

either going to live by the internet, you're going to die by the internet. Simple as that. Yo, so the situation with Birdman came up there. Mhm.

  • 21:07

Like how did how did that change your relationship with him or anybody

  • 21:12

affiliated with him? I never had a relationship with Birdman. Didn't know him before that. Didn't know him after this. Like they called me 3 weeks before

  • 21:19

that interview happened. Malcolm from Universal called me 4 in the morning. But everybody knows I'm up at 4 in the morning and he was like, "Yo, Birdman

  • 21:24

want to come to the show in a couple weeks. He wanted to make sure you there." Soon as you say that, you let me know that some [ __ ] [ __ ] about to happen. Like I know that. I just don't

  • 21:31

know what it's going to be. But I don't care as long as the cameras are rolling cuz I want to get these YouTube hits

  • 21:36

like Like like simple as that. That's why when you when he walks in the room, you see the whole wide shot. I done let

  • 21:42

everybody know. Revote everybody. Turn the cameras on. I don't want to miss him. I would dare somebody to lay a hand on me while I'm sitting there. I would

  • 21:49

dare that to happen. I'll take it. I'll take it. Record all of it. Yeah, I'm taking a lawsuit. I mean, I don't think

  • 21:55

Birdman is that dumb. I know. I don't think so either, but that's what I'm saying. Like all of that [ __ ] that the

  • 22:02

That's not That's not the witty way to do it. That's the easy thing to say. Hit me then. No, no, I'm not saying to say

  • 22:07

that. I'm just I'm still trying to conduct the interview cuz I'm a professional and people trip when I say, "Yo, you know, why why why didn't did

  • 22:13

you pull up on Rick Ross at Trick Daddy like that?" That was actually one of my questions that I was going to ask him if

  • 22:19

we had did a regular interview. Did you ever pull up on Rick Ross at Trick Daddy? Because remember he had that video where he was on stage and he said,

  • 22:25

"I'mma pull up on you [ __ ] talking [ __ ] about me." So that was actually one of my questions. Well, we don't know that he didn't. He could have done it

  • 22:32

off camera maybe. But I mean that's neither here nor there. I don't even know why you brought that up. I I watched uh I No, you don't know. We

  • 22:40

don't. Yeah, you're right. We don't. Um with that said, I watched uh Breakfast Club today with the mental health stuff

  • 22:45

which I thought was really really great. Yes, it's mental health awareness month. Um and I saw another shot at Joe. It wasn't a shot. He going to take a shot

  • 22:51

at Joe anytime that he can take a shot at a shot at Joe. What do you think? Yo,

  • 22:57

Charlemagne is very twofold. I'm telling you. Yo Roy, why do you think I was? He's this prominent bestselling author

  • 23:05

and then he's this tasteless verbal goon. I see through all that [ __ ] Now

  • 23:11

back to mental health. It's mental health awareness. What do you think of all rappers, you seem to bring Joe up

  • 23:16

out of the whole world of rap. Why did you do that? That's not true. In that they brought up Kodak Black and I think

  • 23:23

you countered with Joe. Yes. I said on a top 40 on a top 40 radio interview,

  • 23:31

you're bringing Joe. I'd bring Joe up on the mental health uh thing. We talked about it. Joe has said he is unstable

  • 23:37

mentally in every record he's ever made. But what you

  • 23:43

he came out with mood music. What? Yo, don't first of all he had an album using a padded straight jacket.

  • 23:50

He knows a lot about Jojo. I should get these shout outs on the Breakfast Club. Yeah. Pot by the way. That wasn't even

  • 23:56

an album shoot. I don't think Patter was out with the Breakfast Club. That was take a Yeah, it wasn't. So, what do you

  • 24:02

think Joe's mental health is? What would be your analysis? Don't ever mention my name buying Kodak Black either. Don't do that. You don't like Kodak? I don't know

  • 24:09

Kodak. Kodak's dope. Yo, I like I hear that. No, musically Kodak is dope. I hear that. I'm only talking about the

  • 24:14

other stuff. I'm not talking about a lot going on with the other stuff. He reminds me of Young Trick Daddy. What are you're not wellversed

  • 24:22

enough in Joe to be able to dance on the am I mentally unstable line just cuz

  • 24:27

I've said that. What else you want me to go off? I don't know. And the fact that I saw you But why not not go on

  • 24:33

anything? And the fact that I saw you grunting at academics yesterday during the interview, which by the way was so

  • 24:39

funny. I don't know why that [ __ ] did not go more viral. Y that [ __ ] was funny. I went back and watched some of

  • 24:44

our old interviews. Right. Me and you. Yeah. Or me on the breakfast club. I got our first interview together in

  • 24:50

Columbia, Columbia on Hot 103.9. Do people know your your backtory?

  • 24:56

Really? You know how they should? Yeah. But you know how I know Joe was crazy? First time I interviewed Joe, Joe was on

  • 25:01

the radio. We're going to have fun with this cuz I'm going to tell you how I know Joe right after Joe was on the radio in Columbia, South Carolina

  • 25:07

dissing Gunit. And I'm sitting there looking at him. I go, "Yo, do you know you got a Gunit hat on right now?"

  • 25:13

He has a Gunit hat on dissing GU. And I'm sure his response, I like the hat. I

  • 25:19

don't even remember what his answer was. I do not ever recall wearing a Gunit hat. Bro, you had the G I got the I got the audio. He had the matching sneakers

  • 25:26

and the wife beater, too. I don't remember. I just know he had the Gun hat. He definitely had the white beat on. I've been beefing beefing with

  • 25:31

[ __ ] for a long time. That was great apparel. Three or four, whatever year

  • 25:37

that was. Charlemagne is at this uh tiny radio station in Colombia. I'm not going

  • 25:42

to say tiny, but Columbia, so I mean it's not New York, so it's a different radio station. And Charlemagne clearly

  • 25:48

had a gift. He he clearly sounded like somebody who should be in a different

  • 25:54

market. And as somebody who was uh, you know, thinking about all that stuff cuz I did the High 97 Morning Show and then

  • 25:59

I'm like, I probably can't do this in another market. I need to be in this market. That stuff was kind of on my mind. So when I saw Charlamagne, I said,

  • 26:05

you would be great for New York radio. Word. Thank you. Right. So then your

  • 26:11

[ __ ] trajectory happens. You end up in New York. Wait, was that Philly first? Walk us walk me through this. Um

  • 26:17

Wendy was before Philly. Yep. I was at 339 in Columbia, South Carolina. Um doing radio down there. And then Wendy

  • 26:23

got syndicated in Columbia. So she used to come on before me, but then they moved her show from uh the afternoon

  • 26:29

slot to like 10 to 2 cuz you know the program director down there at the time who's who's my man actually, Chris Connor. We're on the station now. The

  • 26:35

Breakfast Club is. But he moved him because like he was very popular in the afternoons and people still wanted to hear him and so like they moved her the

  • 26:42

10 to two but they kept repeating the show over and over. So I pick it up. I I called the uh I called Kevin Kevin

  • 26:49

Hunter her husband and just told him like yo they keep repeating the show over and over. So he came down heard it

  • 26:54

for himself went back up to New York to raise hell. And then like maybe like a week later I got um demoted to one day a

  • 27:01

week because it was a club in the in the area that sued me. And the reason they

  • 27:06

sued me is because the dude was putting like date rape drug in girls drinks and taking advantage of them. And he got

  • 27:12

arrested for it. Now it was like one of those urban legends in Colombia like, "Yo, you go to this club, girls be getting lace, whatever." But nobody

  • 27:17

could ever approve it. But then this girl actually pressed charges on him. They arrested the dude. So I took the link to his uh arrest record and put it

  • 27:24

on my MySpace page. And when I did that, they sued me and the radio station was settled with them for $2,000. But when

  • 27:30

Kev heard about it, $2,000 $2,000 [ __ ] dollars. When Kev heard about it, he thought that they had demoted me

  • 27:36

because I told him that told him that they was repeating the show over and over. Yeah. So he told me to come up to New York the next week. Real [ __ ] move,

  • 27:42

Kev. So I flew up to New York and I went I went and did Wendy's show. Well, I did I went to a party she had and in the party Wendy was like, "Yo, come to my

  • 27:48

show tomorrow." Now, mind you, she was a drunk, but you can't tell a [ __ ] like me that. I'm I'm I want you to follow up. I'm going to follow up on

  • 27:54

that. So the next day, I was hitting him up and they was like, "Yo, come to the show." I went to the show for 25 minutes and that night Kev offered me the

  • 28:01

position. He was like, "Yo, Wendy's looking for a co-host." Like Wendy had it all laid out. Like she knew she wanted to make the transition to TV. Like back then, that was like 05. He was

  • 28:07

like, "Yo, she wants to make the transition to TV. She wants somebody to be her co-host. She don't want a comedian. She wants somebody that's from

  • 28:12

the radio club. You know, you fit the mold. You know, we we can we can give you a place to stay, but we can't pay

  • 28:18

you." I was out. That's dope. You know, I recognize opportunity when it's not a paycheck

  • 28:24

attached to it. How did that uh how did that come to end? I don't remember. It was November 2008, November 2nd. The

  • 28:31

reason I remember that is because November 3rd, Barack Obama became president-elect. So, it was it was really just the economic thing because

  • 28:37

that was when like the economy was [ __ ] up. Like they fired like 20 people from WBLS that day. Okay. And I

  • 28:43

happened to be one of those people. And then you went from there to Philly. I was out of radio for like I was out of

  • 28:48

radio for like eight months, eight, nine months. But I didn't mind cuz I just had my daughter in June. So, I was like

  • 28:53

being stay-at-home dad. like my my now wife was going to work, you know, paying the bills, paying the rent, holding it

  • 29:00

down, holding it down. And then um like maybe in like March or April, I got the phone call from 100.3 to beat in Philly

  • 29:06

and they had listen they was listening to me on Wendy's show and they was like, "Yo, we want to try you, you know, with your own morning show." Now, I remember

  • 29:12

that time cuz that's when Twitter was really fun. Twitter was really fun, man. Twitter was really fab was fab back then

  • 29:19

on Twitter. 2009 10 2000 This is Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. 200 10 11ish.

  • 29:27

No, 2009. It was 2009. 9 was like it started popping. Oh, it was a lot of fun. 2009. And I And you know what? Fab

  • 29:33

is good. It's funny you say Fab. Fab is the reason I probably got like one of like my most pivotal like career

  • 29:40

changing type interviews cuz I remember waking up at like 3:00 in the morning and seeing Fab tweeting about Beanie

  • 29:45

Seagull dissing Jay-Z and I was like, "What?" And then that's when I, you know, got in tune and heard the this

  • 29:51

record to Jay-Z and I'm like, I got to get Beanie on the radio this morning. And so I got Beanie on the radio that

  • 29:57

morning. That was a Thursday. It was a no Friday. Thursday

  • 30:02

or Friday? I don't remember. I know. I played the interview and that's when he was going in on Jay and saying how Jay

  • 30:08

left them cuz he was with Jewish people and he was Muslim and yada yada yada. Pull up now cuz Ma get mad. M Rockell

  • 30:16

out. I'm a whole I'm a pinky Smith went from nose car. I got him all but but but literally it was dope

  • 30:22

cuz it became such a viral viral moment. And then that Saturday somebody actually caught Jay-Z at like a press conference

  • 30:28

or something and asked him about it and he spoke about it which is so not Jay. You don't catch Jay like that. And then

  • 30:33

that Monday they was calling me in the office telling me to they was moving in another direction. M. So, so the

  • 30:40

headline became Jay-Z got Charlemagne fired from 100 points for me to be beat.

  • 30:45

And you had Ho on the Breakfast Club before. Yeah. Did you ask him that? That was the first question. That was the first question. I don't remember. It was

  • 30:51

a while ago. That was the very first question. What was Ho's answer? He did. He didn't answer.

  • 30:57

That's an answer though. That's That's a J answer. He just did the whole look like I'm like, okay. When When are when

  • 31:04

are you leaving the Breakfast Club? Not no time soon. I just signed a new deal. I signed a new deal. It's my second year

  • 31:09

of my 5year deal. I signed a long-term deal. Envy, he signed already. Envy, too. We all signed. Slow down. Yeah. We

  • 31:16

going to be into the Breakfast Club at least well into our 40s. I just spoke to

  • 31:22

Eny, too. You're right. You're right. Slow down. All right. He's in negotiations. Here we go. It's a little

  • 31:27

different than every old just signing and ready to rock. No, he's in negotiations. See, cuz the same bets

  • 31:32

that you hedge on my everyday struggle show, which is funny cuz that's just a new show. So, the chances of that are

  • 31:38

very unlikely unless I just [ __ ] it up, which I'm known to do. But y'all now, the Breakfast Club, with all of your

  • 31:44

success, with your different roles, especially with all this extra [ __ ] you

  • 31:50

are doing, envy 2 now as well. Extra [ __ ] is cool now to do.

  • 31:55

How long are we giving them to stay together? Honestly, we don't want to hit with this media train [ __ ] he telling us. I don't know. Even with how

  • 32:02

many people you guys have in Roy just asked me this the other day, right? About what? about them. Yeah, I said it

  • 32:07

with Hot 97 and with Breakfast Club. I'm not sure how long these morning shows are going to last because people are doing so many other great things outside

  • 32:14

of those. And you got your stick is interviewing people obviously. No, it's not. You don't think so? No. I keep I

  • 32:20

keep telling you that Howard Stern and Wendy Williams I learned that from them. If you got to rely on interviews, I'm

  • 32:25

not saying you're relying on it. I think that's your stick though. Trying to say I'm not saying you're relying on it. I think that's your stick. I think that's

  • 32:31

what made you guys so popular. You've interviewed damn near everybody a couple times. How long do you see these being

  • 32:37

compelling? But see, I don't think it's just the interviews that keep us going, though. You got to think, Roy, we on the radio 4 hours, Monday, people sit in

  • 32:45

traffic and listen. I get that part. We We literally go months without interviews sometimes. Like we go a

  • 32:50

couple months without Yeah. without interviewing anybody, especially around the February, March, March era, like

  • 32:57

time. Like there's nothing going on or like around the holiday season. Like So, so you don't think the interviews built

  • 33:02

the audience outside of radio? Um, I think they helped a whole lot. I think they helped a whole lot. Plus, I think a

  • 33:08

lot of the things that that I've done and said on the radio help. I think that made you in particular extremely popular that that specific lane tell him. I love

  • 33:17

I like it. I'll give you an example like last week, right? Uh, Bill Cosby Daughters reached out to me and Bill Cosby Daughters wanted to release a

  • 33:23

statement on the Breakfast Club. Stuff like that. That's a that's a moment. It may not be a hip-hop moment, but it's

  • 33:29

it's a radio moment. That's worldwide news. That [ __ ] is on like USA Today, [ __ ] like that. Well, I was saying you

  • 33:34

more in particular. I think that made you extremely popular. Is that signing on YouTube and watching people noted

  • 33:40

that his [ __ ] interviewing skill is one of the reasons for his interview though cuz like I gave donkey the day to

  • 33:46

Christine Ley last week of Fox Sports that became a thing like Jason Whitlock. I love this Jason Whitlock. He went in

  • 33:51

on me on that on Colin Cow. Jason Woodlock's a piece of [ __ ] We're done with him. But that's just me talking. I

  • 33:57

know what I mean. Like that's just the I'm not I'm not saying that this is the only thing that's keeping you guys alive. Clearly it's not. You're

  • 34:02

syndicated all over the country. I just think you in particular, that interview on YouTube, watching you next to the

  • 34:08

guest, pressing them made you in particular as probably the most popular

  • 34:13

person. I'm not going to just let you say I shoot three-pointers. That's not what I do. A little bit more. I'm not saying that. Well, you wrote more of a

  • 34:20

well-rounded game. You wrote you wrote a book. You didn't say that. This is passing and dribbling. I'm not going to allow you to just say I

  • 34:28

Who the [ __ ] is Charlotte? I It seemed like him and Rory got some

  • 34:33

little underlying [ __ ] going on. I want to I want to continue addressing all of

  • 34:38

my underlying [ __ ] But now, see, now Charlemagne, you're good, man. What do

  • 34:44

you mean I'm good? Joe's good. Charlemagne is polarizing. Duh. You're

  • 34:51

not, Joe? Yes, I am. Oh, I think this is one of the many reasons that we clash a lot. I think we're more alike than we're

  • 34:57

different. So, we're going to continue to clash a lot. Speaking of LA Reed, when I went on [ __ ] LA Reid, if I

  • 35:04

haven't said that enough in the past two weeks, I'm shocked. Why? Why? Breaking news. [ __ ] LA though. I got like your

  • 35:10

critique on him is not bad, but why is it [ __ ] him? Because And I know Rory's

  • 35:16

going to [ __ ] cry when I talk bad about LA Reed. He might. I was in the building just to witness a lot. Are you

  • 35:22

Are you mad? He dropped you, right? No. And that's Are you sure? No, no, no. I wanted to address that cuz he said that

  • 35:29

adding to a false narrative before LA got there. I was trying my best to get the [ __ ] out that building. I was

  • 35:35

talking to Scain like, "Listen, tell me what I could do to get out of here." And Scain was saying to me, this is before

  • 35:40

LA got there. Listen, it's going to be hard to move. You You're coming off of what is deemed as a flop. So, you're not

  • 35:46

going to get your value when you go elsewhere. It's better to just stay, stick it out, see what they about, see

  • 35:52

what's happening. Okay. So, so it wasn't that. It wasn't that. I thought he called you in office and said you were too wordy. No, we had that conversation.

  • 36:00

Okay. That was toward the end at the end when it was But this was after this was after uh uh stunting. This was after uh

  • 36:09

Gangster Party was this was after things were working there. So, uh then he called me in the office, I guess, to

  • 36:15

hear the rest of the album. But Death Jam was trying to put an album out on me when I didn't know like without my

  • 36:21

consent. They were having listening parties. They was doing wild [ __ ] when LA got there. You wasn't invited to your

  • 36:26

own listening party. They were scheduling [ __ ] without the artists. I'm telling you what. But so my beef charm,

  • 36:33

my beef with LA comes from and I get that my tone and my delivery. It makes it sound really personal. It is [ __ ]

  • 36:40

I'm going to always say that. I'm too passionate about the culture. And because I witnessed it, I witnessed the

  • 36:46

staple of hip-hop and all that def jam was be turned into some total [ __ ]

  • 36:52

Rory brought up a great point last podcast and he was absolutely right. LA really did not ruin

  • 36:59

Def Jam. Music really did change. Like you got to think about Def Jam. Def Jam had all of these lyricists. Me man, Red

  • 37:05

Man, Joe Button. 05 it was all about the most significant years. Little John came up in ' 05. like little John. It was all

  • 37:12

about the Laffy Taffy. We was throwing [ __ ] in the air and snapping. LA went actually made great moves. He signed

  • 37:17

Jeezy and if and Rory, what you should have said last podcast was Jeezy has

  • 37:23

said that numerous times. That has come out of Jeezy's mouth. LA Reed signing. I needed Ice to back me on that one. You

  • 37:28

can get whoever you want to back you. Everybody with a brain knows that Shakir is responsible for G. Yeah.

  • 37:34

Well, why do y'all continue to tell me about LA Reed? But that wasn't even my point. at a point I was getting to with LA Reed because I heard Charlemagne say

  • 37:41

on whatever podcast that was compared you've been doing so much press

  • 37:47

so I don't know um and you don't even know I'm about to say so you don't know where the [ __ ] you said it exactly plug media train man so but I heard you say

  • 37:54

that the LA I heard you compare the LA Reed sex allegations checks charge whatever the [ __ ] is to my domestic

  • 38:01

abuse I said that you should have more sympathy I would think you would have more sympathy being that you you used to

  • 38:06

get so mad This is the greatest thing ever right now. You would get so mad at me when I would bring that [ __ ] up like

  • 38:12

that. So, I thought you would have more sympathy for LA Reed.

  • 38:19

Do you think that those two are the same? And then you find it awkward silence. I'm I want to make sure he's

  • 38:25

finished. Do you think that those two are the same? It depends what it is. I mean, all right. So, let me So, let me

  • 38:31

paint it. Any sexual allegations like I mean any type of LA has settled out.

  • 38:36

Okay. Numerous occasions, okay, on these allegations. Okay,

  • 38:42

I have not settled anything. I've gone to court and all of these charges have been dismissed and thrown away and

  • 38:48

laughed at. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Bestselling author, man. Could this be my [ __ ] point with you?

