- 7:19
hey look that's when everybody started talking to their uncles drake started that
- 7:24
and needing privacy because they talked to their uncles before that line
- 7:30
i think cuddy said that first i'm offended as an uncle
- 7:36
nobody wants to talk to you you offended as an uncle yeah yeah
- 7:42
it hurt
- 8:02
tell us when you stood up well tell us when you stood out right now oh i was a young lad
- 8:10
when you had that realization yeah now you stood out when you was cheesing the deaf in the kardashian toast picture
- 8:16
that was floating around the internet you were the first person that i noticed i would have stood up to the toes
- 8:22
i would have stood out if i was stone-faced i'm just
- 8:35
we lost our minds to that line
- 8:40
because i'm just not the social type and campus life is crazy
- 8:56
[Laughter] [Music]
- 9:06
drake marketed to college j cole marketed to college kendrick marketed to college i like it
- 9:13
i've been people with the college people yeah i like it i like it pump it up marketed to college that was a college
- 9:18
gym yeah i only made that for colleges well drake rapping about college was
- 9:23
just a natural continuation after his high school uh uh fame degrassi right very true
- 9:29
jay dillon beats for college tribe tribe was more complicated more college than that
- 9:35

- 13:02
so welcome to episode maul is here rory is here parks is here jules is here cory's here
- 13:09
alex the great is here and sevon is here how's everybody doing man good man good good uh maul as hr did did erickson get
- 13:16
his pto days approved how did that go yeah yeah that's a good question we settled that we handled that you know
- 13:21
he had prior engagements that we spoke about everything's good yeah i'm just so not used to the freedom that
- 13:28
we have well that's the beauty of it though though and before i get into that uh
- 13:33
shout out to the app that uh tolerates us and empowers us sponsors [ __ ] with us heavies [ __ ]
- 13:41
with us yeah all that good [ __ ] best app in the world cash app you don't know the vibe shout out to them i like them uh yeah i'm not used to this
- 13:48
freedom right i think a little couple days ago i was talking to you all about just wanting to travel
- 13:54
want to travel do a part somewhere and the more i try to wrap my head around it like
- 13:59
it's nice huh yeah i'm not used to nice things you know
- 14:05
it's crazy though i feel like we don't like use that enough
- 14:11
we literally can do whatever we want and i feel like we don't do whatever we want
- 14:16
well a little more goes into it but i think now right it's a little costly life [ __ ] people gotta know there's a bunch of
- 14:22
it's a lot of hands on deck here so everybody got to kind of be on the same page but we really could just not drive a pod
- 14:28
and go to greece no absolutely well greece is closed but i know what you're saying we can do somewhere yeah that's the
- 14:35
beauty log out yeah well we're never going to just go to long island but
- 14:41
i get what he's saying never though maybe the hamptons yeah i'm gonna say it that's the history it might be a good idea that might be a good idea for the
- 14:47
place area sometimes like we could drop a pod on wednesday maybe thursday morning depending on how
- 14:53
we're feeling you know what y'all hold it down yeah yeah this will get you through the week but i'm so conditioned
- 14:58
more i mean i'm conditioned to like consistency
- 15:04
like if you if you're not doing it 2 000 pods born a day like what happens then i just i never
- 15:10
want to risk [ __ ] like that but i mean consistency buildings that's why right you talking about that
- 15:17
type of freedom now imagine the people that like own like fortune
- 15:23
500 companies right who can literally they have the jet waiting for them every day they can literally get up and
- 15:29
just go anywhere in the world to me that's like that type of lifestyle is scary
- 15:34
but that's kind of i can wake up i can fly to jamaica and get beef patties and come back if i want to today that's just people that live like that
- 15:40
yeah but that's kind of catch 22 of the people that can afford to do that it's because they work so much and they're so
- 15:45
consumed with work and work is their life that's true and they love that [ __ ] right not just in a like they love that
- 15:50
[ __ ] and have to constantly be people i do love work i will say that i really do love work and it wasn't until maybe a few years
- 15:56
ago that that i even uh became whole with the thought of vacation
- 16:02
and what vacation means and what it's meant to do like when you work hard and you're busting
- 16:08
your ass and america's stressing you out you might need to go sit down for a week and regroup and
- 16:13
re-energize and that was that was just a few years ago that i got concept september september of last year
- 16:20
when i went to aruba was the first vacation i'd ever been on in my 30 years of living i can't remember the last vacation where i
- 16:27
didn't still take my laptop and get some [ __ ] done was yeah i mean we treated some palooza dates as vacations but i didn't consider
- 16:33
those a vacation because men don't even really know how to just vacation totally without women
- 16:40
no i was about to say i still have never been on a vacation like a real big vacation i've gone to nice places but it wasn't
- 16:46
like i'm go for a week and just lay on the beach and drink pina coladas tonight at home yeah
- 16:53
i've never done that yeah never and you got to be careful with uh
- 16:59
if you if you are inviting women on your vacation or just other people on your vacation period like i've i've gone on trips where it
- 17:06
really was because i wanted rest and i wanted to get back right yeah don't have a day
- 17:11
full of activities planned for me why do women want to do it i'm not doing that i never understand that you go zip line alone
- 17:19
i don't need to go downtown wake up early on vacation it's insane yeah waking up early on
- 17:26
vacation is just really wake up at night time on this year i would never ever want to set an alarm on vacation
- 17:32
bugging out on vacation here you come saying hey you want to go to this downtown and bring gifts back for
- 17:38
everyone no i'm cool no we can do that today i'm thinking about anybody
- 17:43
it's my vacation you don't want to bring back a seashell for your mom no she don't even like shells yeah we
- 17:51
did all that we went to the little downtown bought the seashell purses all this type of [ __ ] and she's still
- 17:56
sitting in a dresser in my my mom house care nothing about a seashell just stop at the duty free at
- 18:02
the airport right yeah my mom tricked me one time when we went to hawaii but it was a wedding and i had to do the entire wedding
- 18:08
itinerary with a bunch of people i didn't know i was like this is not vacation know
- 18:13
it's just a lot of palm trees around here yeah this is nice weather we could have done this in new york if i don't know nobody at your wedding i'm
- 18:19
not going fax i better know i better know some of the friends yeah did we talk about that was that on
- 18:25
patreon or here on patreon we talked about should you and you now you rory always does it he gets people mad they don't want to hear
- 18:30
about patreon i was saying i didn't want us to repeat ourselves but no we were talking about if if you have a destination wedding
- 18:37
should you pay or should somebody else pay it's a little different from if i don't know anybody in your ceremony i'm
- 18:43
staying home yeah yeah and you end up at the stranger's table yeah yeah like yeah i kind of know someone
- 18:49
here how could you go to a wedding and not know somebody no no it happens no somebody's in the well
- 18:54
that it does happen but i mean somebody in the audience you could go to a wedding as a as a date for significant other friend or whatever
- 19:01
and no but if you're literally doing it i'm saying if you know somebody is getting married and you go and of course you know the one of the
- 19:07
people getting married and maybe all the people you know from that relationship happen to be in the wedding so now you're
- 19:14
in the audience along with everybody else and you don't know none of them i'm not going oh okay yeah i'm not going
- 19:21
any of those weird small targets everybody know the bride yeah yeah i'm fine got you i'm fine with that um all right gentlemen what do you want
- 19:27
to start music let's do it politics sports you pick it up the politics
- 19:33
the do it all we're gonna do it all pod paul is coping really
- 19:40
right look look look we met those days those days mellow over here parks those days over stoke the fires
- 19:46
you know all right so new york new music bryson tiller anniversary deluxe album dropped
- 19:52
uh four brand new songs five brand new songs my bad including uh still yours featuring big sean
