- 0:10
haven't spoken to you people in quite some time it's been a week I was kind of off you [ __ ] last
- 0:17
week though we had a good podcast last week I thought H yeah it was cool I thought we we did well I didn't want to
- 0:22
see you [ __ ] that was a long week last week for me you've been kind of media man for the past two weeks too much too
- 0:28
much I need to relax yeah see what happens when you actually like work too much work I don't see how you [ __ ] do
- 0:34
it it's nice it's nice to see a rapper step into the real world and see what the regular folk have to do to survive I
- 0:41
ain't going to lie all that working days longer than 6 hours oh my God traveling
- 0:46
from place to place I wasn't even driving and I was mad hold up let me intro this [ __ ] podcast what's it uh
- 0:52
what episode is this 10 something we're not in 10 anything we are in the team we're not in 110 this should be like 120
- 1:00
it's a holiday man all right so anyway it's the Joe Button holiday edition podcast even though by the time you're
- 1:07
hearing this it is no longer a podcast it should be episode 119 to 20 but we've been [ __ ] the episode number up for quite some time so y'all should be used
- 1:13
to it um exactly see I told you i' be right more than I be wrong debatable episode
- 1:20
119 of the Joe Buton podcast I'm your host Joe Buton the cross for me is Rory Lanes to his right is is Chris actually
- 1:29
and to his left is nobody Maul is not here where is Maul I don't know Maul's
- 1:35
in La okay I know that because you text me a few days ago and said hey is Maul in LA and I said uh let me hit him Maul
- 1:42
just comes and goes as he pleases pause who goes to La for Fourth of July now I
- 1:47
kind of knew Maul wouldn't be here for a plethora of reasons one uh with free
- 1:53
agency with free agency in the league just running rampid uh I figured Maul
- 1:59
would be out out there trying to get the latest the latest update he's just traveling from office to office Maul is
- 2:05
the biggest Chris Paul fan in the world so I'm sure he's just traveling uh the Houston Rocket rumors and Melo to to the
- 2:12
rocket rumors how quick do you think Chris Paul will get sick of James Harden I got I got them [ __ ] fighting before
- 2:19
Allstar break I don't James Harden proved that he could be a point guard I
- 2:25
I didn't see the point of why why Chris Paul because James Harden was winded and exhausted uh by the last game of the
- 2:32
playoff series which they got ousted the Conference Final yeah but I just don't know if a point guard is the one that's going to take that ex you need help if
- 2:40
you're if you're building to beat the the Warriors which everybody should be then you need you need help James Harden
- 2:46
can't beat the Warriors of course well I don't think anyone can beat the Warriors even with all these switches uh Melo
- 2:53
Chris Paul Harden that capella kid uh
- 2:58
and everybody and uh along with Eric Gordon and and whoever else they got nah
- 3:04
yeah I could see it and I didn't want to start this talking about sports anyway but mul is out there chasing the latest
- 3:09
and free agency that number one number two I knew with with the release of hov's album we wouldn't be seen them all
- 3:16
I was well I was with Mo I went to the uh listening session at 4040 wait y'all went to that we did yeah y y'all [ __ ]
- 3:23
are well M see mul's got an excuse well mul's got an excuse you on the other
- 3:28
hand what a [ __ ] hype Beast yeah I know were you in that crowd of that I
- 3:33
saw pictures of yes you were me and Maul had our had our own little table area oh
- 3:38
my God it's even worse it's worse that's dis was there uh who else was there don't snitch now and try to make it cool
- 3:46
no I I'm take trying to take the advice of my friends low and Cass say that I should go out more cuz I'm I'm very
- 3:52
antisocial and I don't do the industry events anymore cuz I hate them so I said if all right if I'm going to start this
- 3:57
I'm going to take your advice I'm going to start with JayZ I could handle a Jay-Z listening but the moment the [ __ ]
- 4:03
hits midnight right everyone has their title accounts I can see that the [ __ ] uh album is out and Elliot
- 4:10
Wilson can't get the [ __ ] speakers to work it's like 12:15 I'm like all right Fam I'm out of here they play kill J
- 4:15
Wilson is in the story now too I think he was hosting I'm telling you that this St well see he's got a reason now too he
- 4:22
works for title yeah Elliot you can't work for title and not be able to get the speakers to work so the speakers
- 4:28
eventually do work and and it's the most muffled [ __ ] ever and I just abruptly leave and get in an Uber and listen to
- 4:36
it in the Uber in traffic and the link Chris I can't believe I'm going to be talking to Chris a lot our our camera
- 4:42
guy uh because Maul's not here and Chris is intriguing Rory went Rory's that
- 4:50
guy don't try don't try to start a serious story where I'm intrigued in the story no I'm going to get these jokes
- 4:56
off you went to 4040 on the to hear the release of the greatest album with
- 5:03
Elliot Wilson Manning the aux cord I did yeah you were in that [ __ ] nasty
- 5:09
messy picture I saw which was the picture I was in the tuck no we had our own little table we were ordering food I
- 5:16
wasn't I wasn't on you know the steps at 4040 where that's where the show was have some self-respect where did you
- 5:22
listen to the album home [ __ ] where the [ __ ] where Rory is that
- 5:28
guy like I'm the same person I want to hear the album at home well I wanted to celebrate the greatest rapper of all
- 5:34
time putting out an album 444 4040 a lot of fours Maul is
- 5:42
Rockefeller kind of but Rockefeller was all in La there was L really nobody at the [ __ ]
- 5:48
Maul would be the first person to put the link in our group chat did he yes I
- 5:53
was going mind you people in our group chat the only two people to really post the links are ice and Rory if you're
- 6:01
listening music feds wondering who's out there posting links it's still ice and
- 6:07
don't don't think he stopped that whole folder [ __ ] he's still bootlegging music and Rory right so when Maul is the first
- 6:15
when Maul is the first person to drop the link in the group chat sitting next to me Maul had that Maul had Maul had
- 6:21
that link for a while that's what I reped in the chat like oh mul had this for 10 minutes I said mul had this for a week a week mul might been there with
- 6:30
Guru and them [ __ ] one of them weeks we ain't do a podcast mommy having a whole lot of Hove and a whole lot of
- 6:36
party next door he think we don't know about word and I will say uh music
- 6:41
people that are listening since now we know music people listen to this podcast uh he doesn't share it he doesn't share
- 6:47
it no he he doesn't give it up he he'll tell us yo party got some [ __ ] coming won't play it yeah it won't play it
- 6:53
won't send you a link won't nothing we'll just tell you that some great [ __ ] is coming uh party been kicking ass
- 6:59
right away but that's like my seventh topic that I want to talk about well let's stay let's stay at 440 wait let's
- 7:05
not get to 44 you rushing my [ __ ] now I ain't but too much to talk about um I want to commend you and I I want to
- 7:12
commend you and I for being here right now yeah I was a little upset it's nice
- 7:18
out I wanted to cancel I I I know you want it to cancel I hey I ain't G to lie
- 7:23
I woke up this morning see that's why I don't like committing to plans cuz we committed to this a few days ago yeah
- 7:29
but when I committed I had a lead for something that would have been great and then once that didn't happen I kind of
- 7:36
wanted to I could have told you that wasn't going to turn around that fast Rory's got a a kick-ass interview planned that uh every everybody's pretty
- 7:44
excited about I just thought maybe it could work no not that fast [ __ ] like that this has been through January no
- 7:51
it's real now I know all of that when he when he had emailed me and said yo this why I wasn't trying to play you now you
- 7:56
see why I was like well obviously no that means now just going to play you a little less but you understand cuz he's
- 8:03
playing me too I mean he's hitting me back he has hit me back at least is he in Jersey or is he still in La no he's
- 8:10
back he's just chilling he listens to the show he told me he never miss an episode so he's listening to us banter about how upset we are well no I'm not
- 8:18
upset I didn't think he was coming this episode listen man I'll be upset if the whole month of July passes and you just
- 8:24
yeah I won't be upset then I don't he's one of the nicest people in yeah I don't have entitlement issues he's great he's
- 8:30
awesome but so Rory's got uh some real kickass [ __ ] planned uh but it's the 4th of July and we're here we are but then
- 8:37
again what we going to do my entire family is grilling at my house in my
- 8:43
absence but that's why we came early like it's the food will be ready by the time we get there no it was prepped
- 8:48
since last night I think it's kind of ready my pop it's one of those things my little brothers nieces nephews cousins
- 8:55
and [ __ ] it's like one of those and I'm here recording because the pressure of not releasing a podcast and you guys
- 9:01
tearing our mentions up for one week we have succumbed to it luckily we're not sensitive our fans are kind of [ __ ]
- 9:07
mean well so to me at least you'll be able to be mean to us face to face uh
- 9:12
the 21st of this month July 21st we at Highline Ballroom um for a live podcast
- 9:18
and we've got some we've got some tricks up our sleeves for the people that are in attendance you'll only be able to
- 9:24
hear this content there by the way we are not releasing the audio because it's too much of headache yeah that's really
- 9:30
just the most honest reason now well I mean they killed us for our SS one anyways the audio wasn't great anyways
- 9:35
and it was just yeah but South by loved how we did the fan interaction [ __ ] and didn't put it out and just recapped it
- 9:41
just come it's good to kick it with you [ __ ] uh now uh
- 9:47
444 444 what I don't even know how you say it I don't I'm going to go with 444
- 9:54
considering it was the time I would say 444 I wouldn't say four if you ask me
- 9:59
the time I wouldn't say it's 444 so let's go 4 and it is the time sign in there well he said that that
- 10:06
record he woke up at woke up I read all the stories I I've read out here milking
- 10:12
it out here I woke up in a cold panic and sweat immediately grabbed my
- 10:18
invisible pen cuz you know I'm Hove I still never wrote anything down we're going to talk about that too we're going
- 10:24
to talk about just stop it man the syllable use and flow on Marc me there's
- 10:30
no [ __ ] way in hell anyone is just writing that in their heading I've never
- 10:35
believed H there's verses I could see that he could do like but Marcy me like that's pen to papery that's too good at
- 10:41
rapping hey I'm being I'm joking right now this is I'm I'm kidding around cuz I do believe that Jay is capable enough to
- 10:48
not have ever written anything down but and and the joke is much funnier so Jay we don't believe you you're definitely
- 10:54
waking up in writing I think I think he wrote down Reasonable Doubt I think down he wrote down American Gangster I think
- 10:59
he wrote down this album some of that [ __ ] is too Black Album I think there's the flows on there I think he could have
- 11:05
wrote that in his head but this [ __ ] no he's rapping he's like really rapping on this [ __ ] people have been asking me to
- 11:12
rank this album somewhere in his discography uh I think it's a bit too
- 11:19
soon for that it is I don't think I'm able to do that 72 hours after release
- 11:25
I'm still digesting I I'm still picking up part me new things as I continue to
- 11:31
listen this is a very uh layered album uh it's very
- 11:38
sophisticated um a lot to consume a lot to