  • 38:54

You know better than the [ __ ] that you spew. You certainly are not comparing LA Reed settling out numerous times to

  • 39:02

[ __ ] sexual assault charges to Hold on. sexual assault charges cuz they're

  • 39:07

sexual assault charges is absolutely the same thing. Assault is assault whether it's domestic violence or sexual assault. Assault is a woman. I'm saying

  • 39:14

that you continue to compare the two. One gentleman continues to settle out.

  • 39:19

One just keeps getting thrown out. How do you compare the two? He's getting

  • 39:24

sued and you're getting arrested. So yours is criminal. His is more is civil.

  • 39:29

And by the way, let me tell you how this dance out of this. Don't dance out that

  • 39:34

corner though. Let me tell you how good Joe is. Joe came on the Breakfast Club after he had allegations against Esther

  • 39:39

Baxter, right? We did Breakfast Club court. One of the worst interviews ever. Esther, that was great. By the way, it was for y'all. It was great for y'all.

  • 39:47

Esther him Esther accused him of sitting on her stomach. So I say to Joe, Joe,

  • 39:52

did you sit on her stomach? You know what Joe says to me? No, I sat below her breast. Jesus [ __ ] Christ. What the

  • 39:59

[ __ ] Hey. Hey, I want to be very clear. I want to be very clear. Number one,

  • 40:05

that was so not one of my best interviews. Number two, I did not want to be there. Number three, I cannot

  • 40:12

speak to my headsp space then. But boy, that was poor wording. Now, do you think

  • 40:17

so? So, so, so, so, so just cuz you get found not guilty doesn't mean something

  • 40:22

didn't happen. Charlmagine, see, this is my breath. Charla [ __ ]

  • 40:28

mine. If you don't, I will not allow you to do that on this podcast. You will not be that elusive. You are comparing the

  • 40:35

two. I don't care about I don't care about me misspeaking on your [ __ ] show. I'm talking about LA Reed

  • 40:42

continuing to pay off. Listen and then court thrown some common knowledge.

  • 40:48

Wait, let me finish. I don't know anything about I'm talking about his knowledge, not common knowledge. That's number one. Number two, now funny that

  • 40:53

you say you would think I would be a bit more empathetic toward LA Reed because one of my gripes with you

  • 40:59

    is you have some some [ __ ] that looked like some [ __ ] but [ __ ] happened. What?

  • 41:06

And what do you mean what? You accused of [ __ ] You've been charged with [ __ ]

  • 41:12

Oh, you mean rape? Yeah. You can't casually say it's in the book. Oh, you

  • 41:17

mean in the book? Like you're talking about a cup of coffee. Oh, you mean the rape charge that I call you piece of

  • 41:25

    [ __ ] Amazon. This [ __ ] Joe, why do

  • 41:31

you why do you know that? What do you mean? Why do I know? Why do you know that? Cuz I've said it. Maybe he read

  • 41:36

the book. Well, no, I'm not saying I'm hid from that. No, that's that's not my point in mentioning it. My point in

  • 41:41

mentioning it is anytime you've ever brought up my [ __ ] do domestic history or lack of uh I'd be saying,

  • 41:49

"Yo, Charlemagne has dealt with women, you just know that [ __ ] happens sometimes." Not that you hit a woman.

  • 41:56

I'm talking about women. I'm talking about women being emotional, women saying something, women lying, women

  • 42:03

like you a [ __ ] at the end of the day. So I'm like, yo, he has to know that cuz he experienced at the same time he's

  • 42:09

saying at the same time he's saying when LA is being accused of these things and they could be false, you should be more

  • 42:15

sensitive through that. I would think Joe would do that conversations with

  • 42:21

women who who Well, I don't know that, Joe. I'm I'm telling you, this is me telling I'm going to be honest with you.

  • 42:28

The most shocking thing about the sexual allegations with LA was that they were with women. Cuz I thought that LA was gay.

  • 42:33

That's what I thought historically. That's the thing I used to hear somebody. Hey, and I'm and this is my

  • 42:40

only tasteless moment that I have here. But hey, Antonio Reed, baby, baby, that closet been open, man. Just

  • 42:48

come on out, man. Antonio Reed, no. Good. I All right, whatever. I thought

  • 42:53

that's what it always was. So, honestly, when Joe was riing on LA, I thought it was two things. Either he's mad LA

  • 42:58

dropped him or LA tried him cuz Joe

  • 43:04

Cuz we've heard those stories. I've heard LA tro them is crazy. You know,

  • 43:09

I've heard those stories. LA will walk in with the silk robe on. So that you're too Come on, man. What the [ __ ] So that

  • 43:15

you're too wordy conversation really was under I don't know. I was just trying to like LA was really telling me to just

  • 43:21

not say no words. I think so. I was trying I was trying to figure out why

  • 43:26

Joe was so upset. And those are two different conversations. If if LA is accused of sexual allegations and he's

  • 43:31

guilty of that [ __ ] he's he's a piece of [ __ ] and yes, he shouldn't be in the music industry manipulating his power.

  • 43:36

Period. But so you do feel like that, but that's not why you said he shouldn't be in Time out. But this is this is a

  • 43:43

new point now. So you do feel like that? Absolutely. When the [ __ ] have you ever said that? What do you mean? I've never

  • 43:48

heard you say that. And that gets to my beef on your platform. I tweeted you last week and I said I ain't talking

  • 43:54

about some [ __ ] characters. No, listen. Joe Joe said something to me about LA last week and I tweeted I said

  • 43:59

I said Joe you don't even you don't even know my position on LA sexual allegations you never asked me like the

  • 44:05

music thing is one thing sexual allegations is a whole another thing why do your tweets count and not mine now

  • 44:11

I'm talking to [ __ ] with you and I told him well he said he can't wait till but that's my beef about about his about

  • 44:16

your platform too okay cuz you can discuss some of this [ __ ] see and that's my and that's why I think you have to

  • 44:22

kind of [ __ ] on me a little bit and let's get it let's get it there aren't too many polarizing people here. Yeah, I

  • 44:28

agree with what you said on your podcast. There's room for everybody. Absolutely. More than enough room for

  • 44:34

everybody. However, I disagree. When that's not Rory, stop it. You know, you're absolutely right. Andrew should be the only white boy on podcast. Well,

  • 44:40

my next point is my next point. Divide and conquer us. When has there ever been an everybody? Now. It's always been that

  • 44:47

way. John, slow down. All right. So, let me ask you, do you view High 97 as competition? No, I don't view anybody as

  • 44:53

competition. I feel like the only competition I got is me. Stop it. Wait a minute. Serious. Oh, no. Okay, I get that [ __ ] author, man. Would you stop

  • 45:00

authoring me? The [ __ ] keeps saying authorship. I'm going really tell you I'm going really

  • 45:06

tell you my mindset. It's in the book. I'm really I'm going really tell you my mindset. And I got this from, you know, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. If you're

  • 45:13

if you're if you're considered the best, who else do you got to be better than other than yourself? That is true. So,

  • 45:18

it's like I'm not like who's comp like what is competition? It's It's people that inspire me, but they don't. You

  • 45:24

know what I'm saying? All right. Well, there was a period there was a period where you addressed them frequently. I

  • 45:31

addressed I addressed two people. I only even take note notice of it because it

  • 45:37

was one of the very few times that I've ever heard a personality on one station

  • 45:42

speak by name, a personality on another station

  • 45:47

on on a compete. Funk Master Flex and Mr. C. First of all, there's no radio personality who was going to let that

  • 45:53

Mr. C [ __ ] slide. All right. He was a serial purchase of a penis. He got caught three different times, bro. Like,

  • 46:01

how you going? I don't I don't know how he could do this and have that LA Reed stance. What do you mean? It's the same

  • 46:07

    [ __ ] [ __ ] La Reed was [ __ ] [ __ ] I mean, I'm not I'm not going to say that.

  • 46:15

But if somebody told you that, would it be a shock? Joe, you're telling me [ __ ] I don't know. I don't know anything about that. All right. You were saying

  • 46:21

about Yeah. And and Flex is Flex is a legend. So it's like when I went at when I went at Mr. C and then Flex jumped out

  • 46:26

there and Flex was like, "Y'all really want to do this?" Yes, I do. Absolutely. We just started this 2011 2000. What I

  • 46:34

got to lose? Yes. I would love to go toe-to-toe with you. So they at the time

  • 46:40

they were competition. No, it's different with Flex and C. They legends. I listen. And the only reason I don't

  • 46:45

acknowledge Flex now is because I gave him a eulogy two years ago and I don't talk to Why don't you acknowledge you, bro? I I don't see the need to be

  • 46:52

totally honest with you. To be 100% I don't see the need. And it's like, yo, I met him twice in my life, right? And

  • 46:58

I've never said this anyway. I met him twice in my life. Last time I met him, I think was was this year. It was this year. It was at Colin Kaepernick's Know

  • 47:04

You're Right camp. And you know, he he walked up to me and he gave me a pound. He was like, "Yo, my name's, you know,

  • 47:10

such and such." And I'm like, "Yeah, I know." And then like 20 minutes later, he was asking me to take a picture. He's

  • 47:16

like, "Yo, fan, you know, we got to take a picture." And I was like, "I'm not taking no picture with you." I'm like

  • 47:22

I'm like, "Yo, you get I'm like, "Yo, you slandered me on the radio 100 miles per hour. You called me a [ __ ] Uncle Tom, and you want to take a picture?"

  • 47:28

And he was like, "No, I'm just saying. I never said you wasn't talented. I just said that, you know, I didn't like what you did with Tommy Lauren." He asked me

  • 47:35

to take a picture, bro. Like, we got y'all rule on the phone.

  • 47:42

I want this tragic. I give a [ __ ] to a time like this. This is ridiculous. Wait, I don't want to dance. I'm scared.

  • 47:48

I just want to make sure I'm hearing things correctly. Yeah. Is that the story? Really? That's a fact. He He

  • 47:54

might He might deny it, but that's a fact. This is why that's funny. You know, like Yeah. Like you check in

  • 48:00

whatever hotel it is, the Rison or whatever and they offer you like a chocolate chip cookie or some [ __ ] You just got to It does something to your

  • 48:06

man. And don't for asking another man for a picture is kind

  • 48:11

of like listen matter of fact ask Scotty Beam. You and Scotty Beam cool, right? Yes. Ask Scotty Beam. Scotty Beam was

  • 48:17

there. Me and Diani are very cool because I wanted I actually wanted Scotty on a show. The same show I wanted on. I wanted Scotty on and she didn't do

  • 48:23

it. And the reason she didn't do it was because of her relationship over there. And I I respect that. You know what I'm saying? But I feel like that's when the

  • 48:29

radio politics [ __ ] up the next generation because she shouldn't feel like she has to choose sides when it

  • 48:35

comes to some other form of media based off her affiliation over there. You know what I mean? Like I I we I said that

  • 48:42

that was a conversation we had in that moment. And it's so weird because we actually talked there for a while, but

  • 48:48

no no pictures came out. Actually, people did try to take pictures and he was like, "Oh, you don't want to take a picture with me?" So it's like I I don't

  • 48:54

see the need. You think it was a setup? No, it wasn't a setup. It's just that I know that real smart had an angle for it. I know that's not real. Like I just

  • 49:01

know I just know it's not real. Like it's not a real situation. Like whenever I hear when some when people tweet me and they're like, "Oh, they getting at

  • 49:07

you on the radio." I'm like, "Okay, cool." Like it don't benefit me to go to

  • 49:13

go at them in any way, shape, or form. I'm still not off a [ __ ] asking for

  • 49:18

to be perfectly honest. That's rough, man. Really? Come on, man. I can't look at doing that. I can't. That's a little

  • 49:25

No, that's why I think there was something behind it. I bro smart, man. No, it's just attention. You going to be

  • 49:31

on that summer jam screen? You want attention? Listen, no. You going to take the picture and it's going to be all over baller alert and shade room and

  • 49:37

everywhere else. You think Ero would post that picture? Why not? Why else would you want to take it? Why would Ebro post that picture? I'm going to

  • 49:44

shoot some I don't think Ebro's posting. Even if he has to take that picture, why would look like a [ __ ] nutcase to

  • 49:49

post a picture in Charle? See, but that's what I mean. This [ __ ] celebrities getting bigger. If [ __ ] are asking him to take pictures, why is

  • 49:55

Ebro asking Charlemagne to take a picture if that story is true? I'm not going to lie. Again, I think there I think there's something behind it. I

  • 50:02

think Ebro had a plan. Maybe the plan was I don't know what the plan was. The plan was The plan is to get

  • 50:08

retweets. What are you saying? I don't think I don't think the plan is to get You're digging too deep into it. The

  • 50:14

plan is I know I know Ebro, so I know there is typically something deeper in Ero when he moves, man. Listen, man. I

  • 50:19

think he was going to have you on a Summer Jam screen. That's that picture was hit in a tutu like

  • 50:27

prod like none of that none of that stuff bothers me. And the reason it don't bother me is because I came to New York in

  • 50:32

2006 with Wendy's show. Left New York in ' 08, was out for a minute, came back,

  • 50:38

went to Philly, came back here in 2010. I feel like I've accomplished a lot in

  • 50:43

the past six, seven years. Would you say so, Joe? I would agree. You're you're you've been in the radio game. I would

  • 50:48

agree. Do you feel like I've accomplished a whole lot? like you know you know your podcast for a picture a

  • 50:53

lot of TV shows executive producing TV show New York Times bestselling book I'm doing okay would you say that I've I've

  • 51:00

I've maybe even lapped some of the people who've been here in New York for a long time talking [ __ ] I'm just asking

  • 51:07

I'm just asking I would say so all right slow down I got to play devil okay

  • 51:13

lap how big the how big is the thing how big is the lap how big the

  • 51:19

who he lapped. I'm not going to name some [ __ ] He

  • 51:24

said, "What the [ __ ] you saying now? Just tell I mean I'm just asking. Do you think so?" I think that you have a lot

  • 51:30

in common with the people that are against you. And what I will say is part

  • 51:36

of my issue with the entire E, not the entire Ebro and Peter. Oh, he's the

  • 51:44

other one. That's ridiculous. He's another one that's ridiculous. I'm g tell you like okay I'll tell you

  • 51:49

another story which I which I don't even understand and I don't even that's why I ignored him. Uh before the before the

  • 51:55

election all he's sending me texts like yo we need to come together and and uh

  • 52:01

Peter yeah that sounds right go against Donald Trump. Okay. Why do I need you to

  • 52:06

go against Donald Trump? There's power numbers. Like what are you talking about? But why would you want to ride

  • 52:12

with a [ __ ] you claim to hate? Like that's what I don't be understanding. like that one. Is it

  • 52:18

radio hate or is it probably if I saw flex out on Mr. C,

  • 52:24

I wouldn't even speak to them. I damn sure wouldn't ask him for no picture. I damn sure wouldn't send them no email and be like, "Yo, let's let's work

  • 52:30

together." That's my beef. My beef with Peter and Ebro, maybe not so much Ebro,

  • 52:37

but a lot of times Pete Peter is they have let uh not only my my relationship

  • 52:44

with Charlemagne, but I think artists having a relationship with Charlemagne affect their relationship. That's true.

  • 52:50

With them. So, so when Charlemagne is calling me a woman beater every [ __ ]

  • 52:56

week on on there, I ain't called you woman beater in years. I mean I'm saying when it was happening Peter is looking

  • 53:02

like well you continue to go up there you continue to [ __ ] with them but over here you and my brain never operates

  • 53:09

that way like my brain never operates like I I handle people just in my

  • 53:14

dealing with them not in relation to what the [ __ ] they do with somebody man if I was like that in this industry by

  • 53:22

by the way we've never played that game artist we've never said yo you go over there you can't come to us they do that

  • 53:27

to us all the time we've never done that cuz to me I'm like, "Yo, the the the best interview is going is going to pop

  • 53:33

anyway." Yeah. It don't matter to me. Like go ahead, do your thing. Like we're going to you do your thing, we're going to do ours and the people are going to

  • 53:39

gravitate towards whatever interview they gravitate towards. Here's a question for the three of you that has zero to do with Charlemagne or radio or

  • 53:45

any of this [ __ ] cuz the Billboard Awards was on the other night and I don't want to talk about all of it.

  • 53:53

You talking about the Drake show? You mean the show that that Drake showed up to because they promised him 13 awards,

  • 53:58

the OVO and gave him all the tickets that he could possibly handle and invited. So, we all tuned in. Okay. So,

  • 54:06

wait. Wait. M is OO. Yeah. Noell is actually the one that sat down Tori and

  • 54:11

Drake and let them out their problems. I'm just asking. So, you say that they promised him 13 awards. Are you saying

  • 54:17

he wasn't deserving of those 13 awards? No, he definitely was deserving. But I mean, I'm I'm my mind is thinking about, didn't Drake say he wasn't doing award

  • 54:23

shows anymore? Like, I need to know when did he decide he wanted to do award shows again? I swear I thought he off

  • 54:29

award shows when they gave him 13. All All of this is great. I But that was

  • 54:36

probably the most successful night that anyone could have in the worst possible shirt that they could have it in. Am I

  • 54:43

the only one paying attention to that [ __ ] custom long john? I didn't even pay I didn't even pay no. He's accepting

  • 54:49

    13 [ __ ] awards in a designer long John. I don't care. I didn't even care.

  • 54:55

I don't care that [ __ ] man. I thought the photo was photoshopped. He was kind of blown cuz I didn't see I didn't watch the awards.

  • 55:01

You know, I was thinking when I saw him up there, especially when he was up there with all the young money, I was like, "Wow, look how Rose

  • 55:08

reverse." Because Drake is the Young Money now with Little Wayne was the Cash Money maybe 8 n years ago when Cash

  • 55:15

Money was looking like it was about a rap and it was over and Wayne was the only person keeping them afloat. That's

  • 55:21

how Drake looks right now. Well, I mean, if you would have asked me three weeks ago, I would have said that Drake was over Young Money and out of here. But

  • 55:27

then the whole Nikki Wayne reunion [ __ ] happened with the no fraud [ __ ] So, it seems like they're back all together.

  • 55:32

He's Canadian, too. Canadian people are very loyal. It seems like they back. Girls from Toronto are very loyal, by

  • 55:37

the way. Well, they're giving their perception cuz they're out together all the time now. And it seems that's the perception. But sometimes you give off

  • 55:45

information without really trying to give off information. So what I watched when I saw that entire [ __ ] I agree

  • 55:50

with Charlemagne. Drake is on the stage looking like that [ __ ] He's that [ __ ] Every award he thanking his

  • 55:55

manager. He thanking [ __ ] we never even heard nobody thank before. So he's looking great. He thank Mo, too. Wayne

  • 56:01

is in the audience looking proud but not looking like Wayne. Yeah. cuz you can't

  • 56:07

be too proud if you're not getting your checks. And Nikki is next to him saying, screaming to the stage, "Well, what

  • 56:12

about me?" I think all of that is very telling as to that entire brand. I think

  • 56:19

she was just being a woman. Oh boy. I just think women do that. You don't knock it off. By the way, I just think

  • 56:25

women say, "What about me?" No. By the way, nobody's paying attention to the three records Nicki put out that flop. By the way, we've said that multiple

  • 56:31

times. No fraud. No frauds did okay. But I mean, for the it had the iHeart Radio stimulus package and it still didn't

  • 56:38

like That's why I'm saying cuz it definitely like it literally it was like number 20 and it dropped like 80 next

  • 56:45

week. Well, that's why I was I was you know, she just went on this whole long rant about what a what a hit is. And I'm

  • 56:50

like, y'all got to stop just rushing the judgment on a hit just because everybody's going to it on their phones. What did y'all What did y'all think of

  • 56:57

uh her opening awards? I didn't even see it. I would have taken the Drake medaly over the Nikki medal. All right. So,

  • 57:03

    [ __ ] I didn't even know. All right. So, let's just get to the [ __ ] [ __ ] real quick. So, nons.

  • 57:08

Let's talk about that. Is that official? Is it official? You really can't. You don't even sound right saying that, Joe.

  • 57:15

I'm not I'm not I can't I can't handle journalist Joe. No, I like it. Journalist Joe. What do you think about Nas and Nikki? Because he's

  • 57:23

taking my spot. Joe's Joe's definitely taking my spot. Why do Why do people keep saying that? Because we're alike.

  • 57:29

Because Because we're alike in a way. I mean like it's just a morning show. It's two totally different lanes. My show

  • 57:35

could go on damn in the afternoon. I've been on a month. Like somebody said to me today, um, why would you tell academics not to go with Complex?