- 19:57
uh is this timeless interview uh interviewed timeless interlude part two and this is
- 20:04
where joe starts listening losing focus amazing seven o'clock amazing
- 20:10
like clockwork cute i like still yours too though yeah i like that too but i don't want to interrupt
- 20:16
i'll take it of course not a knock the big sean i love big sean and i'm going to wear his merch more oh yeah
- 20:22
i'm letting me be a nugget but uh yeah that's seven o'clock joint awesome man i'm happy i'm i'm happy i'm
- 20:28
happy any time brycen puts out music that i really enjoy he seems like he's he's active again he seems like he's he's
- 20:34
he's he's getting he's gearing up today i'm not going to say that really why because active well what does
- 20:40
active mean to you this is his thing he just should be an active he just put this uh he put this out in this example that's what i'm saying the first version
- 20:47
came out in october something like that i think september october and that means february
- 20:53
deluxe so i mean he's more active than he's been yeah is is so that's a good sign to me
- 20:59
he's more active than he's been yeah it was october and hopefully hopefully he continues to be active we would love to
- 21:05
hear more music so of course awesome what did you guys think i loved it i loved it and uh i think he needed some time just because
- 21:11
he went and did that that thing that artists always make this mistake they go and get happy and hey they make a mistake by getting happy
- 21:18
he went and he got happy and was like you know what i think my mental health is more important than music that
- 21:23
i hated at one point but i think he's figuring out how to do both i think to um
- 21:30
i'ma just blame a lot just because we can and it makes sense last year was was was was different for
- 21:36
everybody and who knows you know i mean bryson may have had a bunch of plans for last year as i'm sure everybody did at one point
- 21:43
and you know the world changed but i'm just happy that he seems like he's he's just being more
- 21:49
into his his craft and into the art again because he is talented and we talk about a lot we just feel like he doesn't
- 21:56
he doesn't put enough of his [ __ ] out this is one of the few examples with the deluxe album where i'm actually kind of
- 22:01
excited to go back and listen to the album because i feel like i kind of it wasn't for me at that time so i want
- 22:07
to revisit it right and this gives me a reason too it was dope it was a real good album i like it
- 22:12
i like when beauty i'm not mad at the deluxe if it's like maybe people didn't really hear this album like they should have here's some more to stoke
- 22:18
some interest did you listen to all 83 records of the gibbs and mad lib deluxe
- 22:24
no wait gibson which one of the first one i don't know if i
- 22:29
remember that one can you pull up the actual title screen there's pink there you go pinata yeah yeah they put out 83 records off it
- 22:37
deluxe some lucy's in there instrumentals remixes but yeah it's 83 83 songs now when did they do that today
- 22:43
oh really oh [ __ ] that's too much [ __ ] that's too big it's a lot of instrumentals it's a lot of remixes to the other [ __ ]
- 22:50
i get it man streaming era let's put mad records
- 23:02
has that worked for many artists um i get it with an instrumental album or something like this where if mostly
- 23:08
one-minute instrumentals or stuff like that i'm not i'm not tripping off it i'm not sure that i'll go through everything a million times or anything like that
- 23:14
right but i get it because people do like especially like low five beats is like a big genre yeah and you were saying does this
- 23:22
work for artists as in putting a bunch of records to kind of uh yeah to
- 23:27
some degree i mean the more time uh a a user is on an album it ups to algorithms it gets
- 23:34
the [ __ ] front facing if you will it does the more the more time you spend on something the more an
- 23:40
app will uh make your [ __ ] priority the only person i think i've noticed that that may have worked for
- 23:46
was chris brown it definitely worked for chris brown i don't know if it worked for anybody else not in the the degree it did for
- 23:52
chris just because chris is a [ __ ] superstar but you know it's it's a way to get around that algorithm [ __ ]
- 23:58
okay got it i'm not listening to this 83 tracks of course you're not i didn't
- 24:05
think i still didn't listen to all of the dream when he put out the sex tapes three [ __ ] oh yeah that was just a whole bunch of
- 24:11
it was some joints on it i don't get it twisted but it was just like two when you just looking at all of that the track listings and the music that
- 24:17
[ __ ] just gives me anxiety i'm not going to make it through but that's what bothers me that artists are looking at that model where a bunch of
- 24:24
records will help them in streaming and it it goes against the music
- 24:29
right now you're just going to put out some [ __ ] you probably wouldn't put out let me add this to the album even though i would have just kept this in the tuck
- 24:35
right like i said with this i get it because mad lib literally he put out used to put out like three or four instrumental tapes like
- 24:40
every couple months yeah there would be a million beats on him yeah i'm saying for the for the dream project oh because i felt like maul there was some joints
- 24:46
on there and if you cut it even [ __ ] half right a third be back on the dream classic conversation right
- 24:53
right yeah here's a stupid question for you guys or a very generic question what is you guys favorite song right now
- 25:00
favorite song right now it's a good question that's a great question i don't feel like i've been listening to a lot of
- 25:05
music in the last month favorite song right now okay um there hasn't been much all
- 25:17
see that's interesting to me that that that that question that's such a simple generic
- 25:22
question i thought it might be pretty difficult that's a difficult question uh i came on
- 25:28
here a few weeks ago and talked about my favorite song at the moment which is that tempest record that i played here and went crazy over
- 25:35
uh and boy am i glad that music for me at least is starting to cut through currency album drop
- 25:41
yep currency album drop sir he works hard man he puts out a lot of
- 25:46
music collection agency sounds good man i like it
- 25:53
sounds real good yeah that'll be that'll be on my list this weekend i listened to yeah i saw uh jermaine dupri put out a
- 26:00
tweet saying what then he was really excited i don't was he talking about currency or
- 26:05
another okay he was really excited that an artist that he admires named a song after him because most most
- 26:12
times that happens after an artist dies so he was he was really happy about that he said he was geeking out i thought that was dope
- 26:18
because i do think people as we say get their flowers while they're here that's a that's a real flattering thing
- 26:24
for artists to do hell yeah you know i mean especially when like you said the the artist is still alive
- 26:30
and they can hear that so i you know i didn't see this tweet from jermaine debris but
- 26:36
that's dope that he was you know he liked he liked the fact that currency did that yeah that's love yeah i like it uh any
- 26:43
other music come out uh i'll be honest i'm about i was exhausted this morning i looked for you i'm a fine artist that
- 26:49
i didn't even know dropped um it wasn't a lot i think the only
- 26:55
things i cop was currency uh i bought currency i bought bryson
- 27:03
uh i brought the new tank record the the remake of the maxwell song um dj mugs and roam streets
- 27:11
put out a um i'll play it for the old heads here we go
- 27:16
oh my god see i'm probably not going to let me shut up
- 27:22
a recognizable sample who the [ __ ] picked this snare to stay here
- 27:29
they had to put something over the actual song
- 27:35
it works better when the b drops yeah it sounds better when the beat dropped but could it just left the actual this
- 27:42
woman's work and then just yeah that snare with no drums on a big
- 27:50
oh no no i'm trying to get in my sexy vibe let's
- 27:56
hit 80 snares here they come with them no we didn't 22 21 you know the 80s
- 28:02
snare is tricky you know yeah lady snares tricky hey last podcast rory came in here he played a
- 28:07
song for me in parks he said he was iffy about these drums i loved the drums i loved them but it was that
- 28:14
smear could get weird if it's done wrong that snare shouldn't have been right there in that tank record but uh so that
- 28:22
record came out uh and that's all the music that i know about came out um
- 28:33
lucy uh pop spoke lucy joyce rice and gibbs put out something oh yeah it was it was a gibbs friday
- 28:39
okay gibbs gave us 125 songs this friday
- 28:45
[Music] [Laughter]
- 28:57