- 11:43
digest um so let's before we even get into that I'll give Rory like 3% credit
- 11:51
only 3% credit because as soon as it was introduced that no ID had anything to do with this project I think a lot of
- 11:57
people who know no ID could assume that that this is the type of project we're going to get but Rory stepped out on the
- 12:02
ledge and said it uh a few what was it maybe a month something like that somewhere around there before this album
- 12:08
drops so let's take a moment and give Rory I think Trey could give me 20 minutes of hits that's my
- 12:14
congratulations wait hold intro all right this is the intro for you to get
- 12:19
some credit it's a nice holiday podcast and I want to you and I are friends again this is what this is what's going
- 12:25
to happen yeah so I mean no listen it's important that you get credit I never get credit when I start guessing [ __ ] so
- 12:30
I want to be able to give credit no well this podcast guesses a lot of [ __ ] I know we don't get credit for anything uh
- 12:36
well no it was the same thing uh cuz I oh for the backstory I said that this will be the most personal Jay-Z album
- 12:41
ever we will get a look into Jay's actual personal life vulnerability not song Cry personal cuz he was still the
- 12:48
man at the end of the song uh but I didn't think there was anything left like with lemonade Beyonce had did the
- 12:54
pop star [ __ ] she had did the I'm a sexual being album all that was left was personal life and HOV has literally done
- 13:01
everything and when you're at stardom like that you kind of have to just checklist what have I not done yet I.E
- 13:08
that's why we get shitty [ __ ] double disc from some of our favorite rappers not Jay I'm saying but I will not allow
- 13:13
just go off the checklist of the things you haven't done when you're that [ __ ] great and personal life is something we've never gotten from H and
- 13:20
he's old enough in a space to do it where it's okay cuz he's a family man
- 13:25
all of that would have been applicable during the Magna carter album as well and we still got that
- 13:32
album I don't know if he was ready for that at that time cuz he was still very much business
- 13:39
business business o and of course I do think the lemonade album I know people say oh was just a marketing thing I still think that triggered a lot of
- 13:46
putting this personal [ __ ] out I don't know if we're getting 444 without lemonade I don't think Jay has to admit
- 13:52
anything song or the album the song okay cuz wow that wow
- 13:58
vulnerability was you I mean he could come out and just say it and say there there was
- 14:04
always rumors that that type of behavior was going on after the elevator there have been rumors with HOV and women for
- 14:11
the duration of of hov's career I know that's why I'm saying still get that song but none that he's ever chosen to
- 14:18
really give a [ __ ] about or acknowledge either by the way well H's whole career has been great cuz he doesn't have to
- 14:23
acknowledge little [ __ ] like that so this is a tad bit different and it's so personal that I kind even feel weird
- 14:30
even talking about it well but okay so you were saying all right so you don't know if we get a four uh 444 without
- 14:36
limonade I I I'm inclined to agree yeah and and I think within that I think 444
- 14:42
sparked off that personal [ __ ] which you then get the kill Jay-Z uh I think he
- 14:47
gets in the vulnerable mode of his mother and her sexuality like I think that was the Catalyst to spark like all
- 14:53
right let me just go in this direction and get everything off my [ __ ] chest wait what's going on are you giving your full album analysis no the direction of
- 15:01
where things were going cuz that's not that's just half the theme though cuz you could still get the Financial Freedom album he touched on that a
- 15:08
little bit with Magna Carta but I mean the second half of Jay-Z being vulnerable is hey guys let's own our
- 15:14
[ __ ] so those are the two main things to me
- 15:19
um okay I want to be on record well I'm on record already but I'll say it again I was I hated that Magna Cart
- 15:26
album it just wasn't a great album I mean I've been on record saying that Timberland as a hip-hop producer isn't
- 15:32
my favorite so I'm not big on Timbo from just hip-hop I love his popping R&B I
- 15:38
think it's phenomenal I don't even know if I have mag Nardo on my computer I do
- 15:44
it's got some joints I maybe just have the no that's what I'm saying though I just have the songs that I like from
- 15:49
that album which is not very many I I think well I think what came from that album was the Samsung deal like a lot of
- 15:55
things to get HOV to do something there has to be another incentive other than music even though I think with this one
- 16:01
the incentive was music Magna carter was let me do this Samsung deal let me push
- 16:07
forward with my own company Rock Nation CU that was a step forward for he's still doing all of that here too I know
- 16:13
but I think the incentive with just having no ID just having these samples and not it wasn't overly produced it was
- 16:19
produced perfect in my opinion like Magna carter might have been a little overly produced it was focused Magna
- 16:25
carter was doing too much that's what I'm saying it was a lot I I think the incentive for this was just to talk I
- 16:31
got a lot to say Okay so let's start there I didn't
- 16:37
um you know after maybe my eighth listen I stopped even feeling like he was
- 16:42
rapping at all no no I felt like he was I felt it was like a battle rap but
- 16:47
without a battle he just talking to me he was just kicking it he was just talking right and you
- 16:55
know I have so many different takes about this album so I'm going to forget some of them I'm sure
- 17:01
but you know at first part of why this is so beautiful
- 17:08
and and this is this I don't know if this is a hot take or if this is a Northeast type of thing
- 17:15
but for a long time I think in the late
- 17:20
90s era in New York anyway whole big really Rockefeller and bad boy
- 17:29
there was there's a large group of people in New York that deemed that era of Hip Hop
- 17:35
responsible for black girl lost by Nas for a lot of the stereotypical ways
- 17:45
that our people think today uh New Slaves Kanye All Falls Down Kanye when
- 17:53
we heard hve and puff and big and mace and everybody body saying you know TVs
- 18:01
in the headrest uh bottles of this you know just the imagery and I don't want
- 18:06
to dwell too much on that cuz this may be a little known thing but to hear Jay go
- 18:12
from that Hove and bookmark this his career with
- 18:18
this Hove where you're correcting so many of of the false [ __ ] ideas that
- 18:27
you put out yeah but again hip-hop being so young we we
- 18:32
never saw a hip-hop age we never seen a rapper age the way HOV like I mean we've have
- 18:38
we have our ks's but not actively way no one has aged as gracefully as
- 18:45
HOV which is why at 47 48 years old we still want to hear an entire whole album
- 18:54
I can't name any any of his peers in that age group that that
- 19:00
remains true for yeah who well no I I said on Twitter Jehovah
- 19:07
is the greatest and it's not even close I can't think of anyone of it being close and I'm not just talking
- 19:12
about rapping rappy rap rap rap like Eminem of course will if you print out the lyrics it would the greatest [ __ ] ever nobody will ever outnumber Eminem
- 19:20
but as far as the discography and everything that he's done at this age
- 19:26
everything it it it it's beyond music music is I think the point with h the
- 19:32
example that he has set in business uh in in family even yeah like
- 19:41
he said quite a few examples so it hit me on that level right one two it was
- 19:48
like a [ __ ] reminder what a what a slap in the face reminder to you know I
- 19:56
get tired of sitting on that comp Le [ __ ] show and saying it's just not for me it's just not for me it's just
- 20:04
not for me it's just not for me every [ __ ] album and [ __ ] that comes out which I
- 20:11
understand why people label me a hater cuz if you just say it's not for me to everything well [ __ ] what's for
- 20:18
you well it was funny because I think a lot of things you've been getting killed
- 20:23
for on everyday struggle this past 6 months was on that whole album but here
- 20:28
the thing hve is very good at wording things like the nose ring [ __ ] with with Pac like all right old guys Pac still
- 20:35
had a nose ring too so let's give these kids a little bit of a break but he also was the one that said take the money off
- 20:40
your [ __ ] ear we don't call that money over here that's still saying y'all are acting like [ __ ] idiots but it's saying it in a way that you're not
- 20:46
berating or screaming at somebody so my delivery is leaves much
- 20:53
leaves much to be desired but you're passionate so that's where that comes from but you know what I want to get
- 20:58
into my genius at some point on this podcast and it's I'm not starting it there even though you're correct and I
- 21:04
agree with you I'm starting it at idols and I'm talking about that later but we'll get let's stick to uh homeboy
- 21:12
[ __ ] so what was my so it was a it was a stark reminder right of the hip-hop that I
- 21:22
enjoy M the hip-hop that I love so often as we age you know you said it
- 21:28
earlier as we age in hip-hop you know we've all seen it with our older uncle
- 21:34
or older cousin or older somebody where they come and they complain about the current hip-hop we normally age out of
- 21:42
hip-hop we grow out of hip-hop so to
- 21:48
hear a [ __ ] rap such mature
- 21:56
content immediately brings me to I've said all right he has made his Common
- 22:01
Sense album that he always wanted to make cuz he yeah got to that point where he he can he don't care there's nothing
- 22:08
more to accomplish brings me back to a talk I had with M which will remain between M
- 22:15
and I but it was a loaded question where I said you know I was just thinking as
- 22:20
MC's and rappers we all aspire to reach the top so when you look around at the
- 22:27
top and you see all that that comes
- 22:33
with do you have what it takes do you still want do you still want you still want to be there having it all means
- 22:39
having really look at hov's career and M's career and I use them to because
- 22:45
Puff's career but if we I'm sticking to artist here really really put a
- 22:51
microscope to hov's career and M's career and now ask yourself would you do
- 22:57
it could you do it you know how many times em has almost killed itself
- 23:03
yeah and I did that [ __ ] anger management tour go talk to some people
- 23:10
who were a part of the anger management tour and I mean we've always with ho too
- 23:16
cuz we've know em has always been personal we know how em is feeling typically every album that comes out we know what type of heads space Eminem is
- 23:23
in and what is going on in his life hve on the other hand is always just because he's such a business-minded person has always put himself in a great perception
- 23:30
of what's going on in his life and what he's doing at this when you start your [ __ ] out with kill Jay-Z and run through
- 23:36
all the problems the the top isn't as squeaky clean as it's always looked I
- 23:41
want to get through the sequencing of that album because that's the other
- 23:47
thing that really hit me kill Jay-Z All right so let's let's
- 23:52
do it even though I had another point that I was making when we started talking about what oh okay no so I back
- 23:57
to me understanding why people call me angry and bitter let me tell you something very early in the game I
- 24:03
realized I did not have anything that it takes I wanted no parts of all that it
- 24:12
takes to be at the top and it takes a lot that's why most of these [ __ ] are [ __ ] self-medicating to deal with
- 24:18
it it's not an easy process uh which quick side note the top ain't it by the