  • 57:41

Complex is competition. I'm like, yo, they're internet shows. Academics is an internet personality. Complex is a

  • 57:48

[ __ ] website. Like the Breakfast Club is a radio show that happens to put its interviews online. If the Breakfast Club

  • 57:54

started getting zero views tomorrow on YouTube, as long as we're still top three in ratings on terrestrial radio,

  • 58:01

we're fine. That's the difference. Yeah, I mean, you can't show by yourself. Until someone over there at [ __ ]

  • 58:07

across the D decides to wisen up, then I'm on y'all ass. Then I'm on y'all ass.

  • 58:13

The reason the reason The reason I tell you I'm definitely not Joe [ __ ] that

  • 58:20

up. Joe [ __ ] that up already. That guy screaming. I'm not done. As a 21 year old, don't do that.

  • 58:27

Joe [ __ ] that up already. Yo, I was over there sleeping under the board. I

  • 58:32

    was doing wild [ __ ] I used to crazy [ __ ] about you back. I did wild [ __ ] over there, man. I've done wild [ __ ] throughout the course of my career. I do

  • 58:38

wild everywhere. But why did you leave then? Why did you leave then when you was doing mornings? Kevin Kevin L told

  • 58:44

told me that it was too much accessibility. Why would why would a why would the fans purchase my music if they

  • 58:50

could hear me every morning on Hot 97? So, I had to make a choice is what he told me. And what's crazy is 15 years

  • 58:57

later now they'll tell you that you should do that to get more 100%. Well, listen, I could I could I could assess

  • 59:03

everything that's wrong with Trey Songs to Kevin L right now. Kevin LZ and his dinosaur thinking in that brain. Just a

  • 59:10

lot of old school [ __ ] A lot of old school [ __ ] but we won't talk about that. So, that's what he told me then. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And so I stopped. But

  • 59:18

I always did know that whenever the rap [ __ ] was, you know, we could go go do radio, but where would I do it at?

  • 59:24

Listen, I I love these conversations about, you know, um, you know, Everyday Struggle being competition. First of all, I think that everything makes the

  • 59:31

league better. Like, I don't I don't care if it's Everyday Struggle. I don't care if it's Disro. I don't care if it's Tax when Tax was home. Everything makes

  • 59:37

the whole league better. But the reason I say hip-hop fans are so fickle is it's like, bro, it's been a month. You know

  • 59:45

    what I'm saying? That's what I tell y'all. Y'all [ __ ] just [ __ ] critiquing me. It's been a month. But I mean, I feel that way about artists,

  • 59:50

too. Like, if an artist got a hot single, you don't jump out there and be like, "Oh, he's the next ho." Like, they

  • 59:56

do though. And that's stupid. That's dumb. I right back to No Frauds. This is the biggest record of the year. That's

  • 1:00:02

dumb. Like, like that's stupid. Even yo, I love guys like Kendrick. You can't put Kendrick in the greatest of all time

  • 1:00:07

category yet, man. Why? I just don't think you can. I just think it's too early. Give him a moment. Like, give him

  • 1:00:12

a moment. I know it's I know it's three albums. Like my thing is this. When did we start saying like Jay was the

  • 1:00:19

greatest or when did we start saying Nas was the greatest? I don't think it was three hours. Unfortunately, we couldn't look at Jay

  • 1:00:26

like that until Big left. Big leaving really helped people look at Jay in his

  • 1:00:31

proper life. I think even way after that, I don't think we start Blueprint. There you go. I don't think we started

  • 1:00:37

looking at Jay like that until blueprint. I think Blueprint is when we was like, whoa. Blueprint was the one.

  • 1:00:43

And then with Black Album, it was the greatest. Yeah. And by that point, you

  • 1:00:48

was the best marketing plan ever. He dropped a classic on 911. Him and Fab

  • 1:00:53

both dropped on 911. Mhm. Blueprint came out on 911. Yeah. And they both sold. I remember they them both being a little

  • 1:00:59

worried in the building that week and it mattered none. I mean, and honestly, that's my like that's my if anything I

  • 1:01:05

want people to take away from this podcast today is that like, yo, it's good when it's more than one entity out

  • 1:01:12

here in this space. Remember when you tried to break? Yes, I did. Don't get mad. Don't get mad. I'm glad you said

  • 1:01:19

chill. Mo want to snuff. Want to snuff. Really didn't work. And that's my man.

  • 1:01:25

Really is a better writer than he is a personality. I tried to use on TV. I tried to use I bought him on the podcast. I bought Reie on before tax.

  • 1:01:31

Yeah, I I know T re was tax was your re

  • 1:01:36

that worked. Tax worked. But tax cuz that's Listen, when I did uh my first season of Uncommon Sense and I I

  • 1:01:41

auditioned all of these different internet personalities cuz I'm like, "Yo, you got all these guys that are funny on social media, all these women

  • 1:01:47

that are funny on social media. Let's bring them in." Literally, out of the 67 people we interviewed, three might have

  • 1:01:55

been ready. not and even just decent able to hold the conversation, look you in the eyes when they talk, you know,

  • 1:02:01

tax was one. Ravy Ravy B was another Ravy. Raven was

  • 1:02:07

I thought so. I don't think I've seen her do like radio or anything like that. No, she's one of my closest friends. Was

  • 1:02:13

good in the room. Other than that, nobody like honestly nobody. I've said on this podcast, it's much it's easy to

  • 1:02:19

be funny on Twitter. It's hard to do. You got to be quick on a podcast, radio like Yeah. They don't really speak to

  • 1:02:24

people in real life. Back to my we act point. A lot of people just live in their phone and live online. They're

  • 1:02:29

introverts, which is totally fine, but you can't come out in this world and think you're going to be amazing and [ __ ] on people that do this every day. I

  • 1:02:35

brought academics in when I first started on Common Sense. Didn't it didn't work. It didn't translate in the

  • 1:02:40

room. He was okay. He wasn't like he was he's more he's a lot more vocal now. Of I mean it takes people time, but I mean

  • 1:02:46

the people we had on that show, you had Tax on that show. We had Dies and Maro. I like them. They do a great job. Zory

  • 1:02:51

Hall who's on the E network now. Like that's why it bugs me out when people like, "Oh, you you hating on academics."

  • 1:02:57

    Uh Mo and I didn't get a call. But that's fine. No, I I just I just I I

  • 1:03:03

just started hearing about Mo. By the way, Maul is what makes this podcast like he was the missing piece. Absolutely. He's the I couldn't wait to

  • 1:03:09

fire Marissa. Thank you. I appreciate that. See, you heard what he just said. And you wonder why I think everyday scrub won't matter. He got rid of

  • 1:03:16

Marissa. So I thought Marissa Charm, let me be very clear. Before before academics did your podcast, I told him

  • 1:03:23

if I hear something I do not like, I'm getting you fired. I don't like anything. I'm not with the shits. I'm

  • 1:03:30

not with the shits. Joe doesn't like I'm not with insubordination or people interrupting the [ __ ] plan and the

  • 1:03:37

journey. You know, Marissa had to go. Don't do that. I I didn't even say anything. I bought Marissa in too. I had

  • 1:03:42

the same show I had uh I had acting academics in. I had Marissa in. I had

  • 1:03:48

her I had her come audition the show I wanted Scotty for I think it's a big mistake hot letting Scotty walk out the door I said to jump back to jump back to

  • 1:03:55

radio that is a big mistake but you know I'm having a a private conversation with Envy that I probably supposed to talk

  • 1:04:01

about but Envy has been vocal about you know how hot treated him on the way out

  • 1:04:07

a lot of people have been vocal about well I'm not sure what maybe Diani wanted to leave and was like I don't

  • 1:04:12

care about the bag but I would have thrown she's been there forever she's obviously very much in touch with what's

  • 1:04:18

going on right now. You can't get rid of attractive. She's perfect to blend into

  • 1:04:23

her own show. I mean, I don't I I just recently started talking to her. I started talking to her at that Kylin Kaepernick thing, but I don't talk to her on the regular. What What were they

  • 1:04:29

offering her? I don't know. I don't know. I have no idea. Like, why did she I wouldn't have let her leave. I don't

  • 1:04:35

know. She didn't go anywhere. No, she went somewhere. But, I mean, that's not for me to say. Announced it or not. So, that's not for me to say. It's for her

  • 1:04:41

to say, but is it going to be in New York? Yeah. That's not for me to say. Where does that go other than Power? I

  • 1:04:46

haven't heard. Well, don't don't say that cuz it was a complex. She She could have went to Everyday Struggle. You don't know. No, she didn't come to

  • 1:04:51

Everyday Struggle. She didn't return my text when I was looking for a moderator. What do you want me to do? I don't chase

  • 1:04:56

people. I don't chase people. No, this before we had a desk. Complex was trying to [ __ ]

  • 1:05:02

shove a a penis between me and academics. Pause. I'm like, fam, we've There's never been a male moderator

  • 1:05:08

anywhere. We've never seen a male moderator anywhere in the world. I'll tell you, man. The chief the chief be

  • 1:05:14

having to work. Who is the dude? I'm going edit the I don't know what the chief listen. I'm going to have somebody edit the [ __ ] out that [ __ ] and I'm

  • 1:05:19

going to have you say LA Reed tried to shove a penis. That's what the [ __ ] I'mma do.

  • 1:05:24

That's what the [ __ ] I'm going to do. What What is happening with Uncommon Sense now? We just finished the third

  • 1:05:30

season. I mean to be honest with you, I don't know. I mean this it'll be the fifth season cuz I did two seasons of Charlemagne and Friends and then three

  • 1:05:36

season [ __ ] leaving the record. Three season. He won't be honest. Listen, why would I leave a record? Listen, if you look at

  • 1:05:42

people that's really getting that bag, Ryan Serest, Steve Harvey, they still get up and do their morning radio show

  • 1:05:47

every day. Like, radio still provides a level of intimacy that you can't get anywhere else. Radio is what helps Steve

  • 1:05:53

Harvey promote his 10 other TV shows and his books and everything else. Like, I'm

  • 1:05:58

not going to leave radio. Ryan Serest is doing Well, I didn't say leave radio. Don't put words in my mouth. I said the

  • 1:06:04

Breakfast Club. Well, if they come and off you if they come and off you not I'm not saying you leave on like some disharmonious note. if they come and

  • 1:06:11

offer you your own your own slot or your own show or just because I'm sure you

  • 1:06:16

have aspirations of you're not going to do that. You're going to try to finagle both. You already spread wide, spread

  • 1:06:22

thin. This is the thing, right? Um Breakfast Club is a unique situation cuz I feel like that's probably the only show in the market where everybody has

  • 1:06:28

equal billing. Like it's not like even though people may No, people may look at me and say, "Oh, he's doing the most."

  • 1:06:34

But it's still DJ Envy, Angelie, Charlemagne the God. It's not like it's the Breakfast Club. DJ Envy's breakfast

  • 1:06:40

club or Charlemagne's breakfast club. What happened to G-Spin? G-spin quit. Gpin works for UTA which is He's my

  • 1:06:45

agent now at UTA actually. He's my agent at UTA. He got that agent back. I need the bag before he get the

  • 1:06:52

bag. That's That's my man though. G-pin is the reason is Yeah, he's Rory. Like Rory like a lot. If Gpin was a gremlin

  • 1:07:00

and he got wet, Rory would pop off. Like like that's the true GP is who Rory

  • 1:07:06

would be if he would grow up and stop drinking. Why would I do that? I don't Yeah, I don't know. Gpin is the reason the

  • 1:07:11

Breakfast Club is together. I know. Gpin handpicked everybody. I I know. He told me all about it. Like this whole the

  • 1:07:18

whole power lineup from Pro Style to Self. I think everybody but Clue. He called me I was in Boston. I was

  • 1:07:24

performing uh and he was out there and we we did dinner and he was trying to he told me about the idea. And I said,

  • 1:07:30

"It's amazing cuz y'all three are great." And he was trying to come up with a name and he said, "I'm thinking Breakfast Club." I was

  • 1:07:36

like, "Oh, little do I know that shit's a hit." That [ __ ] was better than if I

  • 1:07:42

would have heard that from RIP. I mean, that's a little from the RIP. I was like, I love the three of them, but the

  • 1:07:47

Breakfast Club, I I wanted to be Illuminati in the morning. Oh, yeah. I

  • 1:07:52

see where he was at. Gman was there. Thank God for glad that

  • 1:07:58

    didn't work. I wanted to be Illuminati in the morning cuz I just I just like to [ __ ] with I like to [ __ ] with the internet. So I that I know that [ __ ]

  • 1:08:04

would have [ __ ] with people. Tell me how much it cannot be said because Angela Ye works at record labels. Let's

  • 1:08:10

get to it. I mean I don't know. Oh my [ __ ] god. As far as she's concerned, I don't know. Listen, you know Angela Ye

  • 1:08:17

    is politically correct like a [ __ ] I know that. You know that. But that don't got nothing to do with me. I don't give a [ __ ] I don't

  • 1:08:23

have no ties with no record labels. Tell me about this Revolt partnership. Let's hear about that partner, man.

  • 1:08:30

Listen, everybody knows I hate Revolt. I say that on air. I don't I don't know that. I say it on air. Our audience our

  • 1:08:35

audience don't listen to the air. Tell us. Well, man, I mean, it's just they Why you hate Revolt? Because they don't

  • 1:08:41

pay us [ __ ] That's why is that that's that's the bottom line. They don't pay us nothing. And it's just like I'm not

  • 1:08:48

even really supposed to be talking [ __ ] about them actually. But that's I would think that's that's not supposed to be that was a memo that came that was a

  • 1:08:53

memo that came like a month ago. Like please stop talking [ __ ] about Hey Puff, I don't know if you know but that is the

  • 1:08:59

word on revolt. They don't pay nobody. That [ __ ] ain't really getting that [ __ ] the deck over there. And then plus

  • 1:09:05

    I just I don't know. I don't I I don't see what they do for the brand. That's just me personally. You know what I'm saying? I I just I don't see how Revolt

  • 1:09:11

uh lifts up the brand of The Breakfast Club personally and put you on TV. I'm not going to lie. The Revolt has a lot

  • 1:09:17

of shows that that are right though. Like I've seen I've seen like documentaries and stuff on on Revolt

  • 1:09:23

that I didn't never even know. Well, good Mar you make me feel better about being on Revolt. No, I'm just saying.

  • 1:09:29

That's one of the only channels that still shows like videos. Yeah, cuz I don't I thought nobody watches Revolt except for French Montana Cassie. No, I

  • 1:09:36

definitely I definitely watch it. I don't know how you get it. Is it part of a I personally would want them to do

  • 1:09:42

more for us? Like I want I want if anything I want Puff to promote Revolt the way he promotes Sak or anything else. Do you see do you honestly think

  • 1:09:48

Puff promotes Revolt? Well, there's got to be a reason there cuz Puff would never not promote something. I don't see it. Puff is the ultimate marketer. Like

  • 1:09:56

I learned from Puff and Khaled. Like you got to have a that you got to have a DJ Khaled level of annoyance. A Puff level

  • 1:10:02

of annoyance when you're promoting something. Everyone simmer down. I might have a revolt bag being negotiated down

  • 1:10:09

for the podcast. You better talk to No. No, not for the podcast. Everyone simmer down. I got big plans here. don't have

  • 1:10:16

to these two [ __ ] You think I'm taking the free will with me? Mo just started being on time two weeks ago. I'm

  • 1:10:21

going to give this [ __ ] a job. But it works though. It works. So, I mean, yeah, it's a I mean, it's just it's a partnership, but

  • 1:10:28

it's like they don't really pay us nothing and they don't promote us. So, why should I be happy about being on

  • 1:10:33

    Revolt? Me? I mean, I'm saying I had a [ __ ] point I was getting to. You [ __ ] made me

  • 1:10:39

[ __ ] like you like why? Like, why should I be happy to be on Revolt? Like, cuz they put you on TV. I'm signed to Viacom. I I'm on TV a lot, Rory. Why

  • 1:10:47

didn't Viacom do give you guys the bag instead of Revolt? They I don't know. It's a good question. What do you think

  • 1:10:53

that Revolt Do you think that they have uh watered down Nory [ __ ] Watered down

  • 1:11:01

    Nory [ __ ] I mean, I don't know cuz I don't watch it on Revolt. So, I don't know. Like, I still get uh I still get

  • 1:11:06

re I still listen to Drink Champs on on iTunes. By the way, Nory's podcast is

  • 1:11:12

interesting to me cuz it makes me wonder like um Nori is interesting. No, that's my guy. Nor's amazing. That's my I'm in

  • 1:11:17

business. I'm in great I'm in super business with Nori. Like me and Nory got a couple TV projects in the works. What

  • 1:11:23

you [ __ ] doing over there? I'm in I'm I'm executive producing a couple shows for Nori. That's not a secret. With with

  • 1:11:29

Revolt. Definitely not with Revolt. I always said Nory and Ghost Face need a television show. Ghost is my favorite

  • 1:11:34

rapper of all time. He's a great personality though. He needs a television show. Nor got a couple shows coming. One one is already green lit.

  • 1:11:42

Nor is a star. That'll be announced soon. And uh the other one we about to shoot the pilot for. Yeah. Oh man.

  • 1:11:48

Absolutely. I got to hurry up. I got I got to hurry up and get the moving, man. I'm not [ __ ] are taking the rapper

  • 1:11:54

journalist slots. My focus is different. My focus is like I want to I like being behind the

  • 1:11:59

scenes. I like doing the executive producing thing. I like finding new talent, finding new new people. I like

  • 1:12:05

throwing assists way more than I like scoring points. I've always rather get paid more than anybody. Well, speaking of speaking of uh behind the scenes

  • 1:12:11

[ __ ] and we brushed over it, but I want to get everybody's thoughts on on we talked about LA Reed, but the Khaled

  • 1:12:17

move uh about him eyeing that executive. I don't think that'll be good. I think that I said that on breakfast this

  • 1:12:22

morning. I don't think Give me the back. I don't know what you're talking about. He wants to be LA Reed. He wants that job. I don't think that's a good idea. I

  • 1:12:28

don't think it's a good idea when somebody who's that active wants to be his job. I don't know if he had the time

  • 1:12:34

to do all that. I just don't think you can. I don't think you can do that job with integrity when you're still It's a

  • 1:12:39

conflict of interest. Absolutely. I I don't see it. Definitely. I don't see it.

  • 1:12:45

But still, would we like to see him get I'm not I'm just saying it might make

  • 1:12:50

for some real interesting theater over there. I'm all for that. It would behoove Epic because I don't think

  • 1:12:56

anyone has more relationships than DJ Khaled to get people to sign over there and Khaled is like, I'm the one that's

  • 1:13:02

in charge. As a rapper, I might want to do I like seeing anybody from the culture get in those positions of power. Especially Khaled. Khaled came from

  • 1:13:08

radio. Don't ever get [ __ ] up. And also Khaled cares. I like people that care. That are in charge. How do y'all

  • 1:13:14

know all of this stuff about these people? How do you just say that so adamantly?

  • 1:13:19

    Cares. You wouldn't think a lot of industry. I don't though. I really don't

  • 1:13:25

if cares. I don't know. But you always saying I got industry

  • 1:13:30

connects relationship. He's about to growl. No. know what it is more you you got some industry connects but Rory got

  • 1:13:37

like some you know Rory used to work at label he got some label [ __ ] going on that worked at labels don't work

  • 1:13:43

there anymore you are industry out I'm not you are you are you are very

  • 1:13:49

industried out I can just hear it in your voice like you're the next wave of like the white guys in the industry the

  • 1:13:55

Joey I haven't worked at a label the next white wave you are the

  • 1:14:02

Next wave. You are the next wave. I love what you Listen, I love what y'all doing with Henny Palooa. That's a whole

  • 1:14:08

different Irish Nasty is killing [ __ ] Irish Nasty. Okay. Well, with that, I care. So, I'd be happy if I was in

  • 1:14:15

    charge of a label cuz I give a [ __ ] about this. And I think Khaled has proven that he gives a [ __ ] about artists first. I think it's I think it's

  • 1:14:22

hard to care when you're very ind industry, man. I'm going to tell you why. Cuz I think you care more about the relationships than you do the actual

  • 1:14:27

culture. Not saying you in general, but I think a lot of people get in these positions and they really care about their relationships more than they care

  • 1:14:33

about the culture. That's why I always say I rather be of the people than be of the industry. Cuz when you of the industry, you got to play that

  • 1:14:39

[ __ ] game. You going to worry about who you offend. You going to want to get invited to the album release parties and all that [ __ ] I've

  • 1:14:45

never played that game even now. That's why I That's why you guys think I'm industry. I ain't been to an industry

  • 1:14:50

event in 5 years. I definitely saw you at a big showing uh listening party that I shouldn't have been at. You never

  • 1:14:56

should have been there. You was outside. You at Big Sean listen it was uh it was down there whatever street that is where

  • 1:15:03

where is that at club that I hate Griffin down the block from Griffin down the block daytime. I don't remember that

  • 1:15:08

but I might I might have been at the Big Sean listening party cuz I think Big Sean's the dopest rapper out right now.