yeah they're coming yeah what's happening if i'm royce gibson them i'm pissed
- 29:02
now keep that [ __ ] [ __ ] you know you're my [ __ ] yeah you want
- 29:07
that [ __ ] to happen uh i'm saying keep it where it was at oh stop pushing this [ __ ] i saw this announcement bruno mars and anderson
- 29:13
pack everything announced oh yeah and booty collins uh announced new album
- 29:23
bruno mars and anderson park announce a group and a project do we know when
- 29:29
this project is coming march 5th yeah oh right around the corner i think the first single first single first single was march 5th
- 29:36
with the rest of the record arriving uh on an as yet unannounced date
- 29:42
yes this might be the greatest album of all time yeah i'm not gonna hold you this that th this
- 29:48
was great news to see pop up on it i would have never expected something that makes so much sense right
- 29:56
they're from the music business right they said they were touring together which i don't remember but you know oh
- 30:02
my that's gonna be the greatest store ever no that's gonna be touring together 2017 i'm sure pock was opening up for him or
- 30:07
whatever yeah so that's how i guess now it came about yeah the up tempo [ __ ] that the two of these guys
- 30:13
together are gonna do this is this is funny a little different during the uh super bowl
- 30:18
which i do every year you compare past super bowl performances i thought about bruno mars when the weekend was performing oh i thought you
- 30:25
didn't watch football no just have time so we had to watch that brady um and i thought i was like oh so bruno
- 30:30
mars like i was like having heard from him so when i saw this i was like okay there
- 30:36
it is there it is right there like layla do some incredible [ __ ] that might change the whole
- 30:42
sound of music for the next two this this kind of feels like it might be the gnarls barkley thing
- 30:47
i can see it so i'm gonna ask y'all something that i've just learned not to ever ask in the music business but here i go set myself up again
- 30:54
where's all my money
- 31:01
no this can't be whack right no impossible right too much it's too much musical geniuses
- 31:07
musical minds i know better than this trap i know better than this i know what you're saying don't don't
- 31:14
use it wanting it to sound away in your head that you just don't do that these two care about music
- 31:27
here we are like the leather cover it's it's already yeah like i heard but don't but because
- 31:33
you know what i'm saying like let's not try to gauge what we think it will sound like it's all just i think it'll sound uh
- 31:39
pockish i feel like package anderson i would vote if they redid hail
- 31:46
mary i'm listening i'm in throw some throw some up tempo drums on hail mary
- 31:51
bruno's last [ __ ] was 24k right yes yeah which is 24 classic magic 24k magic
- 31:58
right whatever get and that was like super 80s doubt
- 32:03
i can't see him going that route again so i would see him picking up the um what's the
- 32:09
band uh free nationals free nationals in anderson and
- 32:14
kind of go in that lane yeah as industry plantish as this would appear
- 32:20
to be just because they're two very big stars well bruno being a superstar still if this feels
- 32:27
music-ish to me well what's industry plantation about two stars putting two stars together is kind of
- 32:33
industry-replenished no i think these two really [ __ ] with each other no no i'm saying i think in this degree this feels like a music decision
- 32:38
yeah not not a fame decision right let's let's align our fan bases together and we'll be cool
- 32:44
atlantic records has an instagram i thought you'd run it i don't yeah he
- 32:49
uses that sparkly emoji it's definitely joe drop something i've never used it i've never used that oh okay silk sonic is a great name for a
- 32:56
band yeah silk sonic and for dick and the stripper
- 33:02
now coming to the stage yeah still something joe walker the crowd holding this pineapple just excuse me excuse me
- 33:07
butt ass
- 33:18
was it starlets i don't think it would start yeah it was the other joining queens no it was starling was it it had to be
- 33:23
starlets yeah well maybe it was another joint but remember the first time you've seen her what do you guys think oh my gosh great
- 33:29
personality work of heart her personality he's amazing her personality
- 33:36
yeah on that stage oh god she's a star she had the intangibles yeah yeah you can't write it down
- 33:42
[Music] [Laughter]
- 33:48
gotta get you home with me tonight
- 33:54
through two this is what i was broke i threw 200 up there like that was going to entice a good night you throw that 200. she
- 34:00
could never say no to this that was a good night
- 34:18
[Laughter] you're gonna be there now i'll come right around let's write that out
- 34:23
joey move i know i did it i didn't left 200 said there's more where this came from
- 34:29
oh my god i got another hundred and reserves i got another 50 if you want to come back why don't you stick around
- 34:35
afterward and i'll leave with you all right i will wait three hours we'll wait till
- 34:40
7 a.m out here we're gonna take a nap in the car if i have to sad to be a man i've been trying to find
- 34:46
her on instagram i didn't see her yeah shout out to the listeners will find it they find everybody
- 34:52
yeah they'd be trying uh all right what's going on why is this up here we never talked about this i i like that
- 34:59
that king james is trying to steal my sauce come on man i mean how do you think rory is going to feel
- 35:06
like like after his album drops all that that's a good question
- 35:14
i feel relieved yeah how close do you uh uh i just call it trash but i'll still be relieved how close it done are you
- 35:21
percentage-wise if you had to 95. okay yeah 97. so it's done
- 35:29
it's there you're just waiting for some gloss yeah not worried at all about how the
- 35:34
album delivery process can [ __ ] with your psyche and your mental not worried at all about uh how maybe
- 35:40
your mental could be affected after the album drops by let's say either criticism or fan reaction
- 35:46
uh label pressure uh you know just just not worried about anything just
- 35:51
only focused on the creative stuff no i i kept that in mind are you worried about being discouraged for the next one
- 35:58
i've i've been discouraged for the past year i hate why because i hate everything and then i
- 36:03
live with something i love and then i hate it that's why like just i was talking to
- 36:09
latrice the other day mall our mutual friendly trees shout out to trees family great yeah just take y'all just
- 36:16
got to take that album just take it away from me the first the first time take just take it from me i'll work on this for another
- 36:21
three years the first album is very tricky like that yeah and and things that are amazing have been sitting in my soundcloud for
- 36:28
four months i'm over them but i shouldn't think that way yeah you started trying to retool some
- 36:33
[ __ ] that was already good yeah but but to your point that's why i tried my strategy was let me finish the entire
- 36:38
project let me shoot because i'm shooting a little podcast series around it as well let me shoot everything
- 36:43
let me finish everything before the first single even goes out just so i could just hit press play because if i start focusing
- 36:50
on what people say i may want to start changing things like nah [ __ ] that [ __ ] this i just let me turn everything in and
- 36:57
then all we hit is upload let's do the first single second single let's put out the podcast [ __ ] let's do it i can't change nothing
- 37:03
yeah i don't know how intentional it is on your part i just i but i don't know i feel like it would be nice for people to hear more
- 37:10
from you on your experience putting out your debut i mean you only get one yeah
- 37:16
yeah like i'm watching you you're flying all around back and forth studio
- 37:22
sessions this artist that artist you're reaching out to people like you're doing a lot mm-hmm yeah it's
- 37:28
been exhausting i'm i'm kind of over it enjoy it
- 37:34
yeah it's fun i can better under i can better answer these questions once things start coming out we'll we'll revisit this next
- 37:41
oh you'll be rebellious by then yeah in what capacity you won't be happy about anything in life by then and you
- 37:47
won't want to answer any questions well that's why we'll hold on wait that's where i'm at now
- 37:53
it didn't only go down from here yeah right but rory's got good music on his [ __ ] he does he does yeah
- 37:59
we did the uh we shot some content and uh he played the project and he got some got some joints in there
- 38:05
mm-hmm yeah i had this idea of uh which is coming soon regardless whether
- 38:10
i like it or not um i had this idea of doing like a podcast series around each record and instead of doing the