- 24:26
way you can be happy and and have a great life and a more comfortable life the top May for the way some people's
- 24:33
personalities are the top or what we deem is the top maybe way worse than a comfortable life of doing what I want to
- 24:39
do and making a good income I I think fans should stop attempting to ridicule
- 24:45
artists success based on what they see yeah that should stop being a thing I
- 24:51
know it ruins a lot of jokes and jokes are funny we got to stop doing that it's too many [ __ ] that are doing great
- 24:56
it's so much money in music what's his name [ __ ] uh Now What's his name let
- 25:02
me not even be stupid but my memory is bad DZ Dillinger uh of dog pound Fame was that
- 25:08
Daz that did that Daz just posted a picture a few weeks ago of his royalty
- 25:16
check it was a lot wait death row got royalty dad has
- 25:23
royalties and I'm pretty sure it was DZ if my memory is not failing me like it normally does but he posted just a piece
- 25:31
of it I think it was from two songs off of the doggy style album and still to
- 25:37
this day he was getting over he was getting six six figures now
- 25:44
today for for added perspective I still get a pretty penny from Pump It
- 25:50
Up just so we know just so you know what publishing does for people we talking
- 25:56
about 15 years later yeah but hip-hop comes from a competitive crabs in the bucket
- 26:02
mentality as everything within that culture is so it's they don't see it that way see if you're not if you're not
- 26:08
number one not just shut up fans you don't know [ __ ] about [ __ ] but anyway so
- 26:14
now kill Jay-Z that stri that struck me immediately because that's therapy talk
- 26:22
MH oh and wait let me before I get into this say that and here's a little mushy
- 26:28
little whack moment I felt like the second that and and Rory has some good
- 26:34
taste in music as many of you that listen to this podcast already know I think when I realized that about Rory
- 26:42
was when we we bonded and Rory says a lot of stupid [ __ ] a lot of he says a lot of
- 26:48
completely wrong [ __ ] young [ __ ] hny pollut a stupid he should be way
- 26:55
more mature than some of the [ __ ] that he says but you know you can just compliment people you know have to like double back and [ __ ] on them to then cuz
- 27:01
it's a fact it's a fact you just say stupid [ __ ] so do you but you say some dumb [ __ ] man I do say
- 27:09
dumb [ __ ] I want to get a good percentile here what's the percentage that I say dumb [ __ ] everybody here tell
- 27:17
me come on dumb that you say dumb dumb [ __ ] you got a good 30% dumb [ __ ] uh no
- 27:23
I was thinking 15 15 20 I you you 30 1520 you on the other hand what's your
- 27:28
percentage of dumb [ __ ] I say Define dumb [ __ ] come on see once you got to do that your percentage is pretty high I to
- 27:34
know once you got to start get a lot of [ __ ] just to say the sport conversation but because you're one of the few people
- 27:40
that I really love to debate with that counts so sometimes I say some [ __ ] to get your M so we can debate if you're
- 27:45
just fishing for debate no yeah I'm not talking about podcast [ __ ] you just say dumb [ __ ] but uh one of the brighter
- 27:51
things you said we had a moment of bonding over the third verse of you must love me right and then I went on to say
- 27:59
on my [ __ ] complex show and we've said here that I think HOV is underrated as a
- 28:05
Lyricist his word play I don't think there very many match it that's confusing for for people that aren't
- 28:12
Savvy I know that how do you how do you how how is Hov underrated in anything but as a Lyricist he is so Rory and I
- 28:20
having a conversation about the third verse that you must love me and just like anybody with common sense who heard
- 28:25
that verse you wanted to hear that hve album you wanted to hear the
- 28:33
album that hve was as introspective as that uh I put mama loves me there as
- 28:41
well uh I put I put lost ones there lost super personal um he's got a
- 28:48
few scattered There song Cry love it but it's still the ego yeah no no no no I'm
- 28:54
still the man I'm not going to cry yes Jay's been the man whole career yeah and
- 29:00
also his whole career he he's always taken whatever [ __ ] thought was cool
- 29:06
and fresh and [ __ ] on it this time he's even [ __ ] on the
- 29:11
things that he himself wants big up yeah this is a different guy so we're
- 29:17
starting at kill Jay-Z that's therapy talk uh destroy and rebuild all that
- 29:23
exists knock it down all that you believe forget about it start from
- 29:28
scratch empty canvas that's very difficult to do in
- 29:33
therapy I know because I've been in a lot of therapy this sounds like HOV has been in
- 29:40
some type of therapy somewhere I don't know think he had a line no he had a line that about his
- 29:46
therapist in uh uh smile was it I could don't he did say therapist somewhere
- 29:51
you're correct he also had a lot of lines that whole uh this spiritual [ __ ] really
- 29:59
works to hum into a lot [ __ ] but hov's always been this is different well I'm
- 30:05
saying he's always dabbled in religion in and out of his music he's always kept it at Bay cuz this he a smart person and
- 30:12
if you go super left with religion you're going to lose a lot of fans he was very revealing on here so kill
- 30:21
Jay-Z that was telling because all right you start you're starting there that's Immaculate let's get into that a little
- 30:27
bit so now there's the report of Kim Kardashian is angry Kanye is angry
- 30:34
Kanye's lawyer has sent paperwork to title to say you have breached our
- 30:41
contract because we did not get paid Blas Blas blah it's a whole bunch of
- 30:46
legal [ __ ] going on it's playing out
- 30:53
ugly I'm I'm actually happy it's happening because I think maybe Ho's the only one that could get through to
- 30:59
Kanye and I think HOV comes from a school where I did all this for you you don't publicly bash me Kanye is an
- 31:05
artist he works on impulse he works on whatever he's feeling at the moment hve obviously is always thought before he
- 31:13
speaks so I I think it was time for him I I can't believe I just did all that for you and now you on stage one talking
- 31:19
I got Killers which is always some weird [ __ ] and then just dissing me on stage not can just let that go now we rewind
- 31:27
back back to all of those incidents where we and we get to speculate a little
- 31:33
bit back then if we find the podcast and once we do hire an intern that is going
- 31:38
to be that person's sole [ __ ] job to go back and find where we [ __ ] predict all of this [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ]
- 31:45
right so when all of that [ __ ] was happening it was very telling
- 31:52
then that Kanye was going on rant saying you can only do m by this on title he
- 31:58
was he was a title spokesperson he was going in the LA Club saying title title title everything was title title title
- 32:06
title and he was finishing shows and then it became then he was
- 32:11
biging up Drake and it was that two week period where they were releasing a joint
- 32:18
project that was weird to me mhm I'm just giving you the timeline
- 32:23
tweeting that I mean of course we know Kanye never keeps his mind the same but tweet I'm only put my [ __ ] on title
- 32:29
that's it forever and then a week later it's on Apple music it's like all right fam you're kind of playing cuz now how
- 32:36
Jay introduced title was it was amongst it was for the artists it was for us we were controlling it and Kanye being a
- 32:41
big staple there and someone who I've put on wouldn't be where he was today
- 32:46
without me not to take away from Kanye's um Talent stop playing with my new
- 32:52
company you making us look nuts publicly we supposed to be like family and you had you're making me look nuts you hipop
- 32:59
you you going from one streaming service to the next uh [ __ ] with people that clearly I don't
- 33:05
like and then you get on stage and say some [ __ ] and this is f and this is coming
- 33:11
off of the the the drama with that Drake record yeah where he put the verse yeah
- 33:20
so I'm just contextualizing how I how I interpret all of this right so then somewhere in
- 33:26
that rant Kan was saying uh there's enough money for everybody apple and
- 33:32
title mhm and that told us a lot see if you're Savvy and you kind of understand and
- 33:38
you're just paying attention the music business will tell you everything that
- 33:43
their smoking Mayers attempting to hide some some [ __ ] they just can't
- 33:49
hold it Kanye can't hold it no but and I think Jay has always known that and he
- 33:55
said that but I think he always thought in the back of his mind he Kanye is not that stupid to try to embarrass
- 34:03
me now wait let's Let me give some more background here for those that don't
- 34:11
know Jay wanted none to do with Kanye way back so I mean let's not forget that
- 34:18
J wasn't signing Kanye he wasn't keeping Kanye he wasn't championing Kanye all right and people always say that [ __ ]
- 34:24
but it's like they weren't friends at the time and is nothing wrong with that nothing wrong and also I want to again
- 34:31
people know I'm a Kanye huge huge Kanye fan I know when he says I played them
- 34:36
Jesus walks and they want to S me go back and listen to the demo of Jesus Walks it wasn't good all right it wasn't
- 34:42
the same song pause for two seconds remember this conversation so I don't forget so we're in a jersey I'm in a
- 34:48
jersey Club in 200 two no I wasn't there I want to say
- 34:56
2001 I'm in the Jersey Club Elia shout out to Elia first lady L she had booked
- 35:02
this event friend of the show I was performing there I was already running
- 35:08
late uh for this performance only focus was out but Focus had me on super fire
- 35:15
in New Jersey M so I get there and they telling me I already only have 10
- 35:21
minutes to perform and that wasn't the type of artist that I was I wasn't rocking with that so I'm rushing to the stage so this packed could [ __ ] see
- 35:28
me and then Elia comes and she says yo uh Kanye is here he said he he's got
- 35:37
some songs and he wants to go on and rock before
- 35:42
you I said Kanye the producer she said
- 35:48
yeah I said no
- 35:55
naturally it was a pack house and they were telling me that I had 10 minutes to
- 36:02
perform and Kanye is there looking like that Kanye with the old polos button to
- 36:08
the top uh Louis Vuitton back was that but what I'm telling you my point in saying this is what eventually broke him
- 36:15
and made him a mega star it wasn't so believable for everybody when he was coming up to you and saying hey I have
- 36:21
songs that I'm rapping on and his approach was always like I
- 36:27
don't know if you the Ross story they was on at some video shoot and Ross wasn't even Ross yet Kanye was just like
- 36:32
let me execute to produce your whole album no I didn't hear this yo yo fam
- 36:39
you know what just go ahead just close the door just close the door man it's fine
- 36:45
Jesus U but he would approach people with these psychotic things and typically people that are that nuts
- 36:51
don't have the talent to back it Kanye eventually had the talent to back it but running into people that are already on
- 36:57
and saying those things is going to rub you the wrong way like get this person away from me so that's why when people
- 37:03
say oh rocking with hoov HOV wasn't even really the one that should have been he was on his own he
- 37:08
was at the top of his career Dame should as he did was in the office and could focus on those things so what people was
- 37:15
like ho played Kanye no I'm not going to say that yeah no no no I think that's not the point of me bringing it up but
- 37:20
what I'm saying is I mean are we seeing the origin of this relation
- 37:28
ship just play out publicly now finally yeah there's been the rumors of uh they
- 37:36
