one at at my at my age it felt good to wake up saturday morning and go and just run

[ __ ] back from universal i need to look at my contract said uh meaning that we can argue that universal and sony have not supported

you fully and that as a result they have breached this is the lawsuit termination nuclear option if we want to go that

route we would litigate and ask for your masters as part of the settlement this is a high risk but high reward

strategy go for it master ownership we can look into buying but if tailors cost 300 million yours

would cost a lot more i would assume remember that if you re-record these songs you could own these new masters

outright a much more radical consideration would be to propose an entirely new relationship or joint venture with

universal uh one that is equal and not one-sided i'm sure i'm not sure you are interested in doing

that but it could be yeezy media universal joint venture play but one where you would have all the

power he said nah [ __ ] that he wasn't feeling that he said i'm not open to any form of

business with universal or sony i got to be a swag no but listen

it is important to you know for us to tell our listenership and our viewership that you have to work yourself

into a position to even be able to talk like this and have these type of conversations this is not it's not realistic to say this if you're just getting into the music business for

a long time this is a very privileged position kanye is the monster

yeah and he on top of that he's made more money from his uh uh fashion [ __ ] than music probably

at this point absolutely yeah give me a little [ __ ] pay for it what do you need but you know it's chess you got to play

the game and when you get to a point where you can demand these things but i do like the fact that kanye is uh

publicly having is putting his uh his perception out there and his feelings out there to

just get get conversations going amongst other artists and stuff like that i like that i tell you what i hate

i hate when you're on the phone with your attorney and they start explaining some of the options and the one that

it's a very important news uh the city of louisville kentucky has agreed to pay 12 million

to the family of brianna taylor and institute sweeping police reforms in a historic settlement

of the family's wrongful death lawsuit louisville mayor greg fischer taylor's family and their attorneys

announced a settlement in a joint press conference on tuesday taylor a 26-year-old emt was killed in

her home by police on march 13th as part of the settlement the city agreed to establish a housing credit

program as an incentive for officers to live in the areas they serve use social workers to provide support on

certain police runs and require commanders to review and approach search warrants review and approve

excuse me search warrants before seeking judicial approval among other changes

justice for briana means that we will continue to save lives and honor said tamika palmer taylor's mother no

amount of monies accomplished accomplishes that but the police reform measures that we were able to get past as a part of

this settlement means so much more to my family our community and to briana's legacy well congratulations

yeah definitely it's uh well deserved it's a bitter thing yeah

you know i mean um it's it's some movement in the in the right direction i guess um

you know i'm 12 million dollars is nothing it's crazy to losing a family member oh yeah i'm

sure they'd rather have but it's crazy to pay to admit you're wrong but not yeah that's why i don't really

know i don't want to with no disrespect to her family i don't want to speak too much on it but i you know just to me

it's like okay you know but still you know i mean like that's just where i'm at but still it's not

something that um the family should have to deal with you know giving somebody's family money because their their loved one was killed

wrongfully just will never sit right to me it makes you feel like oh your life is worth

what 12 million dollars right like i just don't you know especially with all due respect to the

family of course you know of course brianna's legacy especially when it's the taxpayers that are paying right right it's just it's

just kind of like putting a band-aid over a wound that's like you know it's not your band-aid exactly someone

else's baby right but congratulations to the family and keep keep fighting don't this isn't this

isn't an end to uh pushing for justice real [ __ ] you know i mean like it doesn't stop here and um

hopefully this gives the family some type of silver lining and um again yeah let's

continue to push for change in our communities and come together and support and love one another and protect all black women

the social dilemma i did i did as well i enjoyed it i enjoyed it a lot

it was um it was very interesting a lot of the things that they were saying are some of the things that i felt like social media was doing

but they actually went into like depth with like real incredible this was like a plan this was like

these aren't by accident or circumstance or these are like things that are really

thought about in boardrooms and implemented into your phones and into your computers and the most interesting thing

i think i took away was the fact that i never thought about how you and i could be right here and what you're seeing on your algorithms

your phone is totally different from mine which they say now what is your reality versus what is my reality

right because if this is all i'm seeing and being fed into my device yeah you start to think that that's this