- 38:18
typical doc [ __ ] we're in the studio creating it i was like alright a way to ease fans in that know me from podcast to music
- 38:25
is let's take bars and certain writing topics from each song and make that the podcast
- 38:30
topic so we're not even really talking about the music we're just talking about the subject matter of that song
- 38:36
and we had some funny conversations some deep conversations some crazy conversations talked to a bunch of great people
- 38:41
sat with maul uh parks and dizza which was a lot of fun it was cool i'm excited just equally as excited to
- 38:48
put the visual portion of the other podcast [ __ ] out shout out to dizzy too yeah this is great for sure
- 38:54
uh did lebron and all your project because if not then it's probably josh rory executive produce
- 39:00
produced yeah my love for music is more insane than lebron's i don't care if he puts it
- 39:05
in capital letters i can tell you really depressed during this process i can tell you your love is there you got a really big
- 39:11
team you all need some really big rings maybe he could do the deluxe though
- 39:16
that's his bag yo i never even a deluxe wow yeah carl
- 39:22
thought about that how many slaps you think you got on you i don't think there's a skip
- 39:30
didn't answer the slap question [Music] skipping a slap is too different you know what let's move on man
- 39:37
i paid i played y'all a little slap the other day it slapped i've heard a few slaps i mean
- 39:42
i don't know which one you told them yeah well anyways coming soon i'm that guy looking forward to it
- 39:48
[ __ ] all right so lebron lebron is a r or something right something or he's
- 39:53
not or my love for music is thinking out loud look at devon terrell begging
- 39:59
shout out to von terrell my god he's dope my love for music is insane i think i'm going to do an album oh no i won't
- 40:06
oh no i will be wrapped up i like him too no i like him too oh he performed on a
- 40:12
live podcast right yeah that's my guy he's my man but that's begging he's shooting a shot
- 40:20
which is better you can't shoot your shot with the kim kardashian meme devon fam oh i didn't even see that i
- 40:27
was stuck on the ask first you want to tell them lebron you got a 16 is come on man
- 40:34
come on that's in [ __ ] insane i mean two chase did it it was nasty when he did it
- 40:40
i know we love two chains i love them too we do but that was nasty it was it was nastier wait the two chains tell
- 40:46
lebron in a sixteen that's not true i'm joking no no he just he asked them to and it was nasty when two chains took
- 40:52
off two of his chains that staples in that game to lebron that was disgusting i didn't see that well he saw that he was trying to market the basketball fan
- 41:02
you have a podcast it's the 31st best podcast in the world
- 41:08
i'm asking he took off two of his chains and gave to lebron like right after the game oh it was chaining there no it wasn't changing it was a regular
- 41:14
day this is a game i don't know you but you're not allowed to be mad at this why
- 41:20
your squad invented chaining people but you're not chaining them yeah we
- 41:25
haven't it wasn't like we are it wasn't it wasn't a uh emblem or logo it was just two
- 41:31
diamond chains and you've never chained us yeah what's up with that i've never changed you no you've never
- 41:36
came on this party and chained the three of us yeah you're right damn i'm i'm gonna change that but but
- 41:41
why why do you think he did that to brawny he didn't do it he did it to lebron oh big brother why
- 41:47
why do you think he did that that's th that's why it's nasty he was a and aren't just probably don't do that
- 41:54
yeah let me try this that's nasty let me try to remember what happened let me try the heart the game was over i'm gonna tell you what happened no no
- 42:00
lebron had just achieved a milestone i don't think it was even a mouse he just it was a milestone the lakers one that's
- 42:06
a master okay okay they won the game james was happy they won he couldn't say that that's what i was
- 42:12
happy yeah but you don't do that while he's still like first of all lebron couldn't put it on he had to hold it in his hand
- 42:19
it's just was look like that's nasty he passed that [ __ ] off like that was a
- 42:25
dope [ __ ] expedition like come on don't speed out of the seat
- 42:30
it's better that was nasty gonna shoot me man yeah i love you i guarantee you two changed
- 42:37
looks back at that i was like yeah maybe she did that well he had enough chains on to give him tears
- 42:43
if your name is two chains you can give somebody one you think lebron wore that chain anywhere no you think he just got it like in his
- 42:50
house chilling like in the frame yeah like a gift he probably got that in on rappers do be nasty for athletes but
- 42:56
that's okay but that's that's right like rappers and athletes do to each other it's it's nasty equally but it's
- 43:02
lebron this is the biggest athlete arguing rest in peace kobe i remember about a two year stretch
- 43:09
when he was trying to get verses for [ __ ] no versus i'm not telling my rap jewelry
- 43:14
i remember he was giving lebron jewelry is crazy this is lebron i'm not i can't speak on that i
- 43:20
don't wear jewelry i don't know the sentiment there i'd have to have changed no i'm just saying this is lebron lebron probably has that same exactly yo
- 43:26
joe come on man i got you oh man look at that i'll take this but she'll tell you your heartbeat rory i wouldn't tell you
- 43:33
yeah that chain is not going to tell to change lebron that's yours
- 43:46
those velcros ain't cheap man yeah if i knew rory ward is watching this balloon
- 43:52
you
- 44:06
i like when my [ __ ] tells me when to stand i'm telling you wait does it not work only it only works on your wrist and maybe just died i don't know that's
- 44:12
the most useless thing i've ever had on my wrist and i used to wear rubber bands on my wrist with the blue and lime green
- 44:18
colorway well you can't see that that's that's on the inside only the only the inner risk could see that yeah you got to look from
- 44:23
a certain point of view to see that that [ __ ] is ass
- 44:32
through it yikes no home training on receiving bad gifts you're supposed to just pretend like you like it and then throw it away later get a sexy oh that
- 44:39
was a gift no i'm saying i gifted this to you oh no this was a gift this was this was a gift please thank you no thank you thank you
- 44:46
please please that's for you that's old joe swag
- 44:51
new joe would never [Laughter] all right so i don't have anything to say about lebron and i'm happy for him
- 44:58
kudos yeah he should put out alcohol no he could probably put together with his responsibilities oh [ __ ] he is an album out that's just like
- 45:04
roy's that's what i was saying he was stealing myself forgot about it that's how we got on that topic yeah but i actually produced them
- 45:12
see wow already throwing shots are you producer shaming and i think mine's gonna be better just if you call a bunch of famous people it doesn't mean it's
- 45:18
gonna be good that's true it helps it helps set you off in the right direction for sure i
- 45:24
can afford all the people that are really good yeah listen i'm not mad rory talking to lebron man i hope him and cal dion came
- 45:30
up with it you hope they got another one hey the way did he talking to the king
- 45:36
yeah i hope kyle really went in there did his thing
- 45:42
hope you in the orange just get a couple slides i hope you can out chris brown chris brown yeah that's a fact
- 45:49
because when chris get the singing for lebron yeah my head a little different yeah yeah i ain't a little different on that
- 45:54
metro booming beat than on the rory drones rory ain't got no metro booming on this [ __ ]
- 46:00
nah metro thud i was talking i liked the show i liked it i liked it i was talking to
- 46:06
just yesterday uh and i never bring up my friends when i'm
- 46:11
talking to people but i don't know why in this moment i felt like it was appropriate you know justin's cool with rory moss i'm like
- 46:18
yo man the royalty bounce album because you got to get something on there oh i appreciate that and josh was like
- 46:24
justin uh but me like me no i said no i meant like
- 46:30
somebody from your label like one of your acts and he said yeah man rory reached out to me but i told him like my
- 46:36
artist don't move for nothing but the money and i was like i get that i guess
- 46:43
shot on my podcast when we went out to la but uh no i've hit justice more for like eo
- 46:49
stuff and other stuff i didn't have anything i want to wait on those type of things
- 46:54
i'm not running to my friends like yo get summer on this just to get summer on this nothing felt right yet
- 47:01
for it but yeah no justice game justice listen to the whole album uh on camera told me what was trash told me