don't [ __ ] with Kardashians I mean depending on how deep we want to delve into this there's a lot
- 37:42
of context and I I can't of course we can't speculate on exactly what their friendship is but if you look at Jay-Z
- 37:47
he's been surrounded by the same people he grew up with sold drugs with he's had that same Tight Crew forever even
- 37:53
through a breakup of his company with Dame he stayed with his very close-knit friends who all from what I know are
- 38:00
very levelheaded people Kanye is an erratic [ __ ] person who didn't grow
- 38:05
up with him so granted they could have spent mad time together there's still something missing there where they're
- 38:10
two totally different people and the older you get you tend to just stay around people that behave and think
- 38:16
similar to you and how Jay-Z and Beyonce protect their brand the complete
- 38:22
opposite still successful but complete opposite is Kanye and Kim Kardashian yes
- 38:27
so yeah there will be some split and then there were the reports I mean I hate to just keep dumping reports on top
- 38:34
of reports here but then there were the rumors of Kanye felt way that HOV did
- 38:40
not attend his wedding oh did he not I I didn't look at the the recap or the TV
- 38:46
show HOV wasn't there really I didn't look at it either but I mean that was the report Oh I thought HOV did oh yeah
- 38:52
that's a little odd a little odd I mean you're making a spectacle and
- 38:58
it's on TV ho is not the one that's run into a reality TV show Fam I'm not going to be mad if one of
- 39:04
you [ __ ] don't come to my wedding I'll be mad if I had to pay for the reception plate and then one of you [ __ ] didn't show up cuz then that's a little
- 39:11
different but if y'all ain't coming then y'all just ain't coming I never been that guy yeah I haven't either right I'm
- 39:17
cool am I not yeah yeah I'm just but we're talking about kane west yeah so I can see it I can see it I can see it I'm
- 39:24
just saying there's a lot in this relationship more will be revealed I guess so then we get into the story of
- 39:31
OJ W that he I'm not done with kill Jay-Z oh let's hear more uh the UN
- 39:38
situation now he spilled it all we all know that that happened uh most of us
- 39:45
know most of us know it was interesting to me because HOV has always held that
- 39:51
in the rapper sense that yeah I'm a rapper but I'll still do the street [ __ ] which the
- 39:57
mentality of rap music in the past however many [ __ ] years mhm I him pulling back and saying your
- 40:04
excuse will see was talking too Reckless let your ego go over your right shoulder HOV was saying that [ __ ] was
- 40:10
corny which was also interesting to see someone who who has been the the guy that says I'm a rapper but I'm a real
- 40:15
Street dude I just happen to rap saying finding that some of his street Behavior
- 40:20
was probably not the best idea and it was just some ego [ __ ] and it wasn't him even being a tough guy well in therapy
- 40:26
they teach you get over yourself get get over you that is the first thing
- 40:31
you have to do so the fact that he made it a point like you said here to point out
- 40:38
how he had to Ego is just everywhere all over his [ __ ] career and all of this
- 40:43
[ __ ] everywhere and now now because of that he's able to see it uh see that
- 40:49
manifest in others as well you know I say all the time uh and I only go back
- 40:56
to me because I've been in therapy my whole [ __ ] like but I say all the time that you know if you attend therapy
- 41:02
enough it's going to really [ __ ] you up cuz you just going to start to assess everything really [ __ ] therapeutic
- 41:09
it's going to it's going to change the way you assess the way you interpret the way you digest [ __ ] so this whole [ __ ]
- 41:16
this whole song Jay is known for amazing intros yeah that and here we are again
- 41:22
the egg salon on known all along you could have just said you was wrong that
- 41:28
was funny to me cuz and you as well we know HOV is a very witty person
- 41:34
so I'm picturing when that argument is happening HOV is doing what you do and what I do a lot in arguments is be
- 41:40
condescending pretend like you don't give a [ __ ] about what they're saying yeah and I think hov's wittiness finally
- 41:47
ran its course and really [ __ ] up what was going on I love
- 41:54
Salange and I just think that's not said enough bange and her [ __ ] Afrocentric ass husband and family and everything oh
- 42:01
I love it I like that they live in New Orleans I like the whole thing yeah if my baby wasn't Spanish I would try to
- 42:07
emulate that I got to do like the Spanish version of powerful black and and El Salvadorian s all types of [ __ ] I
- 42:15
saw you saw the Tweet of the picture of hve and and slan coming out the [ __ ] elevator and it was like three out three
- 42:20
amazing albums came out of one elevator in 100% they bodied the year that one
- 42:26
elevator so I also told my mom all right wait time out from assessing Ho's album
- 42:33
Rory's been trying to be extra mature since the release of the album he came to my house talking about he's mending
- 42:40
things with his family he's [ __ ] doing all types of responsible maturity I'm like who is this guy anyway um what
- 42:47
else happened funny oh I also told my mom that I'm not I'm not ready to be
- 42:55
that generation of person in the family you know like
- 43:00
HOV is facing us with all this lineage yeah generational [ __ ] so you kind of just
- 43:06
got to come to come to reality with all this [ __ ] I don't know if I'm ready for that man where where are you in your
- 43:11
lineage who's the youngest since well under you Jimmy Rose
- 43:16
my little sister cuz pop just can't [ __ ] pop is crazy man but yeah that would be the youngest
- 43:24
she's two and my grandparents are no longer God
- 43:32
bless their souls uh be my mom from my sister to my
- 43:38
you don't need to see say her age obviously yeah I would never my mom I don't even know how old my mom is I mean if you being 100% honest hi Mom she
- 43:45
keeps it a secret from everybody that should know should every i' never understand it
- 43:50
my mom is your parents are just parents man she going to Diva her way well [ __ ] if you got a two-year-old there
- 43:57
you a couple steps up in that lineage you're not really the middle that's what I'm saying I don't know if I'm ready for all of that honestly hov's album is too
- 44:06
much of a reality check for [ __ ] so so he goes from Kill Jay-Z to the story of
- 44:11
OJ which again a lot of layers here so you start this with I'm not
- 44:19
black I'm OJ and of course sin turns around immediately and says did this [ __ ] really say
- 44:25
that I said which [ __ ] she said OJ yeah I said
- 44:30
yeah that was a big thing mhm so so that's how I came in with the song
- 44:36
before the song I had to bring the song back because yeah OJ said that [ __ ] and meant
- 44:43
that [ __ ] so now I bring the song back he continues to tell us how stupid we
- 44:50
all are and how stupid y'all all sound how stupid he has sounded in his career
- 44:56
guess what you still a niggaer you're still a [ __ ] all of you me too he
- 45:02
starts there and he just starts bugging but but
- 45:08
another thing we don't see from hve cuz he's he said these things before about our business not being up toart with his
- 45:15
but he ended it with saying I could have bought a place in dumbo for 2 million now it's 25 million how do I feel Dumbo
- 45:22
so it's a lot of responsibility too of where my probably priorities have been within
- 45:28
business boy did that that hit me because you know I had to console my mom
- 45:33
I had to console my mom and talk her off the ledge a few years ago because you
- 45:39
know in her trying to and us trying to purchase her place you know we've
- 45:44
purchased property but now trying to purchase her place she was beating
- 45:49
herself up over what it cost in 93 94
- 45:55
versus what it cost now I'm sure it's a lot of people in Brooklyn that relate I'm sure it's a lot of people in
- 46:01
Edgewater Jersey City isers is in new Brooklyn there's a few places I'm in Hoboken there's a few places that you
- 46:09
know [ __ ] is waking up and beating themselves the [ __ ] up cuz they didn't buy sooner yeah but it's even back to the OJ
- 46:17
[ __ ] it's the Jews have had that capital for so long they could when they see that they could quickly buy it up in
- 46:23
Jersey City and while some disinf frange just franchise people didn't have they
- 46:29
had to rent I only can come up with 1,200 a month I can't come up with a mortgage well it's all in the planning
- 46:35
and again right before this album came out I don't know how I ended up talk this album smacked me in the face on so
- 46:41
many different levels uh right before this album came out I was talking it was me send and Trey and I was saying forgot
- 46:50
what we was talking about but I was saying it's the planning my son lacks planning and I will not allow it because
- 46:57
in so many black households that's where the uh Koreans
- 47:02
have us beat that's where the whites have us beat very early on the
- 47:07
infrastructure is different so they're teaching you about the importance of
- 47:12
credit they're teaching you about the importance of purchasing they're teaching you you know the priority the
- 47:19
priority list is a bit different it was refreshing to hear this from a from a
- 47:25
rap album yeah especially from someone that's made things so cool for so long
- 47:30
like let's make not taking advances cool hey this is how we can stop being
- 47:39
[ __ ] that was powerful right coming right off of therapy time kill Jay-Z you
- 47:46
smacking me around ho you giving it to me then you get in the smile pause if
- 47:52
applicable for all of this smile is right back to therapy still therapy
- 48:00
teaches you be proud of all that has
- 48:05
occurred there's a reason it occurred it's you're the product of it all embrace it all that you were ashamed of
- 48:14
it cannot be used as a weapon against you your truths if you own it so he starts this smile
- 48:21
[ __ ] with his mother's [ __ ] secrets
- 48:27
what wait wait what are you kidding me here I'm just telling y'all how the
- 48:33
album was hitting me I I don't know how other people was listening to it back to
- 48:39
and we we really only know so much about Gloria Carter he's kind of kept that at Bay as well I mean obviously December
- 48:45
4th we had her voice private forever like to move the first real thing we're
- 48:50
hearing about his mother is this that's what I'm saying so really actually
- 48:57
[ __ ] all of that let's put that to the side for a second cuz that's not the first thing that hit me the first thing that hit me was we go from the story of
- 49:04
OJ and you [ __ ] right no IDE in Jay-Z the first thing I want to hear after that is Stevie
- 49:12
Wonder let's start there let's start there Stevie Wonder come on man no idea
- 49:18
is different dog no idea don't y'all think for one second that the sequencing
- 49:25
and every sound in this [ __ ] was not well thought out and
- 49:30
planned yeah I want to hear stev wonder and I think if for I have to go back of the article if 444 was one of the first
- 49:36
records recorded no ID knowing what H was about to say on this let me just put the easy
- 49:43
samples and the drum kicks that he can talk on let me not overproduce cuz no ID can overproduce and I mean that in a
- 49:50
good way he his from R&B to hip-hop I think him letting this just go back and
- 49:57
have the lower production was better I don't know if he's so much over producers in hip-hop R&B I he a lot and
- 50:04
I don't mean bad over producing when I'm speaking about no ID but like d DOA wasn't overly produced it was actually
- 50:11
just some great drums and a Great Horn so there's an interview rolling around that no ID did if you search for it uh
- 50:17
if you're interested in this type of thing these type of things like I am where he's saying how inspired he was
- 50:23