  • 1:15:14

I saw y'all argue debating that on Everyday Struggle and I'm like why? Like y'all was like is Kendrick the best? I like Kendrick don't get me wrong but I

  • 1:15:20

think why you think Sean? Because I think deliverywise, I think ball for ball, I think the way he flips different

  • 1:15:26

flows, I think Big Sean is the best. First of all, we got to stop sleeping on Detroit MC's. Like we always talk about sleep on Detroit MC.

  • 1:15:34

Only your top 40 people sleep on I don't think people put Detroit MC's into that conversation. They talk about New York,

  • 1:15:40

they talk about Philly, they talk about C. Detroit got some of the best. Am I talking about I'm not talking about

  • 1:15:45

Philly before Detroit. Let's rank where Detroit is. I'm not I'm talking about

  • 1:15:50

New York, LA. I'm and Detroit. I'm putting Detroit

  • 1:15:56

over LA. Talk about just rappers. I'm not putting Detroit over LA. Just rappers. I can take I can take two

  • 1:16:01

rappers right now. Royce Royce and Eminem. I'm adding Elz.

  • 1:16:08

Between those three MC's, I'm picking Detroit. And by the way, wasn't exhibit born in Detroit? Even though Jersey, I'm taking Me, Tre, and Red Man, too. I'm

  • 1:16:15

not mad at them. Elz, M, and Royce is a tough That's a tough three. to go against. I just I just if you put

  • 1:16:20

everybody in their prime, this is this is a good actual conversation, but Detroit is high. I don't know who sleeps on on Detroit. And I think Shawn is the

  • 1:16:27

next wave of of of great Detroit MC's. I just don't think Shawn has Oh, and Sean is there now. Sean Shawn doesn't have

  • 1:16:32

that hype beast. Stop it. Sean doesn't have that hype beast thing behind him. Danny Brown.

  • 1:16:39

Danny's nice. Danny, but that's the era we live in. We live in that era like if somebody like Kendrick says he's dropping a project, everybody goes

  • 1:16:44

crazy. Already says it's a classic before they hear it. Same thing with JCole. Same thing with Drake. Like those three have a certain cache that the W

  • 1:16:51

the Shawn don't have. But honestly, we Sean Sean does not have an album as good

  • 1:16:57

as a W album. Shawn does not have an album as good as a Kendrick album. I agree with Kendrick. W I think he got he

  • 1:17:03

got a couple. You got Sean Sean's best album. I decided I decided is his best work. I like beautiful uh dark twisted

  • 1:17:10

sky fantasy, whatever that [ __ ] was called. Wait, where's the other one with blessings on it and all of that? Oh, my

  • 1:17:16

dark paradise. My dark side paradise. Yeah, that would be his best one in my opinion. No, I didn't. I decided is is

  • 1:17:22

really good. No, I like I decided, but I think the other one I think Detroit the mixtape is his best work period. But I

  • 1:17:28

think what happened with Sean was in the building of Cole, Kendrick and D. Well, Drake's kind of poppy, so that don't

  • 1:17:33

really count. He put out Hall of Fame and in that instance, Kendrick and Cole put out amazing projects. So, I think

  • 1:17:39

Sean got and a lot of people took Shawn's flow, including Drake, of course. Is going down. You're right. No,

  • 1:17:47

you're you're right. But that's Sean's fault for not highlighting that. He should highlight that. More [ __ ] would

  • 1:17:53

recognize it if he said that. But but because Drake is the biggest [ __ ] in the world, Sean is not going to say

  • 1:17:58

that. But who don't know that? That that's big Sean flow. I think Drake uh credited Sean. He did credit Sean. I

  • 1:18:04

just think Sean right now, if you listen to I Decided, Sean is doing flows that other rappers just aren't doing. I think

  • 1:18:10

Sean Sean he he's telling you for a while where I think those core fan bases

  • 1:18:15

started. Sean did Finally Famous which was great and had hits but Hall of Fame came and it just was a dud to a lot of

  • 1:18:21

people. You put out two dope projects since then. But I'm saying people already get in their I love this artist. So they were with Kendrick and they were

  • 1:18:27

with Cole and Sean just got left behind in that room because of that album. I think that's a great point you bring up and that's what I said. It's a hate

  • 1:18:32

beast thing cuz you got cuz you got dope you got dudes like Vince Staples that are dope as [ __ ] out here. Somebody asked me that today. I'm like, yo, I

  • 1:18:38

don't know. I don't know if Vince would ever really get to that level simply because if you don't get that energy

  • 1:18:43

behind you early, it's it's like you don't get it later for whatever reason. I think that Vince I think his uh his

  • 1:18:49

greatest talent apparently is not going to have anything to do with music at some point. That's how much that's how

  • 1:18:55

    he has a media. He's very well spoken, great opinions. He's the [ __ ] that I

  • 1:19:00

look at and say, "All right, I got to watch him. [ __ ] He can rap too. He can really rap. Oh, no. He raps really well.

  • 1:19:06

But I'm talking about the same way I say to Charlamagne. We have existing whatever because we're kind of alike. I

  • 1:19:12

look at Vince. He's the only other rapper that's just going to say it. He's just going to say it. He don't care.

  • 1:19:18

He's just going to say it. He's going to word himself. Well, he's not Yeah, he's not politically correct at all. But

  • 1:19:23

yeah, you probably And he's nice and nice. But but to bring it home, you probably did see me at a Big Sean listening party cuz I actually like Big

  • 1:19:29

Sean. Like he's dope to me. He's the best rapper out right now to me. Not saying he makes the best albums. Not

  • 1:19:36

saying any of that, but he's the best rapper cuz I'm looking at their last few projects. You think he raps better than Kendrick? I think he's right there with

  • 1:19:42

him, my brother. No. Does he rap better? Right now. Yeah. Right now at the for

  • 1:19:50

this for right and it's it's a slight edge. It's a slight edge. If to pimp a butterfly was our last reference point,

  • 1:19:56

I may agree with you, but he did so many different flows and great [ __ ] with Dan. I I kind of have to give Kendrick right

  • 1:20:02

now. Did you really listen to Sean's album? Of course. I don't believe. Which one? I decided. Of course. I'm a Sean

  • 1:20:07

fan. Uh to my connect. I used to work with Sean. So, of course, I did. And you used to work with soy. You don't think

  • 1:20:14

you don't think him and Kendrick are close? Yeah, of course. I think they're close. And the reason I'm going to tell you another reason I give Sean a slight

  • 1:20:20

edge. Kendrick, you know when you hit Kendrick, you can still hear elements of certain people. You can hear a little

  • 1:20:25

him. You can hear a little Andre 3000 at times. Okay. with Shawn. I don't know who Shawn sounds like. Who does Shawn

  • 1:20:31

sound like? Himself. That's what I'm saying. I guess he It's a slight edge and in just originality with Shawn. And

  • 1:20:38

I love I love Kendrick. Kendrick makes way better albums. The Pimpa Butterfly wasn't original. But I love that album.

  • 1:20:43

Damn wasn't original. Damn was just cool to me, man. I'm going be honest with you. I thought my Yo, Park said the same thing. It's cool. Park said it's just

  • 1:20:50

cool. It's not whack at all. It's It's really matter of fact, it's actually dope, but it's just like I don't know.

  • 1:20:56

It don't mean anything. And I respect Park's music music opinion so much that I went back. You ever go back to try to

  • 1:21:02

hear something with like another [ __ ] ears? I ain't hear it then. That damn album is godamn it incredible. By the

  • 1:21:08

way, the LA I mean I I know y'all love Drake here. And um I've never been the biggest Drake fan, but when I listen to By the way, the only person that's ever

  • 1:21:14

said that we like Drake here besides Mo. Everyone thinks we hate Drake. Drake. Y'all love obviously y'all love Drake. I

  • 1:21:20

love I listen to the last three projects from the I consider Kendrick Cole and Drake the the guys of this era. Like

  • 1:21:27

back in the day we'd argue about Big E and Nas is you know Cole. Okay. Kendrick. I don't think Yeah. I don't

  • 1:21:32

think anyone could argue that. I didn't like Cole's last album. I didn't like it either. I did not like For your eyes Only. I didn't like More Life. And I

  • 1:21:39

think that was the consensus. You didn't like More Life? No, it was all right. But I never been a Drake fan so I'm not

  • 1:21:44

like he's not my cup of tea. Drake is like Bryson Tilly. I didn't like the last uh JCole album. I didn't like that

  • 1:21:50

album. But everybody in their mama swears by more life is I think this is the first time Cole got a lot of really

  • 1:21:55

great after you edit it. After you edit more No, for real. I think that's why you call it a playlist. You edit it and

  • 1:22:00

it's great. Drake, what did you edit? Drake is interested to me because I never I've never been a I've never been

  • 1:22:06

a Drake fan like that. And even records that I think I like of Drake, I end up like, oh, okay. Like I thought I really

  • 1:22:12

liked Free Smoke till I was on the treadmill like two weeks and I'm like, nah, this not going to get me through

  • 1:22:17

it. Free smoke. I said when I heard it, oh Mo about to get mad at me. I'm listening. This is this is No, no. You

  • 1:22:24

know what? I'mma chill because we in the summertime and this is exactly how that [ __ ] started last summer. I'm

  • 1:22:29

listening. Free Smoke sounds is the same almost as uh what's the [ __ ] other

  • 1:22:36

Drake song? Energy or no 10 bands or I like energy. I have to remember. I do

  • 1:22:41

like energy. I like energy and know yourself. But you know what? I I appreciate a drink when I went to the show. That's going to kill me for the

  • 1:22:47

rest of the night. until I remember that record. What you think? When I when I went to Drake's show, that's when I really understood who [ __ ] with Drake.

  • 1:22:53

And when you throw that many things against the wall, you get a big broad audience. Like, of course, cuz you got to think he's doing R&B songs. He's

  • 1:22:59

    doing Caribbean [ __ ] pop [ __ ] rap [ __ ] Like, he's lit. He's got something for everybody. That's the most diverse

  • 1:23:06

crowd I've ever seen in a concert. That's why I don't understand which is why I don't understand how people don't

  • 1:23:11

like his music. Like, I don't understand it. It's just I mean, it's just I almost try not to like Drake music. I don't It's just not for me. Like I He's not

  • 1:23:17

whack by any means. It's just not for me. Like I grew up in a different era. I'm Drake has been talking about the

  • 1:23:22

same [ __ ] for a little while now. A lot of rappers have been saying that about a

  • 1:23:28

lot doing it the same way. 40 is just amazing. Yes. And that that's my biggest

  • 1:23:33

problem with hip-hop as I get older. Like the artists that are that are putting out music, I've heard it before

  • 1:23:39

and I've heard it done better. Like I love Kendrick Duckworth, but I've heard better stories. I grew up off Nas

  • 1:23:46

Rewind. Yeah. You know what I mean? But no, but see Charlam, does that mean that that takes anything away from that

  • 1:23:51

record? Not at all. Not at all. It's dope. It's It's dope. But but it's probably way doper to a 20-year-old.

  • 1:23:57

I think it's a age thing for you cuz there's certain things that I hear that were amazing to me in 03 cuz I was 13

  • 1:24:03

and just starting to love hip-hop. But you can't say that. It's still It still ranks because there's a lot of records I

  • 1:24:09

love back then that I listen to now and I'm like that was trash. But to speak to Charlemagne's point, recently I'm

  • 1:24:15

starting to hear rumblings of Kendrick is viewed the way he's viewed in large

  • 1:24:20

part because of the field being the way it is.

  • 1:24:25

I think Kendrick would have done well in any field cuz he just he's just has the ability to rap no matter what. And he's

  • 1:24:31

shown that he can be original, not do the same sound as you put Kendrick in the 90s. You're not calling him the great one of the greatest matter. You're

  • 1:24:38

not doing of course not. Of course, he can certainly still compete. By the way,

  • 1:24:44

that's whack. By the way, that was that was back. Let's get back to us real quick. When you was going in on Yachti,

  • 1:24:49

I'm like, why is Joe wasting time going in on Yachti? I understand Joe's passionate about hip-hop, but why not

  • 1:24:56

celebrate all of these dope [ __ ] that are out here? We literally just had a 20-minute conversation about dope [ __ ]

  • 1:25:03

Like, why? Who cares what Yachti's doing? I do. Why? And you said he dictates the

  • 1:25:09

culture right now. That is not true. I did not say that. I didn't say he dictates the culture. You said he's like

  • 1:25:14

the biggest [ __ ] You like his I said he's one of the hottest things moving. Yeah, but he don't even sell records

  • 1:25:19

like that. He hasn't sold a record. He hasn't put a record out to sell. Okay. As far as streams go and as far as uh

  • 1:25:26

his business and his advertisements, he's one of the hottest things smoking. He is, but he's still not as big as the

  • 1:25:31

people we're talking about. He's not big as Chance. He's not big as Kendrick. He's not big. Of course not. Not big. I never spoke I I never spoke about him in

  • 1:25:39

that in that light. But don't you think as as as as as quote unquote taste makers, we should be celebrating what's

  • 1:25:45

dope. And I don't got nothing against Yachti. I'm just saying like if you're a hip-hop purist, why not celebrate

  • 1:25:50

hip-hop? Well, here's my thing with that and how someone that grew up loving hip-hop could not like Yachti. It's not

  • 1:25:55

his music. It's the fact of how when he came out, he was very dismissive of the culture that gave him food. He wasn't He

  • 1:26:02

said, "Fuck Pete Rock on Twitter." What are you talking about? You don't even know who Pete Rock is. He thought he he probably thought Pete Rock was just some guy from Mount Vernon tweeting him

  • 1:26:08

talking [ __ ] I don't think I don't think Pete Rock was in Mount Vernon. You know who Pete Rock is. This kid's naked. No, but I'm saying No, I'm telling you

  • 1:26:14

why someone who loves hip hop could be mad at that because it's very dismissive that the culture that these people love

  • 1:26:19

and created and built for Yachti to continue to move on and eat off of is now like I don't really give a [ __ ]

  • 1:26:25

about I'm not even a rapper. [ __ ] rap. You know why? Birdman said that years ago. So did Kanye and a lot of other [ __ ] You know why? In that

  • 1:26:31

    context. Yes, he did. What do you mean? I'm not I'm not a rapper. a [ __ ] talker. I don't even I don't even know. I don't

  • 1:26:37

know the new point y'all are arguing, but I wish that I had somebody to to

  • 1:26:42

speak to me that way when I was in Yacht's position. Like, that's very alarming to me that that young man not

  • 1:26:50

    only didn't know what a 360 deal was, that was he was bullshitting you. I'm I'm I'm a I'm I'm a I know when

  • 1:26:57

somebody's bullshitting somebody cuz you know the first thing he said when you said that, he goes, "Oh, I don't know what is it." like he was being

  • 1:27:02

condescending and sarcastic. He He knows what a 360 deal is. Come on, man. That I

  • 1:27:07

disagree with you. I know. I saw an interview with Yachty about a month ago, way before he interviewed with y'all and

  • 1:27:12

somebody was like, "How do you feel about, you know, people saying you're not one of the best lyricist?" He goes, "I'm one of the best businessmen." He

  • 1:27:18

said that. He said that on my show as well. Okay, maybe that was in I know I saw it somewhere. But that that that

  • 1:27:23

means absolutely nothing to me. that the fact that he said um cuz I read body

  • 1:27:29

language, I read mannerisms, I read a lot of other [ __ ] Words mean nothing without definition. But he said that and

  • 1:27:35

in combination with that every time he was about to speak, he had to look up.

  • 1:27:41

That's telling. That's telling. That says that a young man does probably not have eyes on the eyes. You need eyes on

  • 1:27:48

the eyes. Y when I first got my record deal, it was a woman who shall remain nameless. And I'm not going to throw

  • 1:27:54

Kaiser under the bus, but it was a woman that robbed all of us at Bis County. She robbed us all. I heard about her. I had

  • 1:28:00

But I had people that was watching things. I had people in place. [ __ ] still happens. When you 19 and you

  • 1:28:07

rocking now, my delivery was a little off, but when you're 19 Well, again, I don't want to have

  • 1:28:14

guests ever on the [ __ ] show. How can a rapper with the best How can a rapper with one of the best deliveries? That's

  • 1:28:20

such a terrible delivery when he's just talking to somebody. I don't deal well with people when when you're 19. You

  • 1:28:26

hate when older people. I don't do well with people. You never want to talk to people. Charlene, I'm giving it four months. I never I was at six. I'm at

  • 1:28:33

four now. But wait, I never want guests. And what I'm learning here on this on this everyday struggle [ __ ] uh which you

  • 1:28:40

spoke about earlier is the more the more disagreeable someone is with me is the

  • 1:28:45

the bigger is the the harder they want to come to the show. I don't know why this Slim Jimmy kid wants to keep coming

  • 1:28:51

up here talking to me. I don't even know how I end up in a beef with Slim Jimmy. I love Slim Jimmy. I Well, see, I'm from

  • 1:28:57

the South, so I grew up on 36 Mafia. I grew up on Little John, Crime Mob. I

  • 1:29:02

love that energy. Listen, all of that is great. Sherman is dope. Race Nobody will say that they're not dope. I have said

  • 1:29:09

they dope. They're I've said it to him. However, we would be a little foolish to

  • 1:29:14

ignore that people are saying the one brother's about to leave, man. I didn't make that up. Sway, he's on other

  • 1:29:22

records. They popping. [ __ ] are saying that. So what? It's so what? It's fine. But why? This kid wants to beef with me.

  • 1:29:29

So now he wants to come on the [ __ ] show and talk about these. Yo, it comes a point in time where you got like I'm

  • 1:29:34

I'm I'm over beefing with the youngans. And I'm going to tell you why I'm over beefing with the youngans. Cuz we look stupid regardless. because it's just a

  • 1:29:41

it's a generational thing. We're 20 years older than some of these guys. That's true. But the language if if I'm

  • 1:29:47

saying to somebody and if I'm saying to somebody, "Hey, I like y'all." But you don't say it like that. Oh, you can't. I

  • 1:29:53

    [ __ ] like you. [ __ ] you. You don't [ __ ] but I like you. When are you [ __ ] leaving? Show Jimmy Lee. Slim

  • 1:30:00

Lee. When are you leaving? Slim Jimmy. Slim [ __ ] Jimmy. Like that's a dis

  • 1:30:06

that's a disconnect between you and academics. The disconnect is you just don't respect him. And and and I can

  • 1:30:13

understand I can understand why because academics is one of those people and I tell him this all the time and I told

  • 1:30:19

him I told him this two weeks ago in private and said it in public. You can't talk to Joe about things you don't know

  • 1:30:26

about. It's things that I've said all of this to him too. It's things that Joe has lived that you just don't know

  • 1:30:33

about. And I tell him to school me. The same thing you said. I tell him school me on Ugly God. school me on Playboy

  • 1:30:38

Cardi. All of these new guys I'm not gonna ever have information on. He put up a list the other day and he was like, "Pick who you want for the double XXL

  • 1:30:44

freshman list." I had to text him like, "Who are these people?" Yeah. A Boogie and Ugly God. I did not know the rest of them cuz I keep I let I let Rei put me

  • 1:30:51

on to that. I let Act put me on that. I let T when Tax was home. He'll put me on to that kind of [ __ ] Like I don't I'm I'm That's not my era. And plus, music

  • 1:30:58

is a feeling. We all know that, right? The stuff we grew up on. That's why I can't get mad when Yachti don't like a

  • 1:31:04

Biggie or Pac cuz it don't mean anything to him. It's just music. It's just like when I hear this young [ __ ] it's just

  • 1:31:10

it's either sonically pleasing to me or it's not. No, but I can't say that Charlamagne because I I I listen to Bob

  • 1:31:15

Marley and I I was one maybe when he died. Bob is a feeling though. That's what But that's what I'm saying. So you

  • 1:31:22

Yachty has to You can't say that he just because he's young, he don't I don't I don't even like this one. You went from Bob Marley to Yachty. No, I'm just

  • 1:31:29

saying I'm just saying the feeling the vibe like you know what I'm saying? Just because he wasn't there doesn't mean he can't catch that energy and respect that

  • 1:31:35

energy and that vibe in that moment. Yeah. But you not we're not 18 19 at a mosh pit dancing to Minnesota either.