- 47:06
what was good it was a great conversation with hmm you should probably find something that feels right for summer though i don't
- 47:13
understand what guys say i didn't come up with nothing yet for mike jack uh no because it's michael jackson man
- 47:19
just just let him go yeah just keep giving him let him go and do what he want to do no i get i get the joke you're saying
- 47:24
though but with a lot of artists when when they're that far in the worlds
- 47:31
you only get one shot one opportunity to seize everything you wanted but once they hear your name and they
- 47:36
don't like the first one they they're probably not going to listen the second time so if i don't even like it i'm not just going to send something to an
- 47:41
artist because i know them that's where me and janae went wrong just sent her everything i said
- 47:46
20 trash see you started flooding the inbox
- 47:53
that's where the truth for the matter that's when the real crux of the beef was born oh man
- 47:58
i was sitting on mass [ __ ] i'm like yo if you just do your little chrome thing in this spot
- 48:19
it didn't it didn't i didn't it didn't do anything to me in the first place yeah but i'll go to second place yeah
- 48:24
yeah i'll go back to it that's what i managed it was like she just takes a really long time right oh my god she takes a really long
- 48:32
time
- 48:40
i'm kidding of course uh what'd you do when justice called your [ __ ] trash oh you called the whole thing trash at
- 48:46
all there was one song that i liked a lot he was like no this shouldn't be on here at all
- 48:53
which i appreciate because i i really appreciate justice uh here of course yeah it was the same day uh that was the
- 48:58
exact day that a gentleman approached me about maul and his his podcasting with certain women same
- 49:04
night hmm oh so i don't know if i've ever heard that that's so low yeah i love
- 49:10
when i get to lean back with you i
- 49:19
i went from one studio to another and someone tell you man stop talking about my girl
- 49:25
oh yeah yeah it's so loud
- 49:30
all right twitter announces paid super follows to let you charge for tweets uh twitter announced a pair
- 49:38
of big upcoming features today blah blah blah blah whatever the payment feature called super follows will allow twitter users
- 49:44
to charge followers and give them access to extra content that could be bonus tweets
- 49:50
access to a community group subscription to a newsletter or a badge indicating your support it's twitter
- 49:56
tree on in a mock in a mock-up screenshot twitter showed an example where a user charges 4.99 per
- 50:04
month to receive a series of perks twitter sees it as a twitter sees it as a way to let creators
- 50:11
and publishers get paid directly by their fans i do want to read a little bit of that
- 50:17
next paragraph go back uh direct payment tools have become increasingly important for creators
- 50:24
all right patreon has been hugely successful in other platforms including facebook youtube and even
- 50:30
uh github not familiar with that yeah i mean they're familiar with that launch direct
- 50:35
create a lot of payment features they're probably a billion dollar company i'm sure we just don't even know
- 50:41
gentlemen this is a very interesting thing that's happening it is
- 50:46
uh maybe a lot done pack here how do you guys feel about this you're absolutely right uh and more
- 50:54
people are starting to get with this type of subscription program um
- 51:00
so uh people can be able to charge the fans uh i don't need to repeat it again but we've seen articles
- 51:06
i think i read one from spotify that says something was coming might have been some rumblings of some
- 51:11
other people coming to market with the same type of idea yeah everything everybody is isn't clubhouse putting like a tip
- 51:17
direct tip so i hear things potentially um i'm not mad at it because i mean it's
- 51:23
essentially the same thing that kind of we're doing like hey you can look at this stuff for free if you want or if you want to throw down
- 51:30
we'll give you some more [ __ ] i'm not mad at it it's not forcing people to pay for tweets but if you want to pay for tweets you can get some other [ __ ]
- 51:36
it's just an option yeah i find it interesting with what we know about advertisers and how
- 51:42
they benefit off social media of just literally selling our data to advertising
- 51:48
companies everyone is going subscription based which takes away the advertising well so
- 51:55
i am this is the conversation that i've alluded to is it because dozens of times in the last
- 52:00
month is the apple vs facebook fight it's [ __ ] huge because it's data versus subscription slash ownership
- 52:06
apple is trying to make it so apps like facebook and probably spotify and all these companies that allow you to work for
- 52:12
free or use for free uh can't do it anymore and do you think there's anything to do
- 52:18
with them putting zuckerberg on the stand mad times putting jack there trying to
- 52:23
change it has everything to do with the fact that these companies are doing [ __ ] with our data without a permission and
- 52:28
uh profiting immensely off it and then buying everybody else out and allowing zero competition yeah
- 52:36
i'm just curious if this is the way everything is going to start going and then what happens to advertising
- 52:42
that's a good question it's a good question and it's it's the question of are you okay with people taking your data and selling it and
- 52:47
profiting off it or would you rather just pay people well this is probably the advertising where does the advertising
- 52:54
exist in twitter now as it relates to the users it's there but and
- 53:05
a third-party app so i used tweet logics um but what we've known is that the social
- 53:10
media apps and companies sell our data and that's how they profit off of it correct
- 53:15
i think this may be more of a experiment to see how easy they could just go to
- 53:20
subscription base for twitter period maybe because i think they're running into that where they're going to start
- 53:26
putting laws and really delegating how these companies are taking our data and what they're
- 53:32
doing with it that's become a major thing so i think this is easy this easing into everything we do is going to be
- 53:38
subscription-based may happen um not anytime soon but i think eventually we may get there i think that the answer again is always
- 53:45
my thing lies somewhere in the middle there probably should be some data collection free teary stuff
- 53:50
that happens in the world and there should probably be some subscription stuff that happens in the world and it's okay for both to exist
- 53:56
same same way in politics where you know there should be the left and there should be the right there should be opposing viewpoints
- 54:03
coming together and coming up with something that works for everybody but how do y'all feel this will affect
- 54:08
the landscape and i'm asking y'all because we're involved now the boats would actually if you all have
- 54:14
seen we did uh in the nba kyrie's right but if
- 54:19
you've been just seeing some of the feedback even since we started our patreon
- 54:26
it's like you started pay wall and then immediately there's war yeah well people are so conditioned to
- 54:32
everything being free yeah well people are going to have to condition themselves in other ways now and i understand that
- 54:39
being problematic for some but so in a hypothetical world we have
- 54:44
twitter with twitter subscription based patreon uh spotify
- 54:52
uh let's say there's a world where apple is doing this well apple music is you pay ten bucks a month
- 54:59
and apple tv and apple fitness and apple news thank you and let's pretend there's a
- 55:06
world where apple is doing this this not that oh you're saying uh availability to have free and also a
- 55:12
subscription yeah who knows i mean if we're seeing all of these companies do that i have to assume that
- 55:18
that's the new wave yeah um i'm not certain i don't know if i've seen anything like that from amazon but i wouldn't be
- 55:24
surprised if that follows there but how does that look how does that look especially from a
- 55:30
consumer experience i'm asking like i think they just leverage all their good content by teasing it
- 55:36
to the free [ __ ] and just try to make people buy the [ __ ] of course i don't think they focus on it
- 55:42
and make that the free experience a good one and i do think that this is all a huge long-term
- 55:47
plan by uh media companies and everyone essentially when when napster
- 55:53
came through and crushed the buildings everything for free now we gotta condition people gradually back into
- 55:58
paying for [ __ ] same thing with cable news and stuff like that people don't watch tv or subscribe to tv at the same rate so they did a whole
- 56:05