and he's talking about the colation of this project and he start talking about a Quincy Jones quote that inspired him
- 50:30
uh that he was just uh baffled by and he said they asked Quincy Jones what does
- 50:37
he think about the state of Music young people if you don't know the genius that Quincy Jones is then just pause the
- 50:43
podcast and Google it the greatest producer of all time yeah and so they asked Quincy Jones about what he thinks of the climate of music and his response
- 50:50
was four bar Loops mhm and no ID started saying how that just blew him away so he
- 50:56
wanted to he wanted to be greater and that that was really the the theme
- 51:02
across the whole album was I want to be greater I want to inspire hope to be greater before I read this interview if
- 51:08
you ever met no ID though then it don't take but about five
- 51:14
minutes around no ID to get no ID no ID much like me comes
- 51:20
off quick he comes off very quick very fast he's normally one of the smarter
- 51:28
people in the room if not the smartest very unique very blunt pushes the
- 51:34
[ __ ] envelope he's very left so you know when I tweeted that
- 51:41
before I read any [ __ ] when I tweeted I could just hear just in the content I could imagine the conversations between
- 51:47
no IDE and Jay-Z and Guru and ly whoever the [ __ ] was in the studio I can just imagine it absolutely it sounds like it
- 51:55
it sounds like it to quickly stay on no ID I was happy just cuz I'm a huge no ID fan we know how great no ID is but when
- 52:02
you start bringing up the greatest producer conversations you always getting your Fel your timos your swizzy
- 52:09
Kanye Pete Rock Premiere no IDs usually left off that [ __ ] and I think this was
- 52:15
his project that puts him in that conversation for casual fans again I think this gives his just he could never
- 52:22
do this album ever and he'd still to me be one of the greatest producers but this I think finally that was that one
- 52:27
moment that he got that was like all right I have this for the Casual fan to put me in that
- 52:33
conversation cuz Jay-Z did I mean come on Jay-Z did an album just with one
- 52:39
producer that in itself is weird that's different he's never done that and I get that that's the trend and it's been the
- 52:46
trend uh lately but not when not when you have access to literally every
- 52:52
producer in the world and they're begging to work with you but again again you know sin was asking me to explain
- 53:00
the different you know she was asking me to explain to her what a producer is supposed to do versus what a producer does and she
- 53:09
was saying I was speaking to no ID's genius and she was asking me why more people don't speak his name that way I
- 53:16
said you you can't because you can't buy a no ID beat yeah that's why well he's
- 53:23
an executive producer at the end of the day before he is a producer but he's so immaculate mhm that you cannot go to him
- 53:31
for one beat no you got that's what I'm saying when you go to him it usually is
- 53:36
for bulk he's not even wasting his time with you like that's the type of [ __ ]
- 53:42
he is so but even when he was towards the peak
- 53:48
of his career after the big Kanye Reco sign and them getting back together he
- 53:54
went and did cocaine 80s like he he does [ __ ] he wants to do it's not yeah cocaine 80s I would love to hear more
- 54:00
music from if no ID is listening yeah no ID might be listening that's the type of [ __ ] he is it would be great if he was
- 54:08
um I'd love to hear more from cocaine 80s no ID also uh is the and I don't I
- 54:16
didn't fact check this so I don't know the correct titling but he's the boss at Capital now too yeah the president
- 54:24
president at Capital that made me pretty proud that somebody
- 54:29
at Capitol knows music there's somebody over there he was at Def Jam when he
- 54:36
caught Def Jam at at the wrong time was it was a mess over Death Jam has been a mess for the last however many years so
- 54:42
I don't think he could Rock the way he wanted to rock over there but I still think he did well with good music and and everything around that but yeah I'm
- 54:49
happy he's out of there uh Frank Ocean record my least favorite on here not a skip to me but my
- 54:56
least favorite what do you think of it love it love it again did not love it on first
- 55:03
listen M uh because I had to hear what was happening I had to consume it the
- 55:09
Bop confused me with the content at first yeah that's it just threw me off once I once I knew what was happening I
- 55:17
loved it I love it when it comes on I love the change of pace I'm going to give it I'm going to give it some more but off the first 10 I was like all
- 55:23
right that's the one that I might skip and then we get to the Crux of the album
- 55:30
we get to the meat and the potatoes we get to the title track I
- 55:36
mean [ __ ] do we even have to say anything here honestly
- 55:43
really [ __ ] you and I were having this conversation to intro into this you look
- 55:49
at hve as a peer yes I'm 27 hve to me is Superman like he's not
- 55:57
human to me Kendrick Cole Drake those to me are peers we're around the same age
- 56:03
same Walk of Life MH hve he's he's [ __ ] Superman to me so to see him
- 56:09
become Clark Kent was weird like I know we're talking about
- 56:14
the human [ __ ] but this is beyond his vulnerability to see that's like that's
- 56:20
like watching your dad Cry For the First Time That's How deep I'll take how how
- 56:25
my generation was raised on hve and how we look at him to see him do
- 56:30
this is unreal and I'm happy it happened this late though cuz I don't know how I
- 56:36
would have rocked with it when I was
- 56:41
17 I don't know if your generation was raised off ho I think you might be the exception what do you and not the
- 56:48
rule come on you talk about yeah of course I'm not rolling who else is in your generation lowkey H is low low is
- 56:56
more year age than M don't try to get just attach yourself to the cool generation you might be the wave right
- 57:01
after Hove I but that same era the era that you came in was the era that my generation really started to get into
- 57:09
music everyone blueprint is 01 you still miss some good critical
- 57:14
Hove I mean Black album was probably the peak of when my generation was like I
- 57:21
live and die with I think I think the PE there are few in your generation that are like you that really just get it
- 57:28
like there's a few [ __ ] that understand Mike and his greatness a lot of these [ __ ] missed it but still same
- 57:33
[ __ ] it's nothing the [ __ ] I agree but your point but not yet just to that to see someone that you literally look
- 57:40
at as a superhero was really [ __ ] I've never seen my dad cry that that was the point that I was trying to make I
- 57:47
just forgot it yeah I've never seen my dad cry I've never thought about that but my dad's never hit me either oh well
- 57:53
you [ __ ] so yeah that yeah yeah yeah yeah
- 57:58
whatever you probably would have called the cops uh that's kind of dope uh my
- 58:04
dad's never hit me I don't know if I could hit my my kid either that would hurt I get it I get
- 58:09
dads that don't hit their sons but hit their daughters no well your daughter your
- 58:17
daughter and this is what I hear I don't know cuz I don't have a daughter but your daughter should should uh Revere you a
- 58:25
bit more than your son your son at some point is going to want to fight you and think he could take you your daughter is
- 58:32
going to be the one to take care of you while you are on your way out of here your son is going to be in the
- 58:39
park your son is going to be doing whatever he's doing that's where the term daddy's little girl comes from so
- 58:45
yeah I want to get taken care of on my way out I don't want some little [ __ ] no it's funny well right back shouldn't
- 58:52
we be thinking about this stuff with H's album dropping yeah he said in the godam it the first bar took for my child uh
- 58:58
being born to see through a woman's eyes so right back full circle so he comes on with how much of a womanizer he's been M
- 59:07
how he needed a daughter born how wow what if your daughter
- 59:13
doesn't look at you like Superman anymore and she finds out that Santa Claus is fake and you read online
- 59:20
because the reality is that kids can read online now yeah you know my kid was
- 59:26
reading online when Saigon was calling them all types of [ __ ] like kids can read yeah they can see these things and
- 59:33
if they're not their friends are definitely coming to them with yeah 100% I had to step to my every time I do some
- 59:38
[ __ ] wild [ __ ] and it blows up online I got to call my kid and say all right what's the what's the temperature you good over there they they not giving you
- 59:45
no Migos pressure over there at school kids our kids are affected we at
- 59:51
that age well damn poor Trey Drake Migos
- 59:56
man y like all the people I imagine all his friends love Yeah but my kid is like me so he hates everybody and he don't
- 1:00:02
want I I've listened to music with try I know the type music he listens to and it's not that but don't care what you [ __ ] is talking about he's great
- 1:00:10
um yeah it's nothing really to say about 444 for you know for him to tie it
- 1:00:15
together again what we kind of were speculating at with the elevator incident with lemonade like they bodied
- 1:00:22
the Carters bodied the infidelity game I
- 1:00:28
mean I hate to say it that way but the Carters are like our [ __ ] kennedies
- 1:00:34
yeah and the
- 1:00:40
Carters I mean Beyonce came out and gave you all of the women [ __ ] all of the
- 1:00:45
women struggle and but also went the the other way the forgiving route cuz lemonade in
- 1:00:52
itself wasn't to I mean there's been albums where women forgive their men but not in the sense in the story that it
- 1:00:58
was told and being Beyonce and the person she's referring to is JayZ I am finished with women crying about
- 1:01:04
cheating men it's over ladies all of the women that stay and stick around win
- 1:01:10
they win Beyonce stayed she stayed through it she won Kobe's wife cried for
- 1:01:17
a few months that big ass ring helped I'm sorry Sam what do you want me to do sheay Gabby oh my God Gabby and DNE way
- 1:01:26
our goals laa is holding out to make it look a little bit better but laa is
- 1:01:31
doing reports on Bravo updating us about her husband's trade status she's saying
- 1:01:37
oh he might leave it's real y'all he might go to Houston like ladies all that
- 1:01:43
whole cry but wait so now this if we want to really tackle a much bigger a
- 1:01:48
much bigger topic here whatever Sam I don't care honestly let's tackle the
- 1:01:54
bigger issue here the bigger issue here and and and I say this all the time is
- 1:02:02
what are you willing to tolerate in your relationship like if you run at the
- 1:02:07
first [ __ ] sign of trouble then I mean what the [ __ ] is it
- 1:02:13
worth now I'm not saying to have a baby on the side like dwade did and dwade is
- 1:02:19
really a great individual but [ __ ] I was talking to my girl about that too let's pretend a [ __ ] goes and he has a baby
- 1:02:26
on the side but he checks off every other [ __ ] check all your checkpoints
- 1:02:31
he checks them all off now you got to think about going out in the field M man
- 1:02:37
starting from scratchy yeah hey this is real [ __ ]
- 1:02:42
women stay out of convenience sometimes let's talk about it hov's album is making me want to be
- 1:02:47
therapeutic and on top of that women have a type and the type of men that they like they're going to move on as
- 1:02:53
someone that probably has similar qualities to that hey if you don't stay with your man and just hope that he he
- 1:02:58
ain't really GNA be so active in the kids's [Music]
- 1:03:04
life I tell you something hey that [ __ ] hey that that girl dwade had that baby
- 1:03:10
with she was shining for all of two days before they [ __ ] relationship go
- 1:03:15