  • 1:31:41

Like think about when the first time you heard I can vividly remember being in a club in Mons corner South Carolina called Highway 52 and them playing Wuang

  • 1:31:49

Bring the [ __ ] Ruckus when I was a teenager and how that made me feel like and so whenever I hear that song now it

  • 1:31:55

takes me to that moment. I'm not at these Yachty shows. I'm not doing the drugs these [ __ ] is doing. I'm

  • 1:32:00

not in the crowd with them. I don't So I don't feel the music the way these kids feel the music. It means something to

  • 1:32:06

them. It don't mean anything to me. But to that point, like it wasn't like

  • 1:32:12

Nas. I'm not comparing thinks a Boogie is like Nas. Can I just throw this out there? No, he doesn't. I don't. I love A

  • 1:32:18

Boooogie though. Really love Agoo. He does think Aoogie is like Nas. But but the way like when Nas came out, he

  • 1:32:23

wasn't dissing to Hibby. Like there was still respect level. Of course, Nas was

  • 1:32:28

wrapping circles around the earlier [ __ ] but he didn't come in dismissive like, "Fuck all that. I didn't grow up on that. Fuck." Wait, are we talking about Are we still talking about Yachti

  • 1:32:34

being dismissive over hip hop? What? That's the point. Well, here's the thing. Yeah. About the about the young kids and how they're coming in with no

  • 1:32:40

disrespect. When Nas came in the game, he was still closer to that era. Biggie's been dead longer than Yachti's

  • 1:32:46

    been alive. It's a It's a W. Yes, he has. It's a wide gap. Yacht's 19. Big been dead 21

  • 1:32:52

years. The math is terrible. You might correct like the gap is way wider. Like it's like like Nas is was right there

  • 1:33:00

after Rockham. Right there after KRS. Okay, I'll go with Joe's era then. The

  • 1:33:06

when he came out in the early 2000s, they wouldn't dissed uh KRS1. But a lot of those guys were still active. Step

  • 1:33:12

into my world and all that [ __ ] was still acting. Kell Nelly definitely by the way. He 100% Nelly did

  • 1:33:20

some melodies. That was a underrated battle. underrated. But you can't be mad cuz they they used to do Nelly the way

  • 1:33:26

[ __ ] do Yachty now. Like oh that's not hip

  • 1:33:32

hop down. Not like that. N K specifically called Nelly out and said

  • 1:33:38

this is what's wrong with hip hop. Like this [ __ ] is corny. But says that everything is wrong with hip hop.

  • 1:33:45

You ever get stuck in a hip-hop conversation with Caress or Premiere and Joe Button? You better buckle up. No

  • 1:33:52

it's not Joe. That's you now. Them [ __ ] is long winded. I don't want to talk. I don't want to talk to nobody. That is you now, Joe. I'm long-winded.

  • 1:33:59

Joe, have you ever full of [ __ ] Yo, seriously. Seriously, you're such a joke. Have you met yourself? Like, seriously, have you ever met yourself?

  • 1:34:06

Like, I've watched you that that interview when you first went in on Drake. That [ __ ] that was good is

  • 1:34:12

hilarious to me. Then it was in black and white and you was like

  • 1:34:18

Maul thinks I'm at the mall thinks I'm the most unstable artist there is without question. Yeah, it's not even

  • 1:34:24

    close. But there's nothing wrong with that. It's not even close. [ __ ] I don't That's not a negative credit.

  • 1:34:29

A Bobby. There's been a Well, we just mean like rappers. DMX is pretty DMX is my guy. DMX is way

  • 1:34:37

more together. I think it's just cool for y'all to say that about me. Well, I know why he said it. I got this [ __ ]

  • 1:34:44

all figured out. I got him. No, but you say it in your music. Yeah, but I feel

  • 1:34:49

like I say it for different reasons than you gentlemen. Every time I've seen DMX wild out, I know why DMX is wilding out.

  • 1:34:55

I see you while out and I don't know why. I'm like, what is going on with Yo,

  • 1:35:01

but how often do I out? Honestly. Honestly. Honestly. You give us a good one every two weeks. It's right now it's about every two weeks. How

  • 1:35:08

long How long has every day struggle been? We've been on for a month. All right. Oh man. So you better than that

  • 1:35:14

every week. I've given a little bit of the yachti was one. You've hit the

  • 1:35:19

downward dog pose on academics twice. Meaning you do the same.

  • 1:35:25

You've done that. Yo, that's my point about you. Charlemagne know that most of that [ __ ] is for [ __ ] theatrics. I

  • 1:35:31

really don't know. You don't knock it off. That's that's my thing. I be like, "Yo, is Joe in character?" Yo, Charlemagne dances, man. You dance. You

  • 1:35:38

play both sides of that fence. What you said just now is you said it's a theatric. See, I don't I don't ever want to become a character. I want an Angie

  • 1:35:44

hat. Come on. Angie's a legend. I don't ever want to become a character child of myself. Like I don't want And that's my

  • 1:35:49

that was my other critique of everyday struggle. I don't want you to get caught up in thinking you got to do that all the time.

  • 1:35:57

I don't think you're pretending or being a character, but you do kind of have a character stick of being the person that says what other people won't say to the

  • 1:36:03

artist. That's not my fault. That's him flipping out the same. He just said it. He say it's theatrics. I don't do that.

  • 1:36:10

No, I definitely put some sauce on sometimes. That Drake that Drake that Drake podcast that was some sauce. Joe

  • 1:36:16

need to get in. That was That was some sauce. Uh the [ __ ] Yachty [ __ ] Uh no, that was No, I

  • 1:36:24

think no sauce on that y but I had a broad I had a broader

  • 1:36:30

point, man. You didn't get to it. I don't do it. Is there anything in hip-hop that we need to hit that we have

  • 1:36:37

not hit? I think I had a list in hip-hop. Do we care? I'm not going to say that. Have we Have we gotten everything off our list? I'm trying to

  • 1:36:44

No, I know you done [ __ ] one of my exes and you won't tell me. I've never [ __ ] any exes. Wait, what? Cuz that's

  • 1:36:49

what it is, man. I got to get to the bottom of where his uh consistent wouldn't it be if you [ __ ] I only know I

  • 1:36:55

only know one of your exes. That's not true. That That is an answer, though. Cuz now he can say, "I didn't know that was

  • 1:37:02

It's good. I sent the book. It's in the book right here. Send the book. I just

  • 1:37:08

know Terry. Terry got a great idea for a TV show, by the way. Amazing. Why you didn't give Terry donkey today when she

  • 1:37:14

got arrested on her birthday inside of her house? I didn't hear nothing about

  • 1:37:22

    it. I didn't I didn't You heard about that? I did. I

  • 1:37:28

didn't hit it. Have you heard about that? I just heard she I heard she got into a fight. Yeah, she about it. So why

  • 1:37:34

should she get donkey for getting into a fight? She got arrested in her house. In her house for having a fight for beating up her roommate on her birthday. I don't

  • 1:37:41

What's donkey worthy? I'm never getting arrested in my own living room. You got to tell me what's donkey worthy. Donkey.

  • 1:37:46

What's donkey worthy? Huh? You got to tell me. I didn't know. No, no, no. I didn't know. I didn't know I didn't know

  • 1:37:53

the details. He knew he knew. I didn't I heard that. I heard exactly what you just told me. Like what was so you did

  • 1:37:59

hear? So you do hear a lot of details. No, I don't like what was the donkey of

  • 1:38:05

the situation. Like that's what I want to know. Like she got to a fight in her house. Yo, he's he's very I think we get

  • 1:38:10

some different Yo, he's very understanding when it comes to certain people. No, I thought she beat up a chick and the chick called the police on it and she got arrested. Why is that so

  • 1:38:17

crazy? In your house crazy. Not at the person. It's all about who go get to the

  • 1:38:22

phone first. If I'm beating you up, you're not getting in my house. You can't make sense to this one, Charlie. I

  • 1:38:28

mean, I don't see I don't see Listen, stop protecting your Tahiri relationship. I don't have a good Yeah,

  • 1:38:34

I just think Oh, he's producing. By the way, by the way, by the way, he's

  • 1:38:39

producing. By the way, by the way, I'm definitely going to try to produce that show. She's got a great idea for Is it

  • 1:38:46

her and Joe on TV? No, it's not her. It's definitely not her and Joe. It's definitely It's definitely not her and Joe, but it's a great idea for a TV

  • 1:38:52

show. That's the only ex I know of yours. And the orphan. Who's the orphan? Is she bailed out? Who? Charlemagne B

  • 1:39:03

or we going to start all types of rumors right here. What was the other the the runway? I don't have any exes. Oh my

  • 1:39:10

god. I don't have any exes. I don't have any I don't I don't know what you're talking about. That's just new. I know what you're talking about. You know the

  • 1:39:15

girl I'm talking about. We don't I don't have any exes and we are confused. People's personal lives. We don't know

  • 1:39:20

any of No, man. I really thought she was Charlemagne is not giving Tahiri donkey

  • 1:39:26

of the day for getting arrested on her birthday in her house because he's producing her [ __ ] television show

  • 1:39:33

and y'all telling me that she is not massaging his [ __ ] relationships here. Bro, Rory, explain to me why

  • 1:39:39

should I get donkey? We just said Charlemagne. I I said it twice. All right. All right. Forget about it. For a

  • 1:39:45

fight. Pause. I'm gonna go down your donkey list, man, and I'm gonna point one out that shouldn't have got it just for you. I'mma tweet it to you. I'mma

  • 1:39:50

tweet it to you. I don't I can't think of No. If it were me, if it were me and I went out to a club, and I don't even

  • 1:39:56

like talking about this this long, but you full of [ __ ] And I went out to a club and then I walked in my

  • 1:40:01

house, beat up my roommate, then got arrested and went to jail and spent my

  • 1:40:07

birthday in jail. You're giving me donkey. Is your roommate a girl? That's the only way you'd get donkey today.

  • 1:40:13

See, go back to Did you sit on her chest? On her stomach

  • 1:40:19

only. These jokes are not supposed to be funny though. I haven't I haven't given you donkey in months and you you giving

  • 1:40:26

us some material. I have not the yachti thing. The yachti thing. You could if it was a slow news day. You could have done

  • 1:40:32

it. It was a slow news day. Not really. Not for the yacht thing. Screaming at a What have I done for I actually been

  • 1:40:37

pretty good. I've not the news. The grunting at Academics yesterday is so underrated. Why are y'all not paying that no attention? Man,

  • 1:40:44

did Jason Whitlock was respond? Yes, he did. Was it good? No, he has to this he

  • 1:40:51

has to click up. He was like, "Yo, let's come together and help black people." So him, Peter, I

  • 1:40:58

bro, I'm gonna say I'm You want to How come How come this [ __ ] has a list of people that want to [ __ ] click up and

  • 1:41:04

be friends with him? It's online right now. Go look at it. He's like, "Yo, I want to click in the book. I want to be friends." And it's definitely in the

  • 1:41:09

book. We're like, "I want to be friends and like let's help brothers and sisters and help." I'm like, "Cuz and you want

  • 1:41:15

beef. You want smoke." You like, "Nah, [ __ ] I don't want smoke. I just want you to have that same [ __ ] the brothers and sisters at the same energy that you

  • 1:41:22

had any other time. Like don't come to me and click up. Like listen, I don't have no problem giving anybody donkey

  • 1:41:28

today. I really didn't like what Jason Whitlock did though. Like he really came to the defense of the white man on me. Like he really did some like overseer

  • 1:41:33

[ __ ] Like he was he literally got on Colin Coward's show and said Charlemagne is talking about things that white

  • 1:41:39

people can't handle. So I'm going to handle it for you. I'm going to deal with him. How you say that? How you say

  • 1:41:44

that to a white man, bro? That's like some real live Yeah. Don't you run off the plantation. Him and him and Sage

  • 1:41:50

steel them two together. Not really feeling it. Where do you stand on Lavar Ball and this baller uh the sneaker?

  • 1:41:58

Everything. I love Lavar Ball. Lavar Ball is everything that we we have claimed we want to be in hip-hop. Like

  • 1:42:03

we talk about independence all the [ __ ] time, but then soon as somebody comes and actually wants to be independent and doesn't want to sign a

  • 1:42:09

regular endorsement deal, they want to sign a partnership, we act like this motherfucker's crazy. And I hate how everybody's trying to make his sons

  • 1:42:15

rebel against him. Like what? Like what part of the game is that where you're telling your sons, "Don't listen to your father. My father's gotten me to this

  • 1:42:21

point. Now all of a sudden you like [ __ ] it. Don't listen to your father." I do agree with you on Independence. I

  • 1:42:27

think that's phenomenal what he's doing. Do we think if Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas didn't say no. Do we think he

  • 1:42:32

would have signed a deal and not went independent? We say what now? Do you think if Nike, Adidas, or Under Armour

  • 1:42:37

offered him a deal first? Okay. He would he have gone independent? Like an endorsement deal? Yeah. If if they did offer Alonzo an endorsement deal, you I

  • 1:42:44

didn't know. I thought they all turned him down and that's why he went [ __ ] if you want. Lavar went in

  • 1:42:50

there with the big ball of brand trying to be a partner from the door. Yeah, he came in with his own his own [ __ ] in a

  • 1:42:56

way. You think he would have signed is what I'm saying. Do you think he would have signed if he went into Nike and they say, "Yeah, clearly not. He's

  • 1:43:01

already turned down the M's already." I don't know that I don't know that they're not coming back to the table. Of

  • 1:43:06

course. Yo, if Lonzo gets signed to the Lakers and balls out and brings the Lakers back to prominence, of course

  • 1:43:12

they're going to come back. But he has to ball out. He got the ball out. It's really It's all on Lonzo. Everybody talking about Lavar. It's all on Lonzo.

  • 1:43:17

That's the thing. Yeah, but he's betting on his son as he should. He should bet on his son. Like I don't understand when

  • 1:43:23

we've gotten into this mental. Like yo, we are really some slave [ __ ] Like we're really some slaveminded work

  • 1:43:29

first, take the check, don't think about the equity later type of [ __ ] Like that [ __ ] is a sickness to me and I

  • 1:43:35

don't understand it. Like I don't have no problem with what Lavar Ball is doing. I actually think Kobe, LeBron,

  • 1:43:41

Kevin Garnett, they could have been changed the game. Imagine if LeBron would have signed a two-year deal. Like he wouldn't have done that, but maybe he

  • 1:43:46

would have. Steph did it basically. Well, LeBron has a lifetime deal. I mean, it's paid out for him. Now, here's

  • 1:43:52

my conspiracy. They're going to try to make sure that this fails cuz this will open the market for everyone that that

  • 1:43:58

is coming out of college with a phenomenal Absolutely. So, I think they're going to do everything dynamic

  • 1:44:04

between sneaker companies and players. Wait, that's your conspiracy theory? Well, and we're acting like they're

  • 1:44:09

going to try to make him fail. And we're acting like it can't be done. Steph Curry got equity in Under Armour right now. Yeah. Stephan Dell turned

  • 1:44:16

down, but behind all of these names, you have to ball out. You got to ball out. That's the bottom line. I'm not mad at

  • 1:44:23

trying to be, you know, entrepreneur and all this independent. I'm not mad at that. But I do think there's a way you

  • 1:44:28

got to do it though. You can't I don't think you come in and saying, "Yo, we want four billion." It's like, come on, man. I like the fact that Lavar's vocal

  • 1:44:34

of me. I probably would have followed the 48 law of power and concealed my intentions until Lonzo actually went in

  • 1:44:40

the league and proved himself. Okay. You know, I might I might I might have even assigned a three-year deal better. Well, that's what I was going to That's what I

  • 1:44:45

was going to say to you. While while I think he's a genius in theory, not so much in action. Yeah. Because now if he

  • 1:44:53

doesn't ball and the sneakers flop, he's going to get a deal. But the sneakers would have flopped regardless if he doesn't bowl. So this way he's putting

  • 1:44:59

out the table. That's not true. I bought a pair. You think the sneakers would sell? You did. If he if he didn't bowl, no, no,

  • 1:45:06

no. If he didn't, he has to play. He has to play what? I'm saying that they if he didn't say his marketing plan now and

  • 1:45:11

they flopped when he's on the court, then it's just a flop. Now there's momentum moving into it. This brand looks even better. If he does, you can

  • 1:45:17

conceal your intentions. Nobody knew Steph had equity in Under Armor. Like, you got to really go research that to see Steph got equity in Under Armour.

  • 1:45:23

Like him and Dell did the same exact thing. They went to Nike. They said they walked in there. They had the same [ __ ] uh uh presentation for Kevin

  • 1:45:30

Durant that they had for Steph and De was like, "Fuck that. We out." And they went to Under Armour and got that bag and they got equity. Very smart. And as

  • 1:45:37

much as people clown those sneakers on Twitter, them [ __ ] sold. That was one of the top selling sneakers. He put the stock up to 14 billion. Wow. And if he

  • 1:45:44

balls out this year, it's going it's going to be the same thing. They win the championship this year, it's going to be the same [ __ ] thing. Maul has a very

  • 1:45:51

    interesting take for uh Yeah.

  • 1:45:57

Maul is going to give us our insider basketball report. And if you're a Nick

  • 1:46:03

fan, it's going to be disturbing. Yeah. I want to not believe a word that Maul has to say. Honestly, I I don't want to

  • 1:46:10

believe it either, but it it came from a very credible source, man. What? They about to get rid of Chris? Yeah, they're

  • 1:46:16

going to get rid of Melo. Uh the Lakers are going to get Chris Paul, Carmelo, and Paul George. Damn. The Lakers are

  • 1:46:23

going to get Chris Paul, Carmelo, and Paul George. Now, that's not the part that disturbs me as a Knicks. Wait, where does Poor Zus go? I don't know if

  • 1:46:29

I want He's going He's going to ask for a trade. I don't want that. If I'm the Lakers, you know, I take Paul George and

  • 1:46:35

Chris Paul. I don't know if I want Melo. We have L Deng now. You you Melo's still a score. You want you want him with

  • 1:46:41

that? What's the Ingram? Ingram and like you still want to you want LA got a lot of young talent. You still want to help

  • 1:46:46

that young talent groom like you want Ingram is the young talent right now. Ingram is staying. And then who and who do they draft? Melo should go to the I

  • 1:46:53

mean the Pelicans or the Hornets. Who the [ __ ] is boogieing uh Anthony Davis on that? The Pelicans New Orleans. What

  • 1:46:59

are they? Pelicans now, right? Yeah. Melo should go there. That's the worst thing he could possibly do.

  • 1:47:05

Two of them this. Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins both kind of play mid-range Melo games. It's not like they

  • 1:47:12

two big [ __ ] with they back to the basket. Melo can't play the three anymore. So where you going to play that

  • 1:47:17

[ __ ] Yeah. When I said put put Melo on on the Wizards, [ __ ] laughed me off of

  • 1:47:22

Twitter. Be at what? at the four the four spot. Yeah, get him. Get Otto, Porter, whatever that [ __ ] All right,

  • 1:47:28

this is the worst playoffs I've ever seen. Trash. The only way you can make up for these playoffs is if the [ __ ]

  • 1:47:33

finals every game goes into overtime. Every single [ __ ] NBA. Is it trash because it's not competitive? Because

  • 1:47:40

Hold on. Because I have a theory. LeBron is just that much better than everybody else. Why? It's trash because it's cuz

  • 1:47:47

everybody clicking up on the same team is league. Yeah. No, that definitely is. That's why the Lakers have to do what

  • 1:47:52

they're supposedly getting ready to do because you have to match up to the Golden State. You have to match up to

  • 1:47:57

the Rockets, the Spurs. Like, you have to meet up to that. LeBron, what LeBron is doing right now. It's like I'm I

  • 1:48:05

understand the Jordan LeBron conversation now. I understand it. No, I understand it. I don't cuz I don't think

  • 1:48:11

you I don't I don't think you can skip over Kobe. He been there seven. He been to the final seven years in a row. It's

  • 1:48:16

going to be 82. It's going to be 92. Ain't nobody in the [ __ ] East. Why do we skip over Kobe? Kobe went to seven

  • 1:48:22

finals. Kobe not but not in a row though. It don't matter. Kobe seven years in a row. Seven years in a row is

  • 1:48:28

ridiculous. Yeah. Like you got to respect seven years, man. That's not easy to do. That's why why we don't respect the Buffalo Bills going to the

  • 1:48:34

Super Bowl three times in a row. We do respect it. Why we don't respect that? It's much harder in football. I respect

  • 1:48:39

that. But nobody talks about Buffalo Bills when they talk about the greatest teams of all time. Mo, you part of that

  • 1:48:45

new wave of [ __ ] that's putting the the LeBron Jordan thing like he's in the conversation. Listen, listen. Whoa,

  • 1:48:50

whoa. Let's be clear. Jordan is the greatest to me ever. But I understand how people are now starting to have that

  • 1:48:57

conversation. I don't see how you go past Magic because I But Magic went

  • 1:49:02

one-on-one with HIV in one and he went to the finals nine times. No, hold on. He started bleeding. He started bleeding

  • 1:49:09

that All-Star game. and to get him out of your way. N remember that old game he

  • 1:49:15

was sweating [ __ ] ain't want guard magic that's true only one that kept it 100 was Carl

  • 1:49:21

Malone was like I don't know what that [ __ ] is I ain't never seen that on my farm yo car get a bad rap man n he do

  • 1:49:29

get a bad rap call it a buck I'm not guarding magic either you all sweating this [ __ ] he said what everybody was thinking he definitely said what

  • 1:49:35

everybody was thinking for sure I'm I'm rolling with Kobe I'm not putting LeBron in in with Jordan yet I'm just No I I

  • 1:49:41

get the Kobe. But I'm saying it's been comparisons of Jordan Kobe already. I'm saying you hanging out in too many locker rooms. No, I'm saying I pause.