bunch of online [ __ ] and that's all based on ads and uh data
- 56:11
and now they're gonna condition you back into paying for the [ __ ] cnn and conditioning people to not look at commercials someone that
- 56:17
keeps talking about youtube premium all the time i'm conditioned that way now you hate the ads youtube so i would pay you to
- 56:23
not do that yeah well yeah youtube has the freeing correct yeah it's all about because like they
- 56:29
said wait hold up real quick rory i'm but i'm not talking about free and subscription
- 56:34
for platform i'm talking about free or probably not free but free and subscription
- 56:39
for creator on these okay okay okay see what you're saying that's okay
- 56:44
you know it back to what they were talking about doing like now with homes and in your home you might only
- 56:52
see certain commercials because now they have data from your wi-fi yeah things you're downloading things
- 56:58
you're looking at so they're only going to market certain commercials to you sure and different homes so like we won't all see
- 57:04
the same commercials anymore we don't even on our phones right now on our algorithms hello the same ads don't pop
- 57:09
up talk about some [ __ ] it'll pop up on your instagram
- 57:14
i remember at first when we started first hearing about these things we was like what are they trying to do and that was a normal thing like we know
- 57:20
what's happening like you just said say something and you know it's gonna pop on your phone no question two three years ago that scared us the thought of
- 57:25
that like what definitely listening now it's nothing it's like we laugh when we see it now like look see it's right here
- 57:32
but what does it do we understand what the platforms are are gearing up for we think but what
- 57:37
does it do for the actual content creators to their strategizing right like that's
- 57:43
that's i would imagine like for me as a rapper i hated to even promote
- 57:48
albums i hated to promote i hated to promote anything but why
- 57:54
uh art back back to the whole art thing art you should look at if you want it
- 57:59
you get it the whole integrity i'm not sure i'm not forcing anybody to you know i just never felt
- 58:04
comfortable doing that so here we are in this subscription land right am i am i as a content creator
- 58:12
am i putting my [ __ ] everywhere that this service is available and ultimately asking every one of my
- 58:19
fans everywhere to pay for anything i do i could see content creators having a problem with that no i mean it could get
- 58:25
sticky and which is why i think the middle ground is the best because um right now it's a great time for creators because you can
- 58:31
put stuff out and get a fan base and get a following and build it essentially for free i mean maybe not to the creator you got to pay for studio
- 58:37
time whatever it may be um but if everything's behind a pay wall it it's it's difficult to get traction again now
- 58:43
you're back to the old way the music business used to work kind of well that this kind of goes back to that conversation you and i were having where
- 58:49
i was saying with certain artists that are coming up yeah the only option for you to promote your music is for it to be
- 58:56
free yeah because you're trying to get new subscribers new listeners and someone that doesn't know no i'm not paying ten
- 59:02
dollars for a album that i don't know what do you charge for a podcast rory
- 59:08
an episode or a month an episode hmm everything kind of has been monthly basis i know that would break down into
- 59:15
episodes it'll break down anyway yeah um all right so do a month a buck i i think a dollar a buck i think 10
- 59:23
bucks a month would maybe make sense if you're doing about a dollar yeah it's about about 1.25 somewhere around here
- 59:30
audio right sure audio yes audio yeah absolutely or maybe visual or
- 59:36
a little more yeah maybe that i don't know you know audio yes that would make it tough for lesser
- 59:42
known podcasters exactly but the same with musicians or anyone creating anything yeah to get your [ __ ]
- 59:49
out there you can eventually do it when you have that core fan base or a huge fan base that's like all right well i'll just go where y'all
- 59:54
are going this goes back to the to do that it's the free [ __ ] easier now versus then conversation because it's someone who was selling music
- 1:00:01
out of the trunk of my car for lack of a better term uh prior to the internet being a major thing
- 1:00:07
i would sell way less [ __ ] and get way less coverage and weigh less press but i made way more money
- 1:00:13
so but even like the people like everyone used to walk in times square
- 1:00:18
you like hip-hop you like hip-hop yo buy my cd yeah that was still that was still happening
- 1:00:24
when kendrick was putting out free music and i was like these guys they're gonna die and i don't mean die
- 1:00:29
physically but their music is gonna die because people are still trying to sell music right now and i can get one of the
- 1:00:34
greatest new rappers for free yeah but maybe they caught uh 20 licks that day and had a decent little day
- 1:00:41
and maybe yeah but did it get uh for the larger picture did it get to more people well if it was
- 1:00:48
just free if i just passed out my cd just pass it yo i like hip hop i'll take your cd i will listen to it if you just keep passing that out
- 1:00:54
passing that out passing that out you'll probably end up getting more listeners than charging someone 10 bucks
- 1:01:01
off good faith that's very difficult maybe yes and maybe no i would also argue and there's probably some statistics to to to prove this that
- 1:01:08
when you get people that actually purchase your product whether it's a uh whatever album ticket sale whatever
- 1:01:15
i feel like those fans tend to be a little bit more invested sure sure you may have a better chance
- 1:01:21
to get real fans and i think you do that by giving out for free and then targeting the fans that you know are going to come back
- 1:01:27
because they're seeing fights this could not fight this conversation they're having right now
- 1:01:33
is where is where the content creators are going to be split because in parks's scenario yeah
- 1:01:40
yeah hey a lot less audience but i'm paid a lot more so i don't care about y'all i care about
- 1:01:48
the people that are supporting him there are 100 people paying a premium and that's where i'm making my living
- 1:01:53
right i care about those hundred people rory i think is still on brand building sure yeah and ironically i have to give
- 1:01:59
this out for free and and that's the bolt probably a lot of podcasters find themselves sure and ironically parks
- 1:02:08
to get to the same consumer we're talking about the strategy we're looking for the same consumer i want the consumer that's
- 1:02:13
going to come back and purchase things and move with me i think to find more of those people you have to
- 1:02:19
start in a free world but that's why it's interesting what shooter's doing when i was talking about it like he's
- 1:02:26
selling his album from his own you know like he dm him
- 1:02:31
cash at him forty dollars yeah for the album but what he's doing now recently is like
- 1:02:36
people are actually paying more than what he's asking people to cash out them 80. some people catch
- 1:02:42
that from 100. same thing right people were dropping 50 for the album that was ten dollars
- 1:02:47
people were dropping 30 people were dropping 15 12. right you know what i mean like which is great it's awesome to thank you guys whoever
- 1:02:53
uh purchased and supported um and again i think that the answer is somewhere in between i bought it thanks ross yeah no problem
- 1:03:00
i think the answer is somewhere in between you kind of got to do both yeah you got to have some [ __ ] out there where a casual uh
- 1:03:06
onlooker may just click it and listen and they paid their 10.99 so you're going to get your
- 1:03:15
land 0.000 everywhere which we're assuming will be the case i think it's going to
- 1:03:21
take some time but we do two podcasts a week
- 1:03:26
your strategy is what let's flush this out in real time you give one out for free every week and
- 1:03:34
you charge a dollar for the other one in hopes to gain maybe seven percent of
- 1:03:39
your actual audience and get them to pay
- 1:03:47
i like the way we do it as far as like dropping a minute two minute clips online about certain topics true and then like
- 1:03:54
you know that's it so yeah that's we throw that out ask me i'm asking you what you do with the two parts of the week
- 1:04:00
no i mean well they talk about us or uh hypothetical okay that's specific that's in a hypothetical i don't think we can i don't think we can
- 1:04:08
not charge and give out a full podcast for free see i think uh and this is the
- 1:04:15
the these are the decisions that content creators are gonna have to sit and live with for a little bit yeah i think free has to exist no matter