pictured us out of they got rid that the slaycation came yeah they was Bing that
- 1:03:21
[ __ ] ladies I don't want to hear about that cheating [ __ ] no more honestly oh man for real I don't
- 1:03:26
on the side is bad but even in the song when he says uh I never wanted another woman to know something about you that
- 1:03:33
you didn't know sting that's yep sting I'm I'm at that point of
- 1:03:38
maturity that's when you confine emotionally within somebody now you've cheated you you've really cheated oh man
- 1:03:45
hve you first hve hve first of all what you got to [ __ ] go pillow talk with
- 1:03:51
the side chick about what what's going on with Beyonce that's that's where you got step
- 1:03:56
back and say I'm I'm cheating I'm at that point because men can be men and move the [ __ ] on and run through I'm not
- 1:04:01
saying it's right or wrong I'm just saying what it is a man can do that but the moment you
- 1:04:07
start treating her a certain way confiding to her that is what scares me
- 1:04:13
you're now over that line that's what scares me about cheating at some point in your 30s you managed to have a heart
- 1:04:18
and conscience and you're like listen man chicks can't know nothing that my
- 1:04:24
girl don't know you know what there reminding me of which I hope sees a light of day that Royce verse from the
- 1:04:30
sold house oh what a verse one of the better I'm actually kind of mad I hope people if it does come out don't think
- 1:04:36
Roy biting off Hoy did that [ __ ] mad long ago Royce is out here kicking ass stop playing footsies with me under the
- 1:04:43
table [ __ ] uh Rey is out here kicking ass with bar exam for and yes that verse is amazing one of the more amazing Royce
- 1:04:50
versus if that's even like a real statement yeah uh and I'd love to hear it as well but all right let me finished
- 1:04:55
running through oh my God all right Family Feud I think my favorite on the
- 1:05:03
album right now it's between Family Feud or Marcy me because I don't even count
- 1:05:08
the the title track and kill Jay-Z those are in their own category Family Feud is different the
- 1:05:15
beat is different the content is different I wanted to ask the guest that we could
- 1:05:20
have had so I'll just ask you is that a sample when HOV is rapping is that a
- 1:05:27
sample and then Beyonce made her pitch similar to the sample for the hook or
- 1:05:33
did they sample Beyonce I I think they sample Beyonce
- 1:05:38
but when he's wrapping it sounds too crisp it sounds like a sample cut it doesn't sound like the warm feeling it is on the hook I think Beyonce may have
- 1:05:45
matched her pitch to that sample yeah but when they dro the beat out and they kind of play with her her
- 1:05:53
uh background vocals M and then the sample or what we think is the sample
- 1:05:59
comes back in it's exactly the same that's why I say that I mean and I don't
- 1:06:05
I don't I don't know so when we have our guest when we have our guest we could ask uh but I'd like to know that Beyonce
- 1:06:13
bodied the [ __ ] out of this she sounds [ __ ] Angelic on that [ __ ] no ID bodied the [ __ ] out of this ho killed
- 1:06:23
this addressed it again he addressed everything he said on
- 1:06:29
444 on to family Fe the next one yeah well I mean that's kind of like
- 1:06:36
a reoccurring theme here and there throughout this album but wait let's go back to the story OJ really quickly do
- 1:06:42
we care about future putting the picture to his ear uh the the money to his ear on Snapchat no but I think I think it's
- 1:06:51
sad because there's a disconnect we don't call that money over here that's the story I'm saying I think he did that
- 1:06:56
because of the not the future shot it was just the word play and the future other [ __ ] uh playing football with
- 1:07:03
your son it was to it was for HOV saying I don't want the future of my mistakes with my wife yeah I don't think that was
- 1:07:08
a disc it was just good word play yeah future got to chill so but with that I
- 1:07:14
think it just made future look stupid because you kind of missed the entire point of what HOV was saying and
- 1:07:20
somebody who we've all just seen what he's going through with his contract and the money he owes back and he's rushing
- 1:07:26
these things so he can pay off other people and HOV is saying hey let's stop taking advances and stop letting labes
- 1:07:33
take advantage of us oh man and then future knowing all that and all the great things that HOV is trying to teach
- 1:07:40
then goes you ain't got the juice and puts money up to his ear [ __ ] and it was like I don't know if I'm like diving
- 1:07:46
too deep into it but I just thought like all right future you missed the entire point of what the [ __ ] he was trying to teach y'all y'all [ __ ] still taking
- 1:07:53
advances huh and my [ __ ] taking real chances huh he killed you [ __ ] on
- 1:08:02
there he really killed you [ __ ] hey and if we're going back real quick to get back to kill Jay-Z that whole stanza
- 1:08:09
that four bar stanza where he ended with uh 13 bottles of ace of SP he did the
- 1:08:15
Boston I forgot what he said right before he was killing that
- 1:08:20
[ __ ] never go Eric Benet the Eric Benet part was so dope let me tell you why
- 1:08:25
that was dope because and this is again just why HOV is better than than
- 1:08:33
everybody when you're when in rap it's about when you're MC it's about how you
- 1:08:39
can get your point off what are you saying how are you saying it right so
- 1:08:44
when he says uh uh almost went let the bad girl
- 1:08:50
in the world get away so when he says [ __ ] I don't even know what else to say the fact that the next bar literally
- 1:08:56
sounds like even if you try to rap along you'll miss it if you don't do that exact Cadence like he sounds like he
- 1:09:03
don't know what else to say yeah I would like to know how many takes it took to get that bar to sound like
- 1:09:10
that [ __ ] I don't even know what else to say [ __ ] never go Eric B yeah that's
- 1:09:17
not a natural no it's not natural that's why I was saying that the syllable use on this album is is different it's
- 1:09:23
different yeah that's why I'm like he k on this album is why he is greater than
- 1:09:29
uh the rest of us on this album the way that he rhymed words that didn't rhyme
- 1:09:36
that's another reason that m is better than everybody too they rhyme words that don't really rhyme perfectly fine or
- 1:09:42
they'll rhyme like second syllable on each bar like [ __ ] that shouldn't even
- 1:09:48
grammatically make sense listen when you listen to HOV and M listen to where breathing at it's
- 1:09:57
different it's all different everything about how they do it is [ __ ]
- 1:10:04
different from the smallest things to the [ __ ] biggest things all right so anyway back to Family Feud Family Feud
- 1:10:09
is arguably my favorite track on this album as well bam I get it that that Sak
- 1:10:16
line too which I I encourage i' be damn if I drink some Bader while poest a rock
- 1:10:22
yeah appla where's my Applause button yeah Round of Applause that was great
- 1:10:27
and you know why also back to mature Jay-Z we've watched hve and puff not
- 1:10:32
diss each other but we've watched them fight for that number one forb spot every single year it just goes back and
- 1:10:38
forth to them to then to then say in that competition I'm supporting his business and putting money in his pocket
- 1:10:45
that's our mentality it shouldn't be who's fighting for who number no more Bel ear that you guys have heard me
- 1:10:51
support for so many years on every song is a Bel there they were present so
- 1:10:58
again to hear this you know this is maturity all over this [ __ ] it's so much
- 1:11:03
perspective on this album and I guess that's why it hit me so hard because when was the last time we heard a a rap
- 1:11:09
album with so much perspective I have to respect it when a artist Like Jay-Z
- 1:11:15
comes out because Jay-Z is a much more traveled than us yes he's spoken to way
- 1:11:23
many more people he's been around people way smarter so I don't take it for
- 1:11:30
granted when when those eyes start to reveal what they have learned from
- 1:11:36
behind those doors that we're not privy to mhm no I agree uh you saying bam the
- 1:11:43
Damien Marley joint love it yeah HOV HOV needed one through all this he still needed one of those let me rock out even
- 1:11:50
though he's still talking on it but I 100% think HOV heard my [ __ ] uh finger finger Wave Bar at some point and
- 1:11:59
then just bodied an entire verse on different hairstyles uh which was pretty hard how
- 1:12:07
he did it considering a lot of MC's have probably had that idea and just didn't do it that great yeah he B back I saw a
- 1:12:14
very funny tweet because it wouldn't be this podcast if we didn't talk about Drake uh someone said Jay-Z put a real
- 1:12:19
Jamaican on a track instead of pretending to be one yeah I saw that little tweet going around I left you
- 1:12:25
guys got a good kick out of that huh uh I listen I don't want to break down you
- 1:12:30
know well [ __ ] ain't but so many songs left Moonlight back to similar content
- 1:12:36
on uh story of OJ yeah I mean just the hook I love the Laur Hill sample but just the chorus in
- 1:12:43
itself we stuck in la la land even when we win we GNA lose it's yeah Marcy me I
- 1:12:49
think will go down as one of the more important records of his career you said Marcy me or moonlight uh Marcy me Marcy
- 1:12:56
me I this [ __ ] has been on repeat it's hip-hop it's literally if
- 1:13:03
yeah if I were try to explain hip-hop to somebody I might play them that record I'm still going juicy of course
- 1:13:09
but I'm still going juicy if I have to explain hip-hop to somebody I'm going juicy still this just the the beat the
- 1:13:17
Cadence I yeah again I'm repeating myself I there's no way he didn't not write this [ __ ]
- 1:13:22
down i' I don't think I've heard him do you syllable use to way he has on this [ __ ] too I I felt like every word rhymed
- 1:13:30
who's ready for a hot take who wants a hotti who's ready for a hot TI here hey
- 1:13:37
you know what let me tell you how phony I am too I am so phony because yeah some
- 1:13:42
of us didn't know that I'm so phony a few years ago I was killing [ __ ] for having this type of hot tick and they
- 1:13:49
ended up being correct but was that 2012 or 13 one of
- 1:13:54
them years we're halfway through the year I think it was lowkey or somebody saying that this was one of the better
- 1:14:00
years for hip-hop and I [ __ ] killed them on this podcast for saying such a Blasphemous statement turns out they
- 1:14:06
were correct when you look back uh retroactively now phony man here I
- 1:14:13
am January February March April May June July we are just hit just hit seven
- 1:14:20
months past the year and I'm going go out there and say it this year is Bolding Bolding pretty
- 1:14:26
well it's kind of crazy think of all the albums that have been released let's do it Rick Ross
- 1:14:33
Kendrick uh H uh Drake Drake uh I've got Roy I've got uh uh big
- 1:14:42
boy I've got which I still need to list I I there's a lot that's going on big sea uh Joey Badass had a great album yes
- 1:14:51
Big Sean Joey B Ked say what you will about it no that's included uh Migos culture was a great album that's
- 1:14:58
included uh [ __ ] gold Link's album I like I don't know if anyone else that's not in the top tier as far as notoriety
- 1:15:05
but it was one of the better albums this year outside of J Cole oh uh W shine
- 1:15:11
phenomenal album that counts that was a hard album uh I wasn't J.Cole last year
- 1:15:17
yeah it was last year yeah it was but what I'm saying outside of jcole future put out two uh albums I liked yep it's
- 1:15:23
been a [ __ ] your friend logic I'm not counting
- 1:15:29
logic in my phenomenal year no it it has been good so far who
- 1:15:34
is left to drop it was an eventful first year as far as our French is going to drop off
- 1:15:41
ACH albums so that I can imagine with the Ste of the single is going to do