  • 1:49:48

I'm I'm saying that I understand the Jordan LeBron comparison. But you can't see the problem with guys like Jordan. You can't beat Ghost, bro. Like you just

  • 1:49:55

can't like LeBron will never be be as good as Jordan. LeBron will be great though. Like Jordan went to the finals six times and is undefeated. I get that.

  • 1:50:02

Like that if if anything, what are your [ __ ] got to stop pumping that up? I get it. Listen, Mike is number one. Mike

  • 1:50:09

is number one, man. We had to watch him beat Utah twice. Who he beat twice? Phoenix. Phoenix.

  • 1:50:16

Phoenix was tough. That was tough. Twice. He beat them once. Who he beat Utah? Who beat twice? He did beat Utah twice. Beat Utah twice. He beat Phoenix

  • 1:50:23

once. Come on, man. I'm not No, no, no. You said he beat Phoenix. He beat the Lakers once. No, he beat Utah twice. He beat the Lakers once. He beat the

  • 1:50:28

Trailblazers. The Sonics. The Sonics. That was it, man. The Knicks. Hey, we be

  • 1:50:33

pumping Mike up a little bit. I know it ain't allowed to say that. Those were super teams. He beat his Sonics team was not a super team. I mean Gary Payton and

  • 1:50:39

Sean Kemp won 60 games. That was a tough team was great. That Phoenix team was like the Phoenix team was like these

  • 1:50:45

loaded teams now. They had Charles Barkley Jeff Dan Marley that was

  • 1:50:52

Barkley's MVP. Yeah, Barkley should have got Richard Dumis. He got Mike [ __ ]

  • 1:50:57

Mike had [ __ ] on Slim Fest. You can't eat when I get here. Listen, things in fact did progress, especially with

  • 1:51:04

Yandandy and Erica who really had been Yo, speaking of the Knicks, I'm watching

  • 1:51:10

bum ass love hip hop on Monday. You know who I see on there? Shawn Williams.

  • 1:51:15

Nobody knows Shawn Williams, but he played for the Knicks a few years ago. Oh, yeah. Yeah. He was with He hit all the three-pointers. You ever miss you

  • 1:51:20

ever miss Love & Hip Hop, Joe? Hell no. I would never do that [ __ ] again. What made you bad, right? Like cuz that

  • 1:51:27

you're you're like so anti-industry. What made you want to do Love and Hip Hop? Well, for me, I I thought at the

  • 1:51:33

time I didn't understand anything about it. So when Mona comes and you offer that visibility as an independent act,

  • 1:51:39

you think, "Okay, I could and I had I had my best independent year on Love &

  • 1:51:44

Hip Hop, but the other [ __ ] that came along with Love and Hop, I would never do that again." And they couldn't even

  • 1:51:50

afford me to do it now. No, they No. Are is they wouldn't pay it. I wonder is Joe

  • 1:51:55

Button finally accepting the fact that you're going to be industry. You're industry now. Like are you really going to embrace? Let's get Let's get to that

  • 1:52:02

before the sleepers. I'm not industry. That's the difference between you and I. You going to be censored. No, I'm not.

  • 1:52:09

You going to [ __ ] protect your relationships and not give toi donkey today for getting arrested on her

  • 1:52:14

birthday. That's not good enough. I'm not I'm not doing that. How am I talking about? This is the thing though. Joe says I'm protecting my relationships.

  • 1:52:21

You do like out of all said she had the best TV show ever. You see what I mean about

  • 1:52:27

this? See what I mean about this? All the relationships I could have to hear. No, it's a lot more relationship.

  • 1:52:32

There's a lot more relationship. I'm being funny right now. I'm being petty. You You protect your relationship. What

  • 1:52:38

happened? All right. So, listen to this. No. Yes. The [ __ ] you do. You told me that you are in charge of your own promo run. And if you're putting this

  • 1:52:44

together, it looks amazing. Yeah. It looks great. You do have relationships. But you do realize when I go on these

  • 1:52:49

shows, you're corporate, but when I Yeah, I corporate America, but when I go on these shows, whether it's The View,

  • 1:52:54

whether it's First Take, whether it's Coale, I'm on there talking about 5% teachings. And I'm on there saying the

  • 1:52:59

white man is the devil. Like like I'm thinking about that, Joel. I don't I haven't heard that sound bite. What? I

  • 1:53:06

haven't heard the the white man and the devil in front of the white man. I haven't heard it. I'm just Yes. That's Yes. I'm not doubting. I'm just saying I

  • 1:53:12

haven't heard that. That's these are the conversations I'm we're having. Like, you know, they're asking me about stuff in my book. Trevor Noah was like, "So,

  • 1:53:18

you said that 80% of white people are the devil." And an audience that was Trevor was I saw that one. Trevor No is

  • 1:53:25

not white. I'm talking about in front of the white folks. I've did it on saying it there. What do you think about Kanye?

  • 1:53:31

He's in the sunken place. You saw the JLC interview. I'm I'm like I love Kanye. I think he's a legend, but he's

  • 1:53:37

dis he's disappointing cuz it's just like, yo, you was that guy who was like so socially conscious. You was that

  • 1:53:43

voice that the culture needed. Like, yeah, that guy stood on stage and said George Bush don't care about black people. And it's like you just said [ __ ]

  • 1:53:51

it for Hollywood. Like Kanye and for really is the definition of like what

  • 1:53:56

you would call somebody who sold the [ __ ] out. Yeah. Like he is. We just bypass it. We bypass it cuz we love him.

  • 1:54:02

Cuz he puts cool holes in t-shirt. No, for real. And but and and not only that because he has contributed a lot to the

  • 1:54:08

culture. Like even if he's decided to fall back. I mean come on. Would push a T have a solo career if it wasn't for

  • 1:54:13

Kanye. Like who else was going to take that chance? Yes. Push a T would have a solo career for not as great as it is

  • 1:54:20

now. Nobody did. And not taking away from his talent. You just have Kanye West. Yeah. I hate I hate when people say that. Nobody else did it. Forel

  • 1:54:27

would have done it though. I don't know. He had he had every opportunity. Forel would have done it. Forel fell back. Who had forel? Yeah. But heel fell back. Who

  • 1:54:33

has done that for as of late cuz he purposely hasn't tried to. I'm not saying Forel hasn't done it, but his

  • 1:54:39

interest is not in that space. If Forel never falls back, y'all don't think he puts out a uh a [ __ ] He did though.

  • 1:54:45

I'm saying push album. We're going tangible. I wouldn't want to hear a push a T solo album executive produced by Forel. I think Kanye I think Kanye is is

  • 1:54:52

is is is more hip-hop than than Fel and I love for real. For real is dope, but Kanye is like more traditional. He gets

  • 1:54:59

it more. Who wins a beat battle between the two? Kanye without question. This goes back

  • 1:55:04

to clearly if it's like if it's like if it's like Blaz if it was like just Blaze and Swift for a crowd. Does Kanye have

  • 1:55:12

anything? Not just Blazing. What What Listen, what record does uh y'all went

  • 1:55:17

to the Life of Pablo tour, right? No, no, I did not. Oh my god. That's one of That's probably the most phenomenal concert I've ever seen. We're in that

  • 1:55:23

industry. You are. I went to that. I went to that industry. I was sitting in the crowd. I went to Jesus and I thought Jesus was the greatest show I've ever

  • 1:55:28

been to. I would never go there cuz that album was trash. I didn't I didn't like that album. That album was better live. Okay. With the whole theatrics. Kanye's

  • 1:55:34

got records that you can tell off of stage. Imagine if Kanye plays We Major.

  • 1:55:40

What does Forel got that sounds like We Major? You remember what? That's a great beat, but in a beat battle, that's what

  • 1:55:46

you land with Kanye. That is hard. It's a great beat, but in a beat battle, that's what separate. All right. For real. Puts on grinding after we major.

  • 1:55:52

What happens? Okay. Then Kanye puts Can't Tell Me Nothing on That's See, that's the type of beat I would think he would say. Not We Major. Major is

  • 1:55:58

amazing. Great beat, but it's not the beat that I'm running to. No, we major is

  • 1:56:04

amazing. Me and Stack Bundles, Rest in Peace. When we first heard that beat, we was blown away. Amazing. I'm not taking

  • 1:56:11

away from the beat. I'm just saying can't tell me nothing would be the [ __ ] I would run to in a beat battle to go against I think for real is amazing but

  • 1:56:16

I don't think him and Kanye are close. Well, speaking of Kanye, GLC did go in an interview yesterday or today and said that Kanye's in a sunken place and he

  • 1:56:23

only equates success with acceptance from white people. Yeah, duh. I mean, I don't think I don't think this is

  • 1:56:28

breaking news. We need GLC to to tell us that one. Well, it was he went more into detail. You can look up the interview

  • 1:56:34

about him being in Paris and saying these things to him. But I mean Kanye could make the argument that his

  • 1:56:39

interest has been within high fashion and things that white people like. Yeah, but that's white to me. Especially

  • 1:56:45

especially when your interest was the kid in Chicago who cared about what's going on in society. Remember the last time we interviewed Kanye on the

  • 1:56:51

breakfast? I'm like, yo, did somebody tell you to fall back? Like did somebody tell you not to speak about political issues? And he said yes, my father. So

  • 1:56:58

it's like, yo, I don't know. I don't like I don't I think that's whack. I think I think it's whack not to stand for something. Is Chance what we hoped Kanye was going to be? Kanye jewels.

  • 1:57:07

Pardon? Kanye jewels. He Yes. Jewels us. Oh, I thought you were going to drop.

  • 1:57:12

No, no, no, no, no. Jewels. And I can't say I can't say chance is what uh we hope Kanye now. Exactly. Cuz Kanye was

  • 1:57:20

this at that time. Exactly. Exactly. I got I got chance I got chance running hip-hop probably for the next 15 years.

  • 1:57:27

That's a hot take. I do. Nah. Joe, you think it from a old mindset. We're older, so we used to those long runs. I

  • 1:57:34

don't think those exist. Yeah, they they're shrunken now. So with that 15 years, they exist, but on a smaller area

  • 1:57:41

of artist, I think Kendrick Oh, no, no, no, no, no. They they've had their on top run. I'm projecting for the future.

  • 1:57:48

Chance till 2025 is going to be if not one then two in the newer crop. I think

  • 1:57:56

I mean, I'm on record with that one. We [ __ ] that up this year uh with the hottest MC's that I executive produced

  • 1:58:02

and had Mr. Joe Buddton on. But one of the better ones in the last however many

  • 1:58:07

years I never because I just don't like it. You can't win. Like there's no win. Like

  • 1:58:13

no matter what hip Yeah. There's no [ __ ] winning. But the point of that list is not to win. to people talking. I

  • 1:58:20

did think about I did think about doing a top 10 lyricist like not not hottest

  • 1:58:25

MC's and sales and all that just bars like everyone's going to watch that the way they'd watch a hottest I think they

  • 1:58:31

would I think they would especially if you get it's a niche of people that would you'd get people from the culture to judge it like I'd get Joe to judge it

  • 1:58:37

I'd get Royce I'd get Jakus I'd get Scarface well you mentioned people that should be on it well I do think that a

  • 1:58:43

few I do I do think a few things should happen I do think that Lyricist Lounge is something that somebody should bring

  • 1:58:48

back I do think that you or me or somebody should approach BET with bringing uh the basement back. Um, yo,

  • 1:58:56

MTV Jam, just some of the old staples in hip-hop that we had for the type of [ __ ] that you were talking about, we still

  • 1:59:03

kind of need those avenues and those outlets, especially more more so now than ever. You don't even want to do

  • 1:59:08

them, though. Cuz even when you get into those conversations about those shows like that, everything revolves around pop culture. Like it's never it's never

  • 1:59:14

going as long as those shows are being done by networks where you have mad executives who are culturally clueless.

  • 1:59:20

It'll never be done right. That's why the chief is here, man. It'll never be done right. That's why if anything,

  • 1:59:26

that's why you should be happy you got outlets like Complex. You should be happy that you got the [ __ ] titles or whatever because they allow

  • 1:59:32

you that creative freedom. They allow people of the culture to shape the culture. It's impossible, bro. But

  • 1:59:37

people would say that before yo yo MTV raps, people would say rap would never be on the radio. And it eventually did.

  • 1:59:43

I mean, it can go through different time. You got to think on TV raps was done out of a out of a niche necessity.

  • 1:59:48

Now, hip-hop is pop culture. Well, with the internet, I think you can create a balance with niche things and show that

  • 1:59:53

they get millions and millions of views cuz there's rappers I've never heard of.

  • 1:59:59

Yo, I don't I don't I don't care about what y'all say. I don't This Roy is just going to challenge and and respond to

  • 2:00:06

    every [ __ ] things. I don't care because we're on a podcast. [ __ ] we third [ __ ] hour, [ __ ] away with

  • 2:00:11

    healing [ __ ] [ __ ] Shut the [ __ ] up. Let's get to the [ __ ] sleep.

  • 2:00:17

This is This is nuts. This is nuts because we're talking and when he gets a point off that the three of us don't give a [ __ ] about. Now we got to sit and

  • 2:00:23

listen. We're talking. There's three four [ __ ] sitting there talking. I'm responding to what the topic is. This is why you and academic

  • 2:00:28

got to watch. You know what's funny? This is what happened to Here's the difference. I'll fight Joe. Academics won't What is fighting them going to do?

  • 2:00:35

Nothing but get him on the floor. Get him on the floor. Get on the floor. Pause. Nothing but get him to the ground

  • 2:00:42

quickly is what fighting will do. And your downward dog. Listen. [ __ ] uh actually now I need you to finish talking cuz I got to find my sleeper.

  • 2:00:48

Shut up. Don't All right. Do you have your sleeper? I got my sleeper. Oh. Oh, we got to pull it off our phones. Uh

  • 2:00:55

yeah. Play by Well, we just going to pass the aux around. Mole always take Maul takes Poliola. Rory plays the same

  • 2:01:01

[ __ ] every week, but it sounds good from different artists. I just play I just play. By the way, by the way, this is

  • 2:01:07

the this is one of the best parts of y'all podcast because you celebrating what's dope music. [ __ ] what's whack.

  • 2:01:12

That's what we got to stop doing. Like I don't give a [ __ ] about little Uzi Vert shirt. I don't care about Little Yachty.

  • 2:01:18

That wasn't a nice blousey at all. I don't care. Just never felt those fabric. Let's celebrate. Celebrate what's dope in the culture. I agree. Say

  • 2:01:25

    that. You work for [ __ ] corporate top 40 [ __ ] state. I can't celebrate [ __ ] dope. Shut up. I always do. And by the

  • 2:01:31

way, I'm the guy that gets on the radio and says we play too much [ __ ] Drake. Okay. Hey, I'm the guy that gets on says, "Why are we playing Bryson Tilla

  • 2:01:37

again?" Yeah, but you drunk the Drake bottle. Well, I'm glad you said that. I never drink I never drink. I'm about to

  • 2:01:43

play Bryson. Oh, yo, Mo. Yeah, I am. You just played him two weeks ago. You did play him last

  • 2:01:49

week. Yes, you did. That wasn't his record. All right, Mo. That's who we remembered

  • 2:01:55

on the record. You got it, Mo. Okay, so let me get another song. No, no, go ahead. No, no, no. I'm getting another [ __ ] Wait, is it one of the four that

  • 2:02:00

he released? No. Some [ __ ] Bryson emailed him. I bet you none of y'all listening to the best album that's out right now. What is the best album that's

  • 2:02:06

out right now? The God Box by David Banner. I haven't heard it. I haven't heard it either. Incredible. I like David Banner a lot. Some of the the best

  • 2:02:12

production I've heard this year since Ross' album. Interesting. Really? Who produced it? Him. Him and his team. You

  • 2:02:19

know, David Banner scores movies and all that [ __ ] like that. Banner is one of those people you don't hear from, but he's out here getting bags. No,

  • 2:02:25

absolutely. Hella bags. I I disagree. I'm starting to hear from Banner. Banner

  • 2:02:30

is starting to have some outlandish hot takes. Is he? Yeah, he's starting to just say some wild [ __ ] out there.

  • 2:02:37

Banner's one of those I mean I run into Bann because you know I do a lot of speaking engagements so I you know I speak at the schools and stuff. I always

  • 2:02:43

see Banner Banner's Banner is always out and it's not even hot takes. He just wants to he wants he's about black empowerment. See I got to get better at

  • 2:02:49

that. You beat me at like being a better human than me. When when I clean up my humanity I'm getting you out of here as

  • 2:02:57

soon as I become like a good person. You know, that's what me and Envy be some time, bro. You know, me and Envy had a

  • 2:03:02

big beef because just Envy is too nice. He's such a nice guy. Yeah. Yeah. Joe, some people like to be nice, some people

  • 2:03:09

like happiness. Yeah. Like that's you beefing the wild for people to be pleasant. That was the wildest [ __ ] in

  • 2:03:14

that Yachti interview when Joe looked him dead in the eye and says, "No way you're happy all the time." Y'all took

  • 2:03:20

what I said out of context, but that [ __ ] is not happy all the time. How do you know Joe? Cuz it's impossible to be happy all time. He's 19. He don't have

  • 2:03:26

no problem. It's still impossible to be happy all the time. And I want to challenge everything, right? I'm the one that challenges everything. Is it

  • 2:03:32

possible to be happy all the time? Yes or no? Lie to me and say yes. Depends what your interests are. It don't depend on [ __ ] It is humanly impossible.

  • 2:03:40

We're older. We got kids. Like we look at life different than him. Like when you told Yachty that uh I believe I

  • 2:03:46

refuse to believe that's where your values lie. I'm looking at the [ __ ] like Joe, he's 19. You know, he gives a [ __ ] about heard. I heard you say it and it

  • 2:03:53

was such a great point. But if he didn't just finish saying, "Yo, I was." He

  • 2:03:58

spoke about the struggle two seconds beforehand. So that's why I said you can't speak about the struggle now. You

  • 2:04:04

can't say, "I was in college broke. I couldn't eat. Didn't know where my next meal." And then turn around and tell me

  • 2:04:10

that cars and jewelry is making you happy. No, it's a disconnect. I was about to dismiss his struggle until I

  • 2:04:16

thought about it. Everybody's struggle is different. That was a struggle for him. He's a broke college student. That is a struggle. I mean, he couldn't get

  • 2:04:22

    no [ __ ] That's a struggle. Is college a scam? Point of view. I heard y'all talking about that last podcast. I I

  • 2:04:28

kind of agree with both of y'all on two different points. I feel like where you was coming from, Joe, you were saying that you don't need a degree to be a content creator. And that's that's a

  • 2:04:35

fact. I just don't think Joe's going to let a doctor go near him if they haven't been to college. There you go. Doctors, lawyers, architects, engineers, you got

  • 2:04:42

to get a degree. Like, you just have to you got to go to school. Like, you have to. Yeah. You're good at changing entirely. No, that's But when I heard

  • 2:04:48

y'all last week are debating, I'm like, well, that's that's what I got from it. Like you were saying that certain fields

  • 2:04:53

you got to have a degree. You were saying content creators don't have a degree. See that's why we need you here. Cuz if that was Rory's point, you didn't

  • 2:04:58

articulate that [ __ ] You start telling me about networking. No, no, it was my point wasn't My point was I understood I

  • 2:05:04

understood what you was trying to say. [ __ ] start telling us netting. I would have brought up the doctor lawyer [ __ ] off rip if that was the argument I was

  • 2:05:11

trying to make. Of course, I don't think Joe is that stupid that he's be like, "Nah, doctor doesn't need a degree." So, I wasn't even going to bring that up. It was about more of the networking and the

  • 2:05:17

environment and things of that nature. You got to say what you really mean. That's what I really like. Stop. People really will judge you based off what

  • 2:05:23

they feel you know. Definitely one of the biggest things I've learned on this podcast. And speaking of doctors, I want

  • 2:05:28

to shout out to Dr. Love, Dr. Malachi. He got a year. They got him. They got him. He's got a year. He's full of [ __ ]

  • 2:05:35

though. That's my guy though, cuz he's he's one he's one of those he tried to do what Joe did. He tried to create content without getting a [ __ ]

  • 2:05:41

degree. He's a prime example. He's a prime example of why you got to go get a degree. Like, nah, that nigga's one of

  • 2:05:46

the illst [ __ ] to ever do it. He American greed. We need an episode on Dr. Love. I love that [ __ ] show with

  • 2:05:52

some of the greatest scams ever made on that [ __ ] He could have just went to school. Dr. Love. Yes. He could have

  • 2:05:59

just put that energy in. But why would you get you getting you get into it quick? He wasn't going to school. Fast

  • 2:06:04

money. That's like Bernice. That's why why would Bernice go to school? Wait, Bernice doesn't have a degree. I don't

  • 2:06:12

know. You know, it's funny. I think she did go to college. Bernice makes the worst. Why not slandering Bernice? I'm not would never Slander Bernice. Bernice

  • 2:06:19

is a goddess. I love Bernice. Bernice is great. She's the worst bartender we've

  • 2:06:24

ever seen in New York history. I I just thought I just thought she was a bartender cuz she needed a title. I didn't actually make drinks. Let me tell

  • 2:06:30

you. Let me tell you something. Walk into Starless one night a few years ago and try and get a drink from Bernice while drinking somebody sitting there.