- 1:04:21
how big you are period
- 1:04:32
[Music] the idea of it like yeah it's a pis all
- 1:04:38
right to piss people off just right there no matter what we still need to focus on our larger fan base
- 1:04:44
that is going to continue to come back every week for free we need to focus on them that actually needs to be the focus regardless
- 1:04:51
just so we can try to start to win the casual consumer over to then go pay
- 1:04:57
for the patreon stuff i'm talking from us just our actual pockets yeah we knew that
- 1:05:03
we'd have that small part of our fan base that would go right to patreon and pay the 5 10 25 if we just cut that off
- 1:05:10
we're only going to focus on them we can start to win people over with our free episodes but you know what
- 1:05:16
they've been kind of rocking this month yeah i think i think i think i'm gonna go pay that ten right but i think that's what advertising is
- 1:05:21
is you put a lot of faith in the customer board well when your product is good it's
- 1:05:26
improving you still supposed to do faith in the customer but i think i see what joe is saying i think it's advertising i think that's what you your brand wants
- 1:05:33
to be a part of this you want to put your logo on our show you want to put some product on the table on the walls that other
- 1:05:38
okay this is what it'll cost you so now the our fans still essentially get the show for free
- 1:05:45
but we're still making money elsewhere because what that exists we're not talking about
- 1:05:50
but that's what i'm saying i think that's why it's hard for people to kind of get away from doing business with advertising
- 1:05:56
because a lot of people are still giving the product essentially for free the fans may not be paying but companies
- 1:06:02
are paying for the file product see more gee listen man it's a lot of unpacking we don't have to do this here
- 1:06:08
this is unlocked a whole different door which is advertising most podcasters are not even privy to that stuff
- 1:06:14
but here we are but yes but now at one point we weren't privy to that that's true one thousand yeah so
- 1:06:19
you gotta keep you gotta keep showing up when you're consistent yeah but i people know they can always find you and always
- 1:06:24
find good product eventually people will wanna pay for it but i wanna draw a hard line between advertisements and subscriptions
- 1:06:32
they're not the same oh no nobody else will tell you that absolutely not they're not the same at all if you're
- 1:06:38
fortunate enough to get some ad money and funnel that the way that right awesome
- 1:06:43
you rock you rock you right you're well on your way right this subscription money is just new
- 1:06:48
space for all of us because it's not something they allowed us it's not tech they allowed us to get
- 1:06:54
with right until now but that's that crossroad that fork in the road that i keep talking about
- 1:06:59
where companies will have to make a decision in being able to let creators participate in ways that they haven't
- 1:07:06
before this is a step toward toward that what i would like to see from at least on the music side um
- 1:07:14
say say rory spends ten dollars a month at apple music or spotify title whoever the [ __ ] but he only
- 1:07:20
listens to emotional oranges and they your streams you might listen to
- 1:07:28
each album from each of them one time a month or one time a day rather
- 1:07:33
you're probably earning them a dollar yeah where the [ __ ] is the
- 1:07:39
other eight dollars going i i and twitter killed me when i said drake
- 1:07:45
is probably the reason so many people subscribe to apple music or to a spotify he
- 1:07:50
shouldn't have the same split as the unknown artist killed me for
- 1:07:56
asking if anybody had some equity and only fans it was like all right joe shut up enough
- 1:08:01
now and i'm like see that's the problem yeah some people are not ready for to even have those type of conversations
- 1:08:07
yeah so you can't even be mad at that like you just gotta understand people are not even thinking about that the reason why i love apple music or any
- 1:08:13
of these dsps really is because i can literally pull up any song i want your phone
- 1:08:19
and to me 10.99 whatever it is a month it's worth it yeah like i can pull up songs from the 80s the 70s and 90s like whatever
- 1:08:27
i don't have to run around with a big cd book and and play the music in my crazy like i can literally you can plug it in like so it's all
- 1:08:33
about the convenience absolutely it's all about you know being able to like shazam
- 1:08:39
we talk about it you don't know a song press a button go right to apple it gives me the name of the song add to my library
- 1:08:46
it's all about the convenience and just being able to just have everything right here i would just like to see those dsps uh
- 1:08:53
like the world is frowning upon socialism yet uh artists have to live by socialism
- 1:08:59
through the dsps we all have to split up that uh the money the 1099 for everybody right as opposed to
- 1:09:06
if i only listen to 38 special he should be getting my 9.99 minus whatever yeah i'll see what you're
- 1:09:11
saying but the thing with that and we we joked again at the beginning of the part of what a stream is worth why they don't do that is because once
- 1:09:18
they start busting it down that way we'll start to realize what everything is worth so they have to keep it
- 1:09:24
at point zero zero zero zero one per stream just so no one can really find out
- 1:09:30
exactly what they're worth to the app and what their fan base is bringing i give you 10.99 so i could go listen to
- 1:09:37
38 special right i don't listen to nobody else right his [ __ ] is not worth .0001 to you when i play that song
- 1:09:44
correct right that's why we won't really answer that question because they'd have to reveal what it is
- 1:09:50
when they split it that way yeah they don't want to ever confirm that phone no um and just
- 1:09:56
quickly because we've been on this for a little while it's a good combo i i do want to know what this does not to cut you off it's
- 1:10:04
kind of like no cover oreo no no no no i just thought about something like
- 1:10:09
you do it every episode it's kind of like when you walk into target love that store like i might be going in
- 1:10:15
there just for body wash like bottled water is so bougie by the
- 1:10:20
way look where he goes with his body wash target why not it's a reasonable place to go but yeah it's batteries but i'm just saying
- 1:10:28
you a c-town
- 1:10:41
that's like when you go to target for body wash and [ __ ] like that like dsps right yeah i might be going here
- 1:10:47
for whatever artist i love but then i'll bump into which we had this conversation before
- 1:10:53
like if a major artist drops on the day you're putting your project out would you be upset and i'm like i
- 1:10:59
don't know if as an artist i would be upset because everyone is running to this app because this major artist
- 1:11:05
dropped sure and that means now people are here somebody might stumble upon my [ __ ] by accident
- 1:11:11
like i go to target like i said body wash i'm just walking i might see some other [ __ ] like oh i don't i didn't know i needed that
- 1:11:16
until i saw it can i jump in on that point because every time we bring it up in this pod like it's like nails on the chalkboard
- 1:11:22
for me yes i agree that if a bigger artist drops it may help
- 1:11:27
a lesser-known artist in sales but that lesser-known artist is going to
- 1:11:32
have a rough rest of the week i don't care how your sales went you could have beat every projection
- 1:11:39
but when you get on one of your socials and say whatever you think the best song is yo y'all heard uh
- 1:11:44
take a flight right now no we heard all beyonce's [ __ ]
- 1:11:51
it's uh because word of mouth talking about take a flight right now right now
- 1:11:56
like it's just it could do something for an artist's morale it's all about just not working now you got to hope your project got longer to
- 1:12:03
help hope we could talk about my [ __ ] next week well let's also talk about the fact that the lesser-known artists that end up on that it's it's not a
- 1:12:09
guarantee that you end up on that big page you could be the dopest artist with the following but if you're not paying the label or someone
- 1:12:15
to get your [ __ ] on that [ __ ] front page we're trying to find [ __ ] new music
- 1:12:20
on fridays i can't find it like y'all just told me you have to search the artist they show me everything they show me [ __ ] i could buy
- 1:12:27
for 69 cent yeah jams from the 60s they show me everything except for
- 1:12:32
new artists new music what's out like unless they are supported by a major
- 1:12:37
label or which just came out of pockets and i still i still believe in word of mouth via social media me too