- 1:15:48
well the weekend dropped I count him hip hop weekend was this year that was this
- 1:15:54
year that start boy [ __ ] no yep yes it was star boys I like that album so um a
- 1:15:59
lot has dropped though and a lot more is dropping I'm just trying to think it's
- 1:16:04
been an eventful year in hipop who who's left I Kanye I feel like we'd know
- 1:16:10
already if he was Kanye is definitely dropping this year you think because of
- 1:16:15
this no I think he he was already working they said he was in a mountain in uh Iowa somewhere Two Chains dropped
- 1:16:23
that's big that's important yeah we'll see here T Grizzly I actually
- 1:16:29
liked his album T Grizzly album came out M it was good too uh little yachty I I
- 1:16:35
didn't listen but people seem to like it I don't know I don't know
- 1:16:42
bro uh yeah that's all I got here I'm just saying so far so far a pretty good
- 1:16:47
[ __ ] year and uh hip-hop I mean this whole album I
- 1:16:53
needed you know I'll I'll end my analysis with I needed it me where where
- 1:17:01
I am I needed this from a hip-hop album I needed to hear a MC in this
- 1:17:07
space I needed this sound do we think with all the great things that were said
- 1:17:12
as far as Financial ownership do you think there'll be a shift in anything with the younger rappers yes will they
- 1:17:20
take heed to this uh I don't really care so much about the younger rappers I'm not boxing message in that way he was
- 1:17:26
talking to everybody well it's more important if we're going to start The Narrative of that to shift everything
- 1:17:32
it's going to start with the all these rappers are idiots I don't care about what these rappers do and that's why I commend chance so much cuz he's living
- 1:17:39
what H was just talking about yeah chances you know listen Pac said he ain't got to change the world all he got
- 1:17:44
to do is inspired to mind that does I 100% think this album will inspire
- 1:17:49
somebody out there uh to just think differently live differently H has been impactful full throughout his entire
- 1:17:55
career everything he said he's been a Trends Setter in his career everything he said [ __ ] have either rocked with
- 1:18:02
it damn near killed autotune man almost he tried he tried these young [ __ ]
- 1:18:08
they love autotune too much yeah it might have been the only thing he didn't kill do we want to hear another whole
- 1:18:13
album after this that was gon to be my next Point uh it was so good I I'm comfortable this
- 1:18:20
ending this is a good end to the story Magna Cara wasn't to me
- 1:18:25
Kingdom Come wasn't to me oh my God yikes yeah no and I would have said The
- 1:18:30
Black Album would have been perfect but Jay-Z's entirely too good to end his career then M I would I would like him to make
- 1:18:38
an album when he has more to say I me of course I don't think there's anything
- 1:18:43
more to say now not after this album this was it I don't think he'll stop I
- 1:18:50
think we'll get a few Jay-Z versus maybe one a year yeah I I want my verse
- 1:18:57
still oh all right let's get back to me for a second now I'm retired and I'm having a blast in retirement
- 1:19:04
but uh what I find here is which is funny because everybody's calling me
- 1:19:10
[ __ ] uh a loser still well you are yeah that hasn't changed but what I find is a lot of people hitting me talking
- 1:19:17
about I should be dropping an album now that hov's album came out for some reason hov's album came out with similar
- 1:19:24
content as I have been preaching and speaking on this podcast and all my different platforms and now people want
- 1:19:29
to hear Joe but now if y' don't suck my [ __ ] dick [ __ ] all you [ __ ] you [ __ ] got some [ __ ] nerve
- 1:19:37
y'all want to wait till I retire for me to have my most anticipated album that I
- 1:19:42
am not working on [ __ ] y'all no nope
- 1:19:48
sorry listen man with all the attention that you're getting I don't give a [ __ ]
- 1:19:54
you keep saying that but I know you and I know your Artistry and I know you're going to get the itch pause one day soon
- 1:20:00
I don't think it'll be this year I think you'll get interest you've been rapping for God knows how many years it's still
- 1:20:05
part of your [ __ ] I didn't know I could make I didn't know I could make more money just talking about the
- 1:20:11
rappers somebody should have told me that ages ago I'd have been stopped rapping but what I will say is uh I
- 1:20:19
definitely think her ho well I don't think I know this well we know this but
- 1:20:24
hopefully lik Idols man yeah wait did we say on the podcast about the whole thing
- 1:20:30
no well I'll leave that to you I think we did that's that's your business to tell not mine well whole heard
- 1:20:39
Idols but man is it not spooky to listen to idols and then hear the whole album h
- 1:20:45
mean is it just me I can't be just me cuz I got a whole lot of text saying fam yo I don't know all of these years
- 1:20:53
when I be saying
- 1:21:32
[Music]
- 1:21:48
[Music]
- 1:21:54
this is [ __ ] horrible um all right so hov's album
- 1:22:00
dropped we got it we've dissected it we love it uh do I think it probably will go
- 1:22:07
down as a classic I don't [ __ ] know but do I think it'll go down as I think
- 1:22:12
it will the most important project of his
- 1:22:17
career yeah most important yep well I mean you could just kill that whole
- 1:22:23
point and say Reasonable Doubt was because there would be no 444 without Reasonable Doubt but uh no Reasonable
- 1:22:30
Doubt is and this is a and we should have this debate when Maul gets here I don't think Reasonable Doubt is first
- 1:22:36
second or third in the most important ho album well I'm just saying was the start um H I
- 1:22:44
think blueprint blueprint or Black Album cuz around that time was when we went
- 1:22:49
from Jay-Z as a great rapper one of the best in New York to God MC J hope like we just he got looked
- 1:22:56
at differently he got to the status between blueprint and Black Album I'm going with whatever volume
- 1:23:04
that was was it one or two the one that sold all the records that probably was
- 1:23:09
the most important album of hov's career volume one kind of sold two was the one that I'm talking about the one yeah so
- 1:23:16
that was two the one where because you know Reasonable Doubt came out it didn't do well when it first first came out um
- 1:23:24
and then volume 1 really didn't do well when it first came out cuz I mean everyone was like it's a bunch of
- 1:23:29
leftover biggy beats yeah but no the DMX is around at that time and the Rumblings around at the time was all right is is
- 1:23:37
this [ __ ] going to deliver one that's what this is the [ __ ] y'all think is is
- 1:23:42
the next in line so where where is it at cuz we two albums in and I don't see it
- 1:23:48
and boy do do I'm hey take the
- 1:23:53
Baseline uhhuh yeah that changed that that
- 1:23:58
changed that one that was on one though was it yeah well then that's the one I'm
- 1:24:04
talking about that one then no why am I bugging I don't know all right now I listen to uh to Rory let me go volume
- 1:24:11
two was hard knock life so hard knock life I would imagine would have been on hard knock life thank you Rory so it's
- 1:24:17
volume two like we originally said good you're confusing me with your [ __ ] Shenanigans but yeah as soon as we heard
- 1:24:23
that put him in line the blueprint and Black Album put him it separated him from everyone everyone that we used to
- 1:24:30
say DMX Nas etc etc he just kept we're just having our argument on what are the
- 1:24:36
most important so you start at Reasonable Doubt I start at volume
- 1:24:42
two right then I go
- 1:24:47
blueprint before Reasonable Doubt do I need to explain that one too I'm just
- 1:24:53
saying Reasonable Doubt because there would be be no Jay-Z with there's no right or wrong answer to this [ __ ] I
- 1:24:58
mean I would like to hear from what what the listeners think as well Jay has so many phenomenal moments throughout his
- 1:25:05
career and and so many great albums that this is a good question period now I'm
- 1:25:12
not asking best album nor am I asking I'm asking his the importance I'm I
- 1:25:18
think I go volume two blueprint
- 1:25:25
blueprint Black Album Reasonable Doubt
- 1:25:30
444 yeah I'm not ordering ordering these but yeah not just again I I get what
- 1:25:35
you're saying with volume two cuz it put him there but I'm saying for what separated JayZ might have got dropped
- 1:25:41
without volume two oh I completely agree uh but I just don't think I think that put him as a phenomenal rapper he he
- 1:25:48
became a different entity entering into the 2000s because of the blueprint in The Black Album see he separates himself
- 1:25:55
from everyone he was just a great rapper at that point see he did that for for me on Reasonable Doubt and that's why the
- 1:26:02
music business is funny I was I was six when reasonal came out but from what I've had a million debates with people
- 1:26:10
of age he was just a cool cool rapper from New York no no no no I don't know
- 1:26:16
who said that I would like to talk to them no when Reasonable Doubt came out everybody knew and the Word was was was
- 1:26:25
here's this Superior MC from Brooklyn he had that type of clout when reasonable came out and when Reasonable Doubt came
- 1:26:31
out sound people that really know hip-hop because it didn't sell like that I'm not talking about that I'm only
- 1:26:37
talking about his performance well of of course in retrospect now it's greatest
- 1:26:43
I'm talking about back then I'm talking about back then his performance on like really look at the songs that came out
- 1:26:48
from that album Ain't No [ __ ] Brooklyn's Finest can't knock the hustle
- 1:26:55
Brooklyn's Finest big as the best rapper in the world at that point and Brooklyn's Finest came out we knew how
- 1:27:02
Jay was being positioned as an MC he was better than [ __ ] then so no he wasn't
- 1:27:09
it wasn't like that but you get to that crossroads for every [ __ ] that's great like that big as well we I heard puff
- 1:27:15
talk about it and the can't stop won't stop doc where your skill needs to match this your success now your skill has to
- 1:27:22
turn into some [ __ ] so while he was skilled that way so
- 1:27:28
Reasonable Doubt great didn't sell all right now what volume one oh that's what you got what was on volume one sunshine
- 1:27:34
sunshine was on there he was in a shiny suit he was trying it he was trying it he was trying it hey and some of my
- 1:27:40
favorite ho records ever is on that album that people where I'm from might be my top two let me be clear that was
- 1:27:47
the album in H's dis in her H's discography that people slammed yeah V
- 1:27:54
volum one if you listen to some whole interviews where he's talking about sunshine that he hates or hated the city
- 1:28:01
is mine he wasn't so big on one of my favorite old records ever I know what the girls like he got killed yeah he got killed for that but you still have the
- 1:28:08
intro which is one of his best intros ever on volume one uh you have where I'm from from is on that you can make a case
- 1:28:16
of one of the best Jay-Z beats that he's ever wrapped over that's a top 10 Jay-Z
- 1:28:21
song uh you have you must love me I liked who you wit but I know that not a
- 1:28:26
lot of people did who you wit was released on a soundtrack prior to it being on the album uh fero 98 was a cool
- 1:28:34
followup Streets is Watching is one of my favorite Streets is Watching was a classic but I think it was a classic
- 1:28:40
because of the classic it became not when it was released so I'm just saying I can
- 1:28:46
understand how [ __ ] at Death Jam was looking like all right dogs and then when the DVD came out how shortly after
- 1:28:54
I don't remember my memory is not that good that was great too though that was great yeah people don't talk about that
- 1:29:00
that much they kind of leave that out of hes resume of how great that DVD was