  • 2:06:36

You be thirsty. I remember when Bernie used to work in a mall and BB. Yep. She was working in a mall. She was kind of

  • 2:06:42

trash at BB too. Now I'm thinking about me been around, yo. Nah, she

  • 2:06:47

wasn't trash. What I'm saying, I think I remember going and BB and needing service and not getting it. Didn't

  • 2:06:53

either. That I remember Angela Ye walked me into a Hot 97 party because we we was

  • 2:06:59

out with Bernice eating. It was like Pekka used to have a restaurant or some [ __ ] Yeah. And it was somebody from Hot's birthday and it was just mad

  • 2:07:05

people from Hot. Angela E is the queen of mixed evil. Yeah. She's in that's in

  • 2:07:11

she's in the street like a mother. That's her. She knows that though. That's her thing. That's my girl. Um, I'm inviting all of y'all to the pool

  • 2:07:16

party. Envy told me he's coming. Nah, I'm a faithful man. I'm still I'm not even sitting in the faithful section.

  • 2:07:21

I'm not coming to that Joe Button pool party. Why not? I'm grown. I have no business to the Joe Button pool. Sure you do. It's like for the creators, the

  • 2:07:27

content people, the taste makers, the That's carbs, Domino spades. It's still barbecue at the end of the day. Yeah.

  • 2:07:33

Bring your wife. My wife will be there.

  • 2:07:40

You know, Envy is bringing his wife. Of course, Envy's coming. Yeah, he's coming. People are coming. Angie's

  • 2:07:45

coming. Really? Come. It's one of those. I don't know what you heard about girls coming. You guys could take a picture. I

  • 2:07:50

haven't heard that. That's pretty. I'm not off of that. If I didn't get anything else from this podcast today,

  • 2:07:56

we could have just pressed record and Charlemagne could have said, "Yo, I bro" and I could have walked

  • 2:08:03

out. I can't do my podcast. I can't wait to see how he cuz you know he's going to

  • 2:08:08

run with this. So, I can't wait to see what he says. Of course he will. And that cuz stuff like that like that don't even bother me like when you know

  • 2:08:14

somebody's blatantly lying. You just know where that who that person is now. So I really want to see. I'm titling

  • 2:08:19

this this episode. Can we take a picture? Scotty Beam was there. Ask him. I'll text. My thing with Ebro is Ebro,

  • 2:08:26

you have had an open invitation to do this podcast for quite some time and there's been plenty to discuss. He

  • 2:08:31

doesn't like you, Joe. I'm telling you. I'm starting I am starting to feel like he does not like No, no, not like that.

  • 2:08:36

But I do think now that I think at one point he would have done this podcast. I don't know what transpired. Maybe the

  • 2:08:41

Marissa thing. He won't do it. Nor will he return any call about doing it. Think

  • 2:08:47

I'll take a picture with you. I don't ever want to get to that space. Like I don't ever want to get to the space where I just ignore [ __ ] Like

  • 2:08:53

that's that's that's whack. Yeah. Cuz everything in the culture counts. Like I I treat this podcast the same way I

  • 2:08:58

would treat an appearance on the treating it pretty shitty the past three episodes of yours. But you know what?

  • 2:09:03

No. I don't think so. I'm joking. I'm critiquing the culture. Look at the white man always trying to divide the

  • 2:09:09

brothers. No, no, you trying to divide the brothers, too. Yeah, I'm saying that's been his theme. I saw it. It was

  • 2:09:16

a chess move. It was not a chess move. And saying I don't like him. I just did the Reals

  • 2:09:22

podcast all day. Be honest. Be honest. Be honest. I can be super honest. Do you respect Ax's position in the culture?

  • 2:09:29

Yes. Because there's a new there's a new world of of the internet and he is leading that. It's amazing what he's

  • 2:09:35

done, especially all by himself. Y'all ever read American Gods? It's a TV show on Stars now. It's a TV show on Stars

  • 2:09:41

now. Amazing show. It's only five episodes in. You should watch it. Act is like, "Wait, I'm only on episode two. I

  • 2:09:46

just started this show." Okay. So, you saw the guy? No. What you watch? You saw So, you saw when he was in the car and

  • 2:09:51

got beat up. Yeah. But I still don't know what the show is about. I'm on episode two. That's the internet god. The show is about old gods versus new

  • 2:09:57

gods. That's what it's about. So it's like Loki, Thor, Hercules versus the

  • 2:10:02

internet, moneyless act is the internet. I didn't get that. I read the book. I read the book like seven years ago. Like

  • 2:10:09

I agree with you. I was never discrediting act. I was suggesting that those people in that world shouldn't

  • 2:10:14

call someone that's outside every day corny. It's just the wrong word. That's all I'm That was all I was getting at.

  • 2:10:20

You got to get more friends. You read too many books. I mean this [ __ ] read a lot of books, man. What are you talking?

  • 2:10:26

Text somebody, [ __ ] God damn it. This [ __ ] won't text me. Go to a pool party.

  • 2:10:31

That's why he can't get a pool party. Bring your book. I like bring your book.

  • 2:10:37

By the way, that would be me. That's what I love by a pool reading the book. Why not? By the way, with with SPF 15 to

  • 2:10:44

protect my newly bleached skin. Wait, did you really bleach your skin or is that just a joke? But you do look

  • 2:10:49

lighter. I brighten. It's brightened. No, that's that alkaline water. It's alkaline water.

  • 2:10:55

But I started to go see a dermatologist cuz I have mad skin discoloration. So I don't know if you are are joking or not.

  • 2:11:01

No, I'm not. But my my mom calls me uh she calls me two weeks ago to tell me

  • 2:11:06

that long story short, her nails the nail lady told her that her nails are much stronger than it ever been. And

  • 2:11:12

that was her proof that alkaline water does something. Shut up, man. Look at Mac jumping up and down. That it does

  • 2:11:18

something. Oh, and the doctor told her that her knee Sorry, mom. I'm putting

  • 2:11:23

all your business out here cuz she just got uh she need a knee replacement or some [ __ ] Something is stronger in her knee due to this alkaline water. All I

  • 2:11:30

drink is alkaline water and mad vegetables and I go see a dermatologist. I bought the I just brought the big I'm

  • 2:11:36

about to buy the machine now. You can't you can't tell me that. By the way, everybody alkaline parties at Joe's crib. Everybody be hitting me asking for

  • 2:11:42

my dermatologist info cuz I see two things that people do when they start to glow up a little bit. Everybody was

  • 2:11:48

getting their teeth done, which I haven't done yet. I'm going to see a dentist to get my [ __ ] cleaned and straightened and [ __ ] No, we got to I'm

  • 2:11:54

going to do it to the veneer [ __ ] I think I got a hookup. I ain't got the veneers yet. Dr. You going to DR for the Everybody is like, "Yo, who's your

  • 2:12:01

dermatologist?" [ __ ] want that good skin, bro. Bro, who the [ __ ] wouldn't want good skin? White people,

  • 2:12:06

cuz they got good skin already, allegedly. We age pretty pretty shitty, man. Yeah. Age like milk. Y like milk.

  • 2:12:12

We age pretty shitty. Age like milk. How do I know if I if I if my skin is good or bad? Your skin's horrible, Joe. You

  • 2:12:18

need to drink smoking. How did I not know Charlamagne would say your skin is horrible? You need to stop smoking. Have

  • 2:12:24

academics come on and talk about how bad my [ __ ] skin is. I told I told academics when he was on the like, "Yo, academics, you're getting fat." Not

  • 2:12:30

getting. He looks crazy on everyday struggle. I've never seen academics before. Everyday struggle. Yeah. No, he

  • 2:12:36

he looks like Simon. Not Alvin and Theodore. He looks like Simon. He looks a little No, Theo was the fat one. No,

  • 2:12:43

Theodore was the uh Oh, yeah. Theodore. He looks like Theo. Yeah, I'm thinking Simon was the tall one. Yeah, he look like Theodore. Looks like Theodore. All

  • 2:12:49

right, sleeper. Somebody give me a sleeper. I got it qued up. All right. Off the T pay and Lil Wayne [ __ ] that he

  • 2:12:55

dropped. Waste of this record is hard, girl. I haven't heard it yet. I beat it

  • 2:13:00

though. Say like anything with a horn.

  • 2:13:06

You like [Music] and a girl

  • 2:13:15

whispering. Lately, I've been trying to stop lying, but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't blinded by that ass girl.

  • 2:13:21

And I would go to hell as well. I said you didn't smell like Victoria Secret when you pass, girl. And the plain skirt

  • 2:13:27

you got on let a [ __ ] know that you just might have some class girl. So you got to have you some brain. with all the

  • 2:13:34

respect and you got the passenger got pass and the way pass you

  • 2:13:39

pass you man can rap though is underated one of the more talented

  • 2:13:45

people's whole track but I ain't trying to butter you up I'm trying to [ __ ] you in the kitchen let me butter you up my

  • 2:13:51

manners which one you like butter or syrup let me show you what your miss butter is worth

  • 2:13:58

I haven't even heard Wayne vers I know he gets washed on this record I haven't even heard I know you

  • 2:14:03

just watch. I don't want to ruin it, but yeah, [Music]

  • 2:14:10

it better do his thing. It's not bad, but it ain't what [Music]

  • 2:14:18

pain. Construction hate. I'm with her. She be my me after I have a meal with

  • 2:14:24

her. Then I deal with her shake like a dog like a

  • 2:14:29

frog till you lose your promise. I know how to love. know what to do with your heart. Try to so much of a target I hit

  • 2:14:35

you with a dart. Was ever really that good though? Can I stick my finger in your apple?

  • 2:14:41

[Music] I mean, ask yourself that like greatest like when you said he was the greatest rapper alive. Was he ever at any

  • 2:14:49

moment alive? Honestly, greatest. I don't know. I don't think

  • 2:14:54

so. That mixtape run is what did it. One of

  • 2:15:01

those mixtapz is what was your question? Was was he ever the greatest rapper alive? I mean, greatest. No, ho was

  • 2:15:09

always there during that run, but there was definitely a case to be made cuz Wayne had taken over the world at that

  • 2:15:15

point. Yeah, but that don't mean he was the best rapper alive. He was just hot. He was He was the hottest for sure. Yeah. Oh, hottest. I mean, I would never

  • 2:15:20

say but when you're the hottest over a long period of time,

  • 2:15:26

doesn't it give you this and Wayne can actually rap? It wasn't like he was just hot cuz he made pop records. He could

  • 2:15:31

rap. Those mixtapes showed that he could rap. He could rap with the best of I think Wayne is a legend. But Wayne is another one I'm not putting in that top

  • 2:15:37

tier greatest of all time. I think he's greatest of all time based off his catalog and the things he's done and how

  • 2:15:42

long his run. So that's where I disagree because I put catalog as the number one thing that when you rank. So who's and

  • 2:15:48

and with top tier cuz top tier to me is the hoes. You know, Nas, Pac, Big, you

  • 2:15:56

know who I mean, I'm not putting him over those. Yeah. Who do you take off that list to put Wayne on? Wayne goes in the next generation of of

  • 2:16:04

greats. All All those people you just said are 90s people. Wayne ran last decade. Him and 50. And J and Yay. Yeah.

  • 2:16:12

And Yay. I would say Yay. Fifth and and Wayne were the three. J had a run, but it wasn't to stop sleeping on J, bro.

  • 2:16:19

Yeah, I would never for got me [ __ ] up.

  • 2:16:25

Yeah, Drake's just been going on a lot longer. You want my sleeper? Terrible.

  • 2:16:30

This is my This is my sleeper from the best album out right now of the moment. I want to hear this Killer Mike [ __ ]

  • 2:16:36

This is all smart [ __ ] from the south ain't don't look alike. Right. This is

  • 2:16:42

David Banner. Killer Mike do look like David Banner though. David Banner, Black Thought and Watch the Duck is called Who

  • 2:16:49

Want It? Off the God Box. Black Thought will pop up just to kill you and remind

  • 2:16:54

    you. Yep. Beat it

  • 2:16:59

    [Music]

  • 2:17:11

hard to I got the word play a wireless work ethic of your core. I was sent into

  • 2:17:17

the future with a message from the moors. I went to war. My weapon just a blessing from the Lord. Rest assured

  • 2:17:22

that my b is more mighty than a sword. I got plans. I'm taking my revenge like rock sand. My man swam here from

  • 2:17:29

Mississippi. Godamn y'all fall for anything. That's the [ __ ] I cannot stand. We on that CNB basically all we

  • 2:17:36

got. Fam. Y'all know my lineage is godliness and cleanliness. Always used to sing how we should try a little

  • 2:17:41

tenderness. But they ultra envious crazy disingenuous like who need an enemy if

  • 2:17:46

that's what type of friend you resolve. Pull on capers and donor a skyscraper defy nature. Leave them stuff like fly

  • 2:17:53

paper. Whoever said we not at the top of the totem was smoking the Mar ODM. You bring the bar lower, we pack them and

  • 2:18:00

bar code them. After it's all over, I capture the far Nova back to the Mars rover. Then let's say Gopher comes me

  • 2:18:07

with the camera. I smash the vocal roof and turn back [ __ ]

  • 2:18:14

That's normal. That's regular for like going to surprise you.

  • 2:18:22

    [Music]

  • 2:18:27

    Ain't [Music]

  • 2:18:33

nobody foxing in and white cooking police. Y'all can all eat a dick. See, I

  • 2:18:38

tried King's Peace. Kids dying in the streets. Crack sold over beats. See, religion is a leash. It's all slavery to

  • 2:18:44

me. [ __ ] to gods, lies to [ __ ] [ __ ] are grown. Demons on the internet. They got eyes in your home,

  • 2:18:50

eyes in your cell phones, eyes in your dollar bill. See, they break my

  • 2:18:57

    [Music]

  • 2:19:07

grand suicide. Then they sweep that [ __ ] under the rug. [ __ ] a plug. Unless he has the key to get free and a boat

  • 2:19:14

strong enough to drag the sip across the sea. See, I should have on the game, but now I take a master with a band and all

  • 2:19:21

of y'all little [ __ ] in the sea and all of y'all are getting wet. It's the rain of the tech. Y'all [ __ ] hit the

  • 2:19:27

weak nuts. Yeah, I love the crowd, but tonight [ __ ] I beat guts encore. If I clap your scalp and your feet touch guns

  • 2:19:34

with your finger and the trigger don't mean much, [ __ ] Who? All right. I I just don't

  • 2:19:41

understand how we care about what Yachty and all them doing when that type of good [ __ ] is out there, bro. Banner's

  • 2:19:47

delivery is very underrated. Oh my god. Like that that's this whole album is phenomenal. The god I'm going to check

  • 2:19:54

his last album. Was it the one with Ninth Wonder or he put one after? Yeah. Uh um what was the joint with Knife Wonder? [ __ ] um I can't remember the

  • 2:20:01

name of that [ __ ] Yeah. Shout the knife as well. The Ninth Wonder project though. Well, what are you playing? Belly. No, that's a artist I just I

  • 2:20:08

bumped into. bumped into this [ __ ] man. Bumped into with the bag. Bumped into I know. I know. I know you did. No,

  • 2:20:15

literally I literally found him like just watching uh Revolt, actually. I saw his video and I thought I thought So was

  • 2:20:20

watching Revolt. Wow. So did he gave Did he gave you a bag and hell no man? This is um Is this Machine Gun Kelly? No,

  • 2:20:26

this is Rolling Stone P called Machine Gun Kellyy's underrated. He is. He smacked that freestyle whatever that was just out. Wait, what's this guy's name?

  • 2:20:33

Rolling Stone P. It's called Little Do They Know.

  • 2:20:39

I like that ad lip. That's a young right. Not

  • 2:20:44

necessarily. Do they know I got the [Music]

  • 2:20:50

Pos? Yeah. Yeah. Do they know I give a [ __ ] about the trick? Do they know I came from nothing?

  • 2:20:58

    I've heard this song a 100 times from a 100 different rappers.

  • 2:21:05

They all rappers making the same

  • 2:21:11

[ __ ] Yeah. Judge a man by the look in his eyes when you see him,

  • 2:21:17

man. You can lose that. Don't lose that. Don't lose it. Strong will bend.

  • 2:21:26

Little [ __ ] but I will stand tall. Yeah, that [ __ ] kind of breaks on my back like a laborer. I like all about

  • 2:21:35

    us. Where's he from?

  • 2:21:44

    Jersey. He's from Jersey. Wow.

  • 2:21:50

Jersey. This song is hard. This [ __ ] is hard, man. I'm about to find this

  • 2:21:56

[ __ ] Hey, this is from Jersey. Do they know I got

  • 2:22:03

to say we got to find them

  • 2:22:09

    over nothing. I screaming

  • 2:22:16

run. That's why you like this song. [Music]

  • 2:22:27

I go I go. Yeah. I play I play. That's it. Y always got to bleed us with the

  • 2:22:33

whole song. By the way, it's very debatable uh that the South had a longer run than '90s New York hip hop, bro.

  • 2:22:41

Oh, is that something I said? You said that before. Oh, you were looking at me. I I think I think the South has had a

  • 2:22:47

longer run and I think the South has had more influence on the culture overall

  • 2:22:55

because you know you got a rapper from Jersey sounding like that. Like this is

  • 2:23:00

the home of Red Man and Naughty by Nature and Joe Buddton and now he sounds like that. A rapper from Jersey. Now you

  • 2:23:06

got to hear my new [ __ ] It sound like that too. The lines blurred. You think about

  • 2:23:11

designer from Brooklyn. Like the lines is blurred. The south hasn't changed.

  • 2:23:16

No. No. You had [ __ ] in the south. When New York ran [ __ ] you had you had [ __ ] in the south trying to rap like

  • 2:23:23

that. Outcast never really tried to rap like New York dudes. They was just dope lyrically. Goody sonically sounded

  • 2:23:28

different, but they was rapping. Goody Mob never tried to sound like New York dudes. They just was rapping. You named

  • 2:23:34

But that was a New York thing, wasn't they? Not anomalies. Goody Mob and Outcast are two of the greatest [ __ ] But I say that's how the South changed.

  • 2:23:40

It went from Outcast and to snap musicalities. They're not anomalies because that's what the South was built

  • 2:23:45

on. The South was built on that. It was built on the ghetto boy. It's built on UGK people that were actually rapping and a bunch of trash in the South, too.

  • 2:23:52

Does rapping not come from New York? So, it came from New York. Okay. It sounds like New York. It don't sound like TI

  • 2:23:58

    didn't sound like Jay-Z. TI didn't Jay-Z didn't sound like Nas. I mean, during

  • 2:24:05

the snap era, they was rapping more like a New York rapper would than someone from their area. No, man. The South has

  • 2:24:10

probably had a longer run if you're starting it from 96 Outcast. Are you starting it from Outcast? But they

  • 2:24:16

weren't Outcast. Atlanta was not running things. Outcast was just doing great with starting. By the way, they were

  • 2:24:21

getting booed then at the Source Awards. I would remember. Yeah. I would I would start it from I honestly would start it

  • 2:24:27

    from like 200 two.