is my world this is my reality the the part about that that [ __ ] me up even more is that like

it's political it's social so it's beyond just liking pictures of

girls right or whatever right like it's shaping the way that we look at the economy the world our interactions

with our human beings like our emotions on things it's pretty [ __ ] up yeah i thought uh you know because

there's been docs that were about this topic but so many of them have been about

selling our data to advertising companies so we consume things right this one really got into how it

changes our behavior and how they can move what we actually think about day to day on a whole different level

like when when they started with like the other side movie narrative i was like uh this might be kind of weird

and corny and then they started getting into how that affected that kid's day right and i was like all right [ __ ] this

this is really much deeper than just trying to sell me something with the promo code

yeah you're literally changing my mind on how i see things but i like the fact that they they kept

it all the way real it was like listen this is all just to sell ads yeah and to sell stuff to you that's all

this is based upon we are the product right yeah and i thought it was interesting we've talked about on this podcast how so many

uh executives and employees kind of play like musical chairs in the music industry

where they go from label to label and it's just when they were interviewing all these people and you looked at

all the companies they worked for it's like all right so they're just rotating to do the same [ __ ] just in a door yeah

do it over here or they do it well with one company and then branch off to start their own [ __ ] now they own this one yeah it's all

within the same lane but they were speaking out about it like saying how it's a problem yeah like that's what i liked about it they

were speaking out like listen this is i don't think we made this yeah we made this and we didn't even realize how big of a problem this is we

made the like button like making the like buttons a crazy thing that you did you thought it started for good and then

you get people that will see like oh no i see the other side of this right we can infiltrate we're seeing a rise and depression

amongst young teens and kids like it's real [ __ ] man it's scary it's um

but it's real yeah and i think that you know everybody should if you haven't seen this you definitely should check this out because

i think this affects everybody well anyway they had social media absolutely everybody yeah and actually

people that don't have social media because you got to deal with people that do have social media so 100 of human beings absolutely should

probably watch this show to at least see that side whether it's propaganda you could argue it you

know that's the thing that's kind of what the point of the movie is is that you can't trust [ __ ] anything exactly including this [ __ ] movie

like exactly it's a mind [ __ ] man it's a mind [ __ ] that where we've ended up as a society

i mean only joe has kids here but how do y'all see yourselves monitoring your your children's social

media um you know what when that happens it's um like watching my nephew with his uh

ipad and stuff like that like he's only four and at i want to say two maybe three he knew how to remember

the passcode to unlock the ipad he knew to press the skip ad button on youtube when it popped up like right

i'm like how do you know these things yeah so it's scary because they're growing up in this world with these

devices right you know i mean like where we grew up it was like television and then our parents were

yelling at us if we watched your [ __ ] too much of that or it's like go ride a bike go play out like your fam your family encouraged you

to go outside like my mom used to yeah let me cut the tv off go outside go to the park like you learned politics

from going out and interacting with other human beings when you got in trouble you couldn't go outside yeah exactly right

and that was like the end of the world for you like i can't go outside everything is outside like what do you mean right but um it's interesting because

you got to give again the entire world runs on the internet and

these devices so it's hard to keep your kids away from it but i think you should mind everything in moderation yeah monitor it

you know don't spend this much time no not at the identity how they were showing no phones at the dinner table let's

actually talk about each other's day yeah see how each other's feeling um but you gotta kids have to have it's

curriculum schools are now based they give out ipads as notebooks essentially regular [ __ ] yeah

so you can't keep your kids from it but you could die from something that we have to have that's a word not that's my biggest fear

up there outside of the obvious with having children like how to monitor this world that

they're going to go into right that to some degree i understand but i was not a child when these things were around so it's

not something i can completely relate to as a kid we grew with it kind of yeah i mean i remember the internet when i was

seventh grade i think was the first time i used the internet so i kind of grew up with the internet

right but at the same time we grew together it wasn't a necessity in your life at all right not even close it wasn't an

influence in your life on how you behaved not at all looked mm-hmm viewed the

world yeah i was growing up social media was a thing outside of like aol chat rooms but yeah what are you doing

in there chatting chatting you know sending pictures uh well yeah check out