- 1:29:06
that they did on their own that was a great DVD the [ __ ] the the
- 1:29:11
tours um H gets credit for me for signing clue to a
- 1:29:17
deal like that was big clue and all that he was to take to take the risk of
- 1:29:22
signing this big Street DJ and saying produce some music now put out an album
- 1:29:27
from it that was Trend setting before it was a CID Flex was putting out album so I mean yeah we should really it's
- 1:29:37
speaking of DJ Clue I just thought of The Breakfast Club uh and Dame's interview that he got killed for and all
- 1:29:45
agreed with everything and all the people that are praising ho for that exact same narrative I mean we we have
- 1:29:50
to know that Dame and Jay think alike cuz they did it independently together for so long but mhm back to the delivery
- 1:29:57
everything you're saying on everyday struggle yelling at rappers about owning their own [ __ ] and KN what deal they're in is there another Red Bull in there
- 1:30:03
somewhere probably not damn it um but yeah just just the messenger and how
- 1:30:09
things come across M yeah I'm taking credit for my [ __ ] Idols uh ain't got the reach to do it so
- 1:30:15
let me reach who could do it line and then Jay [ __ ] saying everything that I don't know how to say
- 1:30:20
[Music] yep I don't care man taking my credit you got to take your [ __ ] I don't I
- 1:30:26
don't think H was like all right well let me start the album now that Joe has put out Idols no of course not I'm being
- 1:30:32
silly no but I think uh well yeah I mean he's he said which will say off air more but yes he listened to idols and enjoyed
- 1:30:39
it I would like to hear more more of this content from I don't I can't even
- 1:30:45
say that outside of Kendrick who's really given mature content in hip-hop Jay
- 1:30:50
Cole Jay Cole certainly is okay um um mature that's one of those loaded
- 1:30:58
questions we have to think we have to think cuz if we don't say a name they're going to think we're trying to be funny this [ __ ] so I'm I'm not trying to get
- 1:31:04
get [ __ ] trapped on the fourth of July um so yeah that that that's what I got for this whole Alum man I I thoroughly
- 1:31:10
enjoyed it uh I can't wait till Maul gets back so I could hear about the create creation of some of these songs
- 1:31:18
cuz I know his bum ass was there probably uh what else do I need to talk
- 1:31:23
about I feel like the whole album and power has consumed all of my thoughts so
- 1:31:29
let me just talk to 50 real quick he 50 y'all might as well just start leaking the whole [ __ ] season we're way ahead
- 1:31:35
of whatever y'all think is building suspense we know there's a camera in the off oh spoiler alert spoiler alert
- 1:31:41
spoiler alert for you people that are not watching Power and have not seen it yet this is the part where you should
- 1:31:48
fast forward or do something different besides listening to me and Rory all right you've walked away from
- 1:31:55
your computer and headphones uh I thought that enough time it was uh Power
- 1:32:00
which I give a lot of credit for writing it's a well-written show I didn't him putting the pistol in the desk I'm like
- 1:32:06
you guys are are come on a club office doesn't have cameras they rushed through some of this they rushed through they
- 1:32:13
rushed through that let me I laughed for a long time at
- 1:32:19
the idea of you fixing you come you re you're revisiting the Cliffhanger of
- 1:32:27
ghost son being with 50 kidnapped from last season and you're telling me that we're just going to fix that by saying
- 1:32:34
oh tell them that you asleep and somebody played a joke and now you're back in with your family healthy and
- 1:32:41
fine word that's how you got even though 50 is getting that little kid hooked on lean which is going to end terribly this
- 1:32:47
is lazy writing over there but that's fine uh homeboy uh that's in prison old
- 1:32:53
white dude Tommy's dad Absol that's when he said where were they where were they raised at and he started having that
- 1:32:58
Revelation oh it's Tommy's pops yeah that's Tommy's dad or if you've ever met Rory Rory's Dad yeah for real depending
- 1:33:05
on who you think it is but yeah that's so that's Tommy's dad I like him a lot
- 1:33:10
what do we think is going to happen somehow ghost ghost they're GNA fix Tommy's dad's wife's cancer yeah or
- 1:33:19
something's going to happen we're going to find out homeboy [ __ ] killed Greg he's probably going to die or his wife
- 1:33:25
will die and he'll realize he doesn't need to live and do some Immaculate thing to save Tommy and ghost and he'll
- 1:33:30
die but it won't matter CU his wife is dead and something like that that's where that's where I'm at I think it's
- 1:33:36
going to end I wish they would just fast forward to like episode seven by now at this point we we figured out one through
- 1:33:42
five 50 and Courtney also I felt like with ghost
- 1:33:49
being in jail and this this was a passing thought don't I'm not ready to marry this one with ghost being in jail
- 1:33:56
I felt his acting is is very it's it's necessary sometimes
- 1:34:02
to to see without his presence I felt like a couple of the scenes were rushed
- 1:34:08
through I felt Tasha and Tommy I don't know if I wanted to see both of them on the screen for a long time without ghost
- 1:34:15
but that passed CU they eventually started showing ghost a lot in jail yeah and that was Turtle got to get his [ __ ]
- 1:34:22
together man he's losing I like Proctor Proctor will get it together man power's going to be
- 1:34:29
fine I feel like we're going to be watching the season finale of power in another month and we're all going to be
- 1:34:35
sad again until next July for real for real that's [ __ ] up it's really nothing to look forward to anymore I do
- 1:34:41
want to note for all those people that used to debate me what's better power Empire that's all I'm going to say wait
- 1:34:49
wait wait wait that was a debate at one point everybody relax that was a debate what was a better show and I used to
- 1:34:54
laugh at people when they say that are you kidding me a lot of people that was a big Twitter thing too at the height of
- 1:35:00
Empire Twitter makes everything a thing for like a week at least yeah Empire
- 1:35:06
Empire's first week I remember that's when I was saying oh these shows aren't similar why do why do people keep
- 1:35:12
comparing the two one is a soap opera and one is a real TV show I think that came from when Empire was having all
- 1:35:18
that success uh and 50 [ __ ] was bubbling still kind of underground they had to attack the similar way that uh Empire
- 1:35:25
was being promoted to look like power a little bit I get that uh but whatever a
- 1:35:32
new Empire wouldn't last it's another show Scandal all them [ __ ] shows just came and went yeah well Scandal had a
- 1:35:38
good run I think they did have a good run but I mean oh well all right so uh Loren Tate Loren Tate is coming up he's
- 1:35:47
going to be instrumental in getting ghosts out of prison probably he's the mayor I think mul said and I think mul
- 1:35:55
said he was the lawyer at one point this was when we knew nothing cuz we were saying that he was going to he was going to be the new ghost and then someone was
- 1:36:01
like no I think he's the lawyer mul be wrong a lot but he's wrong from a right
- 1:36:08
idea I guess that makes sense he'd be in the right ballpark of things like he's
- 1:36:13
in the right ballpark Paul George probably does want to be a Laker but no more Paul George and Melo and Chris Paul
- 1:36:21
are not going to be Lakers next year like you heard in the locker room at a Wizards game M be taking the most raw
- 1:36:28
locker room thoughts and just trying to will them to fruition and sorry mul another year of trash Laker [ __ ] I can't
- 1:36:35
even say that anymore my Nicks are trash um that's all I got power in in Ho's
- 1:36:41
album did anything else happen important I four Fourth of July weekend
- 1:36:47
came and went I put burgers in the grill I mean nothing New York is trash so ain't nothing
- 1:36:52
popping go to 4040 Club you've been out and
- 1:36:57

- 1:37:04

- 1:37:10

- 1:37:16
being there I wouldn't enjoy the [ __ ] he was I wasn't enjoying myself you was you and Michael Paul were standing on tables
- 1:37:21
not even couches please never at Larina will I stand on the table [ __ ] that uh I
- 1:37:27
don't think there's anything else fun uh I'm just waiting to see where Carmelo Anthony lands I hope it's not for Ryan
- 1:37:32
Anderson and in three years 54 million four years he has on his contract and
- 1:37:38
yeah that's one mow to get a ring that's all he'll get one if he's going to Cleveland or The Warriors or Houston
- 1:37:45
wherever you going everybody going to the Warriors now Swaggy P I want a chance to go to the Warriors I bet you [ __ ] do
- 1:37:51
Nick uh hey Pat where we at with time I thought we did pretty good considering we didn't want to be here in the first
- 1:37:57
place talking to you [ __ ] look at that hour and what 40 wow good for us see Mo's not as
- 1:38:08
important you thinking he is I really enjoyed this Pock and now more be acting like he came on and just bodied our [ __ ]
- 1:38:16
now we just the best podcast [ __ ] we we can hold it down without you [ __ ] don't you I mean don't get froggy out out
- 1:38:23
there damn an hour 40 I felt like we just been talking an hour I thought we
- 1:38:29
were stretching the content here we ill man we about to add Chris to this [ __ ] sorry title podcast roll out
- 1:38:37
word listen listen it should have just sent the [ __ ] bag man it did kind of hurt when this album came out I was
- 1:38:44
happy about our decline of not doing that but damn it I know more I could have had my Rock Nation hat on when the
- 1:38:50
album dropped I still have the hat for you no I said I have to wear it when I'm
- 1:38:55
when I'm there's a deal I can't be that guy uh can't wear different creu hats when I'm not part of the crew yeah that
- 1:39:02
be C you went to 4040 on album release night on title and that was corny you didn't give a [ __ ] imagine if you would
- 1:39:08
had that [ __ ] hat Maul already be wearing special custom made Rockefeller hats and he think I don't know I'm G get
- 1:39:14
into you Mo when you get back here damn it I promise you he has a 4 44 head on 100% And and jeans and 444 jeans he's
- 1:39:23
the only one with him I bet you most cuz he wasn't here he wasn't going to get
- 1:39:28
jokes oh sleepers sleepers sleepers oh [ __ ] damn we crazy I know where's the uh
- 1:39:34
uh here it is here you take that I'll take this all right mad
- 1:39:43
text stop trying to flex it's sin Ry
- 1:39:48
guy for real my phone is over with uh so I was cooking yesterday and this song
- 1:39:54
came on shuffle I'm glad we talked about Salange and I forgot how great it was it's a sleeper the most but most people
- 1:40:00
are going to look at me crazy and say this is not a sleeper but this is Salange [Music]
- 1:40:10
Tony at the
- 1:40:18
table not by [Music] Tony Tony don't care no
- 1:40:24
he doesn't want me there no more I just want to know what I did wrong D make a
- 1:40:30
real good song and I don't have these kns to often I wish you could take my mind off but I really
- 1:40:38
like and he just oh it's not a
- 1:40:45
sleeper oh if you don't get this the [ __ ] out of here Rory you didn't know this song before seated the table came
- 1:40:51
up I didn't know any salon before at the table but I've heard this song that's why that's how I know it's not a sleeper
- 1:40:57
I I had to wait till the bridge came if it wasn't for
- 1:41:07
tonyy Tony don't speak no more it's been a we my time fast but to call remember the
- 1:41:17
way that I reacted and today he's even more attractive but I really miss
- 1:41:25
Tony then Tony called me one day he said that he just called to say hey and it
- 1:41:30
wasn't until he called me back that I realize I needed more than that I'm a
- 1:41:36
Wier and a little older hey baby it was nice to know yeah goodbye