  • 2:24:32

Oh, then you lose. We started from there. And I'm not saying in 2002 they was running. That was Rockefeller Murder

  • 2:24:39

Inc. Prime LL's first album came out what year?

  • 2:24:44

    86. That's just a thrown out. And how long was LL's run? I'm not talking about

  • 2:24:49

his run. I'm just talking about uh the New York. Y'all didn't Y'all didn't talk about that either. L tweeted out um Oh,

  • 2:24:54

    the meatball [ __ ] I don't want to because you're right, old [ __ ] We're going to come off that

  • 2:25:00

way. We're going to always do though. I don't think there's ever been a rapper that's damn near had a hit in every

  • 2:25:06

single era. And it's not LL. What are you talking about? I mean, not as of recent, but LL, come on, man. LL from

  • 2:25:12

the beginning. Beginning beginning all the way, bro. Stop it. L hasn't had you saw when LL threatened me on Instagram

  • 2:25:18

when he Oh, so that's why you're saying when you put up the video of him boxing, he was like, "You're a bully."

  • 2:25:24

I didn't see that one. Was it like when Meek was boxing? Probably not. LL [ __ ] you up, but that probably explain why.

  • 2:25:30

No, no, no. [ __ ] you. No. LL will [ __ ] you up. That explains why Charlotte may be in the gym. You

  • 2:25:42

loosen SWAT, whatever show that is. You know, you never heard that story when LL beat up

  • 2:25:48

the robber that came in his house. Like he call somebody's house and beat the [ __ ] out of him. I believe it. No. L [ __ ] you up. Yeah. It's not even a

  • 2:25:54

question. But he's not going to [ __ ] you up in the booth in 2017. No, I disagree. He's still calling people meatballs.

  • 2:26:00

That's [ __ ] hilarious. But meatballs is always going to be a funny name. I don't care whatever somebody call you meatball. That's funny. All right, I'm

  • 2:26:06

playing my sleeper and I'm getting the [ __ ] out of here. This is uh this is on T Pay Soundcloud page and it's called

  • 2:26:14

You Don't Know [ __ ] This has zero to do with T Wayne. I saw T pay a lot of love. Salute to Tay. Me and T got a show

  • 2:26:19

together. Yeah, you got a lot going on. I do actually. But yeah. Oh yeah. You're

  • 2:26:25

oversaturating yourself. I'm not on the show. The content's about to get trashed on the show. Yeah, but you got a lot

  • 2:26:31

going on between the podcast, uncommon sense, the breakfast club, the book to

  • 2:26:37

hear show. You got a lot of show. Let me just

  • 2:26:42

play my record, man. You be

  • 2:26:47

like watch your ass. You be like that.

  • 2:26:56

Got to turn the wolfers down this [Music]

  • 2:27:01

[ __ ] And I be [Music] like go do it. Don't do it. That's my

  • 2:27:10

line. Do it. Go. I'mma let you stress yourself out. Move on to the next pass

  • 2:27:17

out. This ain't no test. Baby

  • 2:27:24

[ __ ] You be getting wrong. You be

  • 2:27:31

    getting [ __ ] You be

  • 2:27:38

getting this is every girl. I am all about your [ __ ] But your

  • 2:27:44

[ __ ] really ain't going to make me chill. Is it looking at you like oh really having real that don't make you

  • 2:27:50

real with the sauce in the morning. I put this [ __ ] me right on your grill.

  • 2:27:57

[Music] Baby, I'll be cooking too much to eat.

  • 2:28:05

You ain't helping me get on my feet. Let's see how your [ __ ] do in the streets. And I'll be like, "Oh, oh, you

  • 2:28:13

said you going to give up on my car. That ain't nothing but a pain job." But when I'm a bad [ __ ] show up at your

  • 2:28:19

job, I'mma look at you like go do it. Go do it. I'm let you

  • 2:28:27

go do it. Whatever. I like to handle it, man. How

  • 2:28:33

does the culture not [ __ ] with T pay no more, bro? How does the label his label? I blame his label. Nah, I can't blame

  • 2:28:40

the label no more because T pay should be at the point where he don't even need a [ __ ] label at this point. Like we should be [ __ ] with Trip for that

  • 2:28:46

dope ass music. Mhm. T Pay I think is still as talented as he's ever been. Absolutely. If not more. Yeah. So I

  • 2:28:52

don't I mean I I'm saying I don't know how the coach doesn't [ __ ] with him no more. I really think it's and I would say music changed but Payne been singing

  • 2:28:58

that [ __ ] I think he could still find a lane within this. I think Future took his trap. No.

  • 2:29:05

I think Future took his trap. No. I don't know if Payne uh because I think Payne could survive on his own

  • 2:29:10

musically. He can go to Empire and [ __ ] pop off. I don't know if he's out of that contract or if he's able to get out that contract with J. J don't

  • 2:29:17

even exist no more, does it? Wasn't he with J? Last time I saw Pay in the studio, him him and I were talking about

  • 2:29:24

his the label plans, what the label wants to do. He was playing fire after fire after fire. And I'm sitting there

  • 2:29:30

like, when is this stuff coming out? He's like, hold the label. I I've been disassociated from that pain. I don't

  • 2:29:36

understand when you start talking about the label. Uh, he's also a great personality. He's hilarious.

  • 2:29:51

Tot 48 laws of power [ __ ] 48 TV shows. Nor calls me slime crust. Yeah. I

  • 2:29:58

got a lot. I mean, that's another I mean, those are a lot of seeds I planted in the past couple years that haven't even sprouted yet. Like that's going to

  • 2:30:04

be the other thing that hits and they going to be like this [ __ ] got all these different shows that he's EPing. Yeah. Show them the main. You

  • 2:30:10

don't need What do you think? Um do you think 50 will fear well as a late night host on BET? I don't see it. I don't I

  • 2:30:18

mean I think 50 would be good if he had like a variety show. I don't think he's a like a a Jimmy Kimmel Co bear fallon.

  • 2:30:25

I think the late night show probably will be a variety show. It need to be like a variety show where he's doing like sketches and I definitely can't see

  • 2:30:30

50 doing no interviews with nobody. I I do like who who would 50 interview like interview that would be funny to watch.

  • 2:30:36

Whoever he interviewed you would watch it. That's a justosition. So it' be funny to watch. I think they'd have to they'd have to switch it up. Like if I

  • 2:30:42

was EP in that show, I would tell 50 like go do field pieces with people instead of sitting down on a couch like

  • 2:30:47

having a conversation like go out with somebody and do something. I don't [ __ ] is really articulate. Sean is really Did

  • 2:30:54

you just hear him? He's really in executive producer mode. I've been executive producing everyday struggle for the past two weeks. Y'all not

  • 2:31:00

listening. If you listen to me, I can get this whole [ __ ] moving. Or you really are. And this is all just a conspiracy.

  • 2:31:07

I mean, I'm listen behind the scenes, man. I don't think we not popping up at Complex in a minute. You think that

  • 2:31:13

Who's we like? I got some things about to cook up. Charlemagne and the gods. They coming.

  • 2:31:19

The gods. Charlemagne. Charlemagne is my guy. I

  • 2:31:24

will allow him in the building. Yeah, I will allow him. I will allow him. But we've been we've been working

  • 2:31:30

on that for a long I mean not a long time but about about 8 nine months. But what is it? I think it's great. I can't

  • 2:31:36

say yet. But then shut the [ __ ] up. Don't come here talking about the biggest.

  • 2:31:41

Yo, this [ __ ] this [ __ ] is a good industry guy. I can't put that out there. Uh do we have any final words?

  • 2:31:46

What's everybody's Memorial Day plans before we get out of here? Anything fun? Anything interesting? That's this weekend for the people that do not know

  • 2:31:52

like me if you don't have a check your calendar or know what date it is. Rory got a henny palooa. Yeah, it's sold out already though. So, I mean, Irish Nasty

  • 2:31:59

will be in Tony Island. Island, you nasty little Irish.

  • 2:32:05

All you got to do is go up to the gate, ask for Irish Mcnasty at the door.

  • 2:32:10

Mcnasty. Mick. Uh, Mo, I might go to Vegas. I might do Vegas. The Wizards

  • 2:32:16

playing? No. Stanley Johnson birthday, so we might celebrate out there. This nigga's a Hollywood [ __ ] No, that's my young

  • 2:32:22

boy. Why do you know Stanley Johnson? He played with the Pistons with with BJ. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I like

  • 2:32:28

him a lot. I like him a lot. Is he still good? Is he a bust? No. Why would you say one of the people that got a quarter

  • 2:32:34

million in the mattress? Absolutely. I wish. I've been trying to figure all

  • 2:32:40

out for at least 10 years, man. At least 10 years. Good. Uh I want to thank

  • 2:32:45

Charlemagne again for coming. Thank you for having me. Charlmagne, I'm not here to sabotage any of Joe Button Joe Button

  • 2:32:52

platforms. I will fire academics before that happens.

  • 2:32:57

That shouldn't happen. Okay. No, no, that's my guy. No, we need him. We need him. We need No, no, no. And we need him

  • 2:33:03

to be good. We need We need Joe to focus and we need Joe to respect academics. Act is not the problem in this situation, Joe. Everyday struggle

  • 2:33:10

depends on you. Debatable. No. If you look at those comments, it's all people.

  • 2:33:15

I'm here for academics. I'm here for academics. I'm not really here for him. No. No. They starting to like Joe. But

  • 2:33:20

the joke, they're so fickle. Let me be very clear with y'all. And I told them all before this podcast started, the

  • 2:33:25

industry should have gotten rid of me when they tried to. Damn it. I agree. They should have because they wanted me

  • 2:33:31

    gone and now I'm here. I ain't here to be liked. I don't give a [ __ ] what them YouTube [ __ ] say about me. I'm still

  • 2:33:37

here. I think you I think you and I are doing the right thing though by bringing the listeners along for the ride though.

  • 2:33:43

Letting them know the issues, letting them know the things y'all don't like, the things y'all don't agree on cuz we live in an age of transparency. You got

  • 2:33:49

to do that. Yeah. I think the next I think the next 5 to 10 years in in

  • 2:33:55

broadcasting and media and journalism, I think you're going to have to be raw and uncut. And I I don't think it's I think

  • 2:34:01

we're in the information age. Fans are going to consumers are smarter than they want information. They want the information. We always should have been

  • 2:34:06

like that. Do y'all realize everybody who cut through was like that. Pety Green, Star, Howard Stern, Wendy

  • 2:34:12

Williams. What do you think of Star's run? Um I thought he had a great run. I thought Star was one of the best. I don't like how it ended. Was it too

  • 2:34:19

short of a run? Cuz we had that conversation. I just don't like how it ended. Like I tell people all the time to be starting, you got like you got to

  • 2:34:26

be starting out. Like the ending is very important to me. I let him tell he's doing what he wants to do and making money. He might he might be, but I I

  • 2:34:32

know I don't want to be let out of the radio station in handcuffs. And that's not a disar at all. I know he'll talk he'll take it as such. You know what I'm

  • 2:34:38

saying? I think Star Well, I haven't walked out of walked out of concerts and handcuffs. I I think Star is one I I

  • 2:34:45

always cite Star as an influence. I think Star that's for listeners. It was too short of a run. I was upset when he

  • 2:34:50

left. When it was Star Buck and Miss Jones, that's probably the greatest radio show of all time. Like a morning

  • 2:34:55

show to me. To me, Star Buck and Miss Jones together was

  • 2:35:01

the was it was was phenomenal. Yeah. Were you Miss Jones's competition at one point in Philly or did y'all work

  • 2:35:07

together? Yes, I was. Miss Jones. I was actually beat Miss Jones a few times. I

  • 2:35:12

did. I thought you said you know when I got fired when I got fired from Philly I had like the number two show number three show in this city. Yep.

  • 2:35:19

Absolutely. I like him squashing the beef with this podcast but I think I think you're going to be on Vlad's couch

  • 2:35:24

    tomorrow talking [ __ ] I I haven't done Vlad in a long time. I don't think I love Vlad, but I I don't I'm not can't

  • 2:35:30

do Vlad anymore. Vlad is not a friend of Vlad man he he's probably hearing this now but that's my guy. But it's just like [ __ ] you then if you're listening.

  • 2:35:36

It's like uh I don't like the direction Vlad went in, but it's like I just don't like it. Just certain [ __ ] just didn't

  • 2:35:42

agree with me. A lot of stuff I used to see on I'm like what? Why are you interviewing this echoing what we say? I

  • 2:35:47

knew he had morals underneath all of this puppet [ __ ] Yeah, I did. That's why I'm sitting here. I'm just listening, man. Like I really had

  • 2:35:54

Charlamagne pegged all wrong. I think I did. That has been my entire beef with Charlemagne. I think so. That's why I'm

  • 2:36:00

listening a lot. My beef with Charlemagne is who I think he is and sometimes how he comes off. It just

  • 2:36:06

don't match. This is Charlemagne. What What am I any other time? I I don't know. N

  • 2:36:12

man. What am I? I don't know. You are you are socially conscious. You are You

  • 2:36:18

are all of these amazing things, but you got got this other side, man. I'm watching this guy. I'm me all the time.

  • 2:36:25

But yeah, I got to have a conversation with Vlad. I'm going to tell you what Vlad really turned me off. Did you see when he had Ron Brows on? Uh, no.

  • 2:36:32

Refresh me on the story. Ron Brow on and he asked Ron because Ron He didn't know that that was Tupac at the beginning of Ether, right? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So,

  • 2:36:39

he asked if Tupac was alive when came out. We asked him what Tupac was alive

  • 2:36:45

when Ether came out. Oh my god. See, people that don't know about it,

  • 2:36:52

    it's 40 plus. That's crazy. Shows he doesn't give a [ __ ] Y'all don't give that clown ass [ __ ] a space in this

  • 2:36:59

culture, man. Why don't you like Vlad though? Like, why don't you person I don't dislike him personally. Vlad's actually my man, but you know, like I

  • 2:37:07

    don't I don't like him personally. I I'm always have problem with a [ __ ] that start some [ __ ] and

  • 2:37:12

then sue when it get thick. That's one. So, I didn't like how I handled the raw situation. But totally outside of that,

  • 2:37:19

I watched them do some some some sneaky, backhanded, shy, shady things to people

  • 2:37:25

that I love while their life was on the line. And just cuz crook and them [ __ ] forgive all that [ __ ] I don't. I ain't

  • 2:37:32

as forgiving as them. See, that's some industry [ __ ] I don't know what Joe's talking about.

  • 2:37:37

But it sounds deeper than Well, it speaks it speaks to and this is years ago. This is I'm talking about

  • 2:37:44

2010, 2009, 2010. So recently, we're seeing all of these people speak to

  • 2:37:49

Vlad's [ __ ] lack of whatever he does. I don't know what he does now cuz I don't check for that [ __ ] but he was

  • 2:37:55

doing it back then and he was doing it with real street [ __ ] involved and it just caused some people, you know, can't

  • 2:38:01

    talk about it really here. No, that's happened. I don't move I don't I don't [ __ ] with him because you're not going to he you're not going to [ __ ] behave

  • 2:38:08

that way. I just I hate that [ __ ] man. I hate I just hate him. Hey, I got to have a conversation with Vlad after

  • 2:38:14

because I consider him somebody that's my guy I got to have a conversation with and so many [ __ ] that I I respect like I respect Star. Star speaks very highly

  • 2:38:20

of Vlad. Vlad's actually I respect you. You speak very highly of which is I love Lord Jamar. Lord Jamar speaks highly of

  • 2:38:28

Vlad. I'm like y'all saying something different. I don't think Vlad knows the things he's doing is detrimental to the

  • 2:38:34

culture. Like I don't think he's purposely saying y'all do. I think he's really just looking to get hits. But he doesn't realize he's gonna get one as

  • 2:38:40

soon as I see him. But you can't. As soon as I see him. He got a few of them coming his way. I got the the money to the side. Why you want to hit Vlad for?

  • 2:38:46

Cuz I do. Cuz I'm selfish. Who did he interview that went in on Joe? I didn't see that one. Do your Googles. Well, no,

  • 2:38:52

actually it's him. Well, ours history is is long and dark. I don't know anything about that. Yeah. No, I've been telling him off for about 10 years now. That

  • 2:38:59

long? Yeah. It's all on YouTube. Angela Ye show before there was a Twitter. Angela Yei actually is the perfect

  • 2:39:05

person to speak to about this cuz she's the one. It was her show where I'm calling where me and Vlad basically had

  • 2:39:11

it out. It's all online. I think it was 2009, 2010. And basically I was saying to him, "Is this your idea of journalism? Like the [ __ ] that you're

  • 2:39:17

reporting about, the [ __ ] that you're perpetuating, the [ __ ] that you're instigating? Like for real, my [ __ ] Like, is this who you are?" And this is

  • 2:39:23

when I was [ __ ] with him. So, I mean, I learned about him rather quickly. I think the rest of the world learned about him now, and it's a little quiet

  • 2:39:30

for him. Man, I just don't like I just don't like some stuff I saw. I a couple things I saw last year. And I'm like,

  • 2:39:35

nah, this ain't this ain't it, my girl. Again, I don't know him personally, but I that stuff when he put old boy talking

  • 2:39:40

about murdering a kid, I was like, this is [ __ ] that don't need to be. There you go. There you go. And by the way, that

  • 2:39:46

led to real [ __ ] happening in Atlanta. Yeah. That I know of. So, it's like, no, I don't know of. But that right there is

  • 2:39:52

my problem with Vlad. It leads to real [ __ ] happening and then your disposition is very different. It's very different

  • 2:39:59

then. It's not just I'm reporting the news. That's further. Now you're giving someone a platform that wants to talk

  • 2:40:04

    about murdering someone's child. That's not a That's not journalism. That's stupid [ __ ] Yeah. Listen, where's that

  • 2:40:11

aux? This was great. I have to end with Oh, I think Treyarch says Listen, go buy

  • 2:40:17

black privilege. I don't know if this audience reads, but uh Black Privilege

  • 2:40:24

opportunity comes to those who created is out right now. We just don't read a book a hour like you. This [ __ ] done

  • 2:40:29

read every damn book. Well, if you like podcast, I narrated my own books as well. So, you know, it's been it's been

  • 2:40:34

uh on the New York Times bestsellers list for four weeks in a row. I love seeing the culture line up for books the

  • 2:40:39

way they line up for Yeezys and Jordans because the book to be honest with you, touched on Shaman and Shustster really

  • 2:40:44

fronted on me. Like, they didn't put out a lot when it when it first dropped, you know, and it sold out and they haven't

  • 2:40:50

been able to keep up. So, that's a good thing. Uh where do people get the audio version? iTunes, Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, wherever you buy books. No, no.

  • 2:40:57

The the just the audio version, not the actual physical book. Amazon. I didn't know they had audio book. I'm ignorant,

  • 2:41:03

man. I thought you get everything audio from iTunes. iTunes. You get off iTunes, too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You taught me

  • 2:41:08

something uh during our Twitter exchange when when you said u the Grammy nod that

  • 2:41:13

you did the audio. Uh what did you say? Give me the You did the audio. Yeah. And they told me they told me I could get

  • 2:41:19

nominated for a Grammy. Yeah. I didn't know that. That was new information to me. I didn't know that. But I mean like Barack Obama got a Grammy like like you

  • 2:41:25

can like Joan Rivers got one for like her audio book. Like I didn't know that either. But yeah. So that'll be dope for

  • 2:41:31

the culture. I have to support Charlemagne getting his Grammy and moving up in his career even though I'm

  • 2:41:37

going to catch his ass. Yeah. You're not going to catch me because we're not even doing Well, you're better. You're better

  • 2:41:42

humans. I'm going to go to jail and we're not doing the same things. I mean Joe,

  • 2:41:48

listen. I want to produce. You I think you got great ideas. I want to produce. I know for a fact you got great ideas for a horror movie.

  • 2:41:57

I guarantee you would just be Joe's got a great murder mystery biography. I know

  • 2:42:02

he does. I do. I know he does. I can tell he watches way too much CSI and all that other [ __ ] I can listen to certain

  • 2:42:08

artists and tell who can be a dope filmmaker. Styles could be a dope filmmaker. Prodigy from Mob Deep would be an amazing filmmaker. Joe would be an

  • 2:42:15

I can tell. I can tell you would you would produce my [ __ ] if you wasn't worried about that to

  • 2:42:21

hear it. You gonna do it to hear it, too. I'm out and I'm not watching that

  • 2:42:27

    show.