- 1:12:42
like that still makes artists i get [ __ ] from alex
- 1:12:48
and that doesn't really happen when a beyonce drops there'll be no word of mouth of yourself
- 1:12:54
word of mouth word of mouth is a real thing and it's a real form of promotion unfortunately in this
- 1:12:59
microwave ever word of mouth doesn't last as long as it used to no of course not well but
- 1:13:06
word of word of mouth mixed with label help marketing all that other [ __ ]
- 1:13:11
word of mouth is still a very important part of that you just need all the other elements you need a dance you need a meme you
- 1:13:18
need a challenge yeah you need a label backing yes you need to play your backing radio radio trying to come back
- 1:13:26
you need radio what's my challenge playlist is the new radio you need a playlist why doesn't apple music give us the new
- 1:13:34
music that drops on on fridays now why don't they give us based on what we listen to
- 1:13:40
our house you would think why don't they do that because they're getting a check from the labels is the answer though playlist thing for
- 1:13:46
a majority sake is all labeled hey that has to change yeah that happens 90
- 1:13:52
of the articles yeah look at my look at my library you got it yeah you can see what i downloaded give me that [ __ ] all that [ __ ] that's
- 1:13:58
on new music now i'm like i don't know who that i'm not listening to that yeah can you hear the vagina drying up
- 1:14:05
it's definitely happening suppose you've been driving this [ __ ] and uh but before we get off this while it's
- 1:14:10
dry yeah it's okay
- 1:14:24
we would say social media apps are usually driven and keep going because of the younger
- 1:14:29
audience if everything becomes subscription based that's going to be difficult for the young audience because if i'm a parent
- 1:14:36
you're you're only going to get two subscriptions that i'm paying for buddy i'm sorry it's not true no it's a different element all college
- 1:14:43
kids are rich all kids are rich too my bad no no no no no not all kids are rich
- 1:14:48
they changed the conditioning with the kids like back here we go again i'm scarred for life playstation
- 1:14:54
yeah they buy them in the game they have other forms of engagement where they don't have to bother their parents for
- 1:15:00
the credit card i laughed the trade was that apollo media credit card i want to buy a game how many years ago no that's never going to happen now they
- 1:15:06
have just other this other [ __ ] out there rory is what i'm saying okay my niece on my apple uh account when i was not
- 1:15:14
doing well financially and she went crazy it's a mistake it's a mistake absolutely all right i
- 1:15:19
guess i'm just saying with if all right if i twitter i was love you brother 18 when twitter came out
- 1:15:25
i was broke i don't know if i could have afforded a five dollar monthly [ __ ] for twitter and
- 1:15:31
then also for instagram and then also for netflix and then also for every last thing on my computer
- 1:15:38
if we all go subscription based i can see that being difficult even if they try to do a little video game [ __ ] with
- 1:15:44
other ways to pay and this and that everybody it's gonna be difficult to keep something going it is everybody's not gonna get everything now
- 1:15:50
is free this is a luxury business now absolutely
- 1:15:57
this is a premium business i think it's always been that way in some way to some degree i mean so the users and
- 1:16:03
not ipads are not cheap the users make those apps though instagram we make the content
- 1:16:08
twitter we make the content tick tock these kids make the content sure and get nothing so if you cut all the
- 1:16:14
people that are creating the content that make the app move is it gonna work
- 1:16:20
does tick tock exist if the kids can't do it no no no not at all so idea the
- 1:16:26
subscription [ __ ] i'm trying to figure out how that's going to work for kids that's why i just think there's a there's a middle ground because if i'm a parent no
- 1:16:32
i'm not you're not subscribing to every last social media app pick two you like here's ten bucks sure and that's great for the two that
- 1:16:38
they they pick the creators on that side of the ten bucks subscription is only going to work for 10 to 15
- 1:16:44
of people yeah it's not meant to work for everybody yeah it doesn't need
- 1:16:49
to yeah that's a neat if i have a million followers and only six percent of the people come in and give me 10 bucks a
- 1:16:54
month i'm doing pretty [ __ ] well doing great i'm losing i lose 10 000 uh followers on twitter every day
- 1:17:00
and i don't care the instagram followers don't budge they're doing whatever they want to
- 1:17:05
consumer facing [ __ ] that's how these companies became i know billion and billion and billion
- 1:17:12
ten times over companies and congratulations to them and congratulations to each and every
- 1:17:18
one of them sure i get it well joe you were recently uh
- 1:17:24
quoted in people magazine saying that you created creating was that yes i didn't remember telling
- 1:17:30
that to him i mean it's true i laugh at the fans i i i i recognize someone screaming i
- 1:17:38
was joking this didn't exist joe did not say i created creativity but you actually this is your chance to say
- 1:17:44
it and saying that to people magazine that's hilarious people know who created creation come on
- 1:17:49
man what do y'all think it's inequity it's me and equity
- 1:17:54
you know i really asked that question say yo and anybody they said oh if i hear another peep
- 1:18:00
about equity i'm like yo that word just came out right we just started yeah we got to put
- 1:18:06
it away already it was so important we're still saying all right y'all got it man
- 1:18:11
i won't say nothing else but you gotta cope with a cooler word i'm gonna hope that cardi b has equity and only fans or the white girl bella
- 1:18:18
harthon like no cardinal cory is correct cory on this
- 1:18:24
[ __ ] carty got it you don't think so i don't think so and that's an issue for me i'm shutting up
- 1:18:31
because people tired of it anyway gave us the miami pink today hey see what you try trying to relive a
- 1:18:37
little maybe a little memory south beach south south beach south beach
- 1:18:43
south south beach um what's up say vaughn if we go record a podcast in
- 1:18:49
atlanta you're not coming i'm telling you that now because you get real excited on some of those excursions
- 1:18:56
atlanta's a nice city you're gonna set up a phone and face the the computers they get the time stamps
- 1:19:02
on facetime man we just kind of touched
- 1:19:09
in the background of a rugs picture we all got to run over there yeah okay
- 1:19:16
and depending depending depending on traffic it might be too late
- 1:19:23
[Laughter] which is funny i've seen a few of the
- 1:19:30
younger teeny boppers i won't say any names but [ __ ] they can't fight
- 1:19:36
i've seen [ __ ] that can't fight having a blast with like some young girls that didn't know they couldn't fight
- 1:19:41
at uh rugs restaurant that was like the one that rugs knows this guy's dear
- 1:19:47
like this guy shouldn't be allowed in here we should pray that no violence happens
- 1:19:53
at ruggs restaurant no no no no i'm not or fighting not praying for violence but i mean normally when i see [ __ ] in rugs
- 1:19:59
restaurant day all [ __ ] is pretty official now to use their hands except for this one night just
- 1:20:04
one night i was like yo and that's [ __ ] up when like and that's why i'm not going atlanta
- 1:20:09
like if you're out you're out having a blast with some ladies open kerry state you ain't got your gun on you now you
- 1:20:14
just gotta look stupid in front of you in front of some girls yeah yeah she's got to take it i just imagine that was the night this young man was about
- 1:20:20
to have that i pictured him trying to leave with these chicks and just having a difficult time it happened i have so much fun in my
- 1:20:26
imagination so anyway savannah you're not going if you didn't know how to act in denver
- 1:20:32
i'm not really trusting it yeah man atlanta during all-star weekend it's for your own protection i spoke to your mom yeah
- 1:20:38
i spoke to her myself right he said you know what she said to me you know what she said take care of my
- 1:20:43
boy exactly so how i'm going to tell her yo your son was a
- 1:20:48
[ __ ] idiot we were at the hotel he snuck out stupid ass [ __ ] kid
- 1:20:55
left would you believe this stabbed his ass up in the alley they got
- 1:21:01
him good they gotta be good let me tell you man they got em good [Laughter]
- 1:21:07
you might not recognize your boy hey they got em good oh my god all right what else is going
- 1:21:13
on in the world of hip-hop that is super important and needs to be unpacked for the people
- 1:21:18
ceylon would have lost his mind and compound oh you know we talked about that we just
- 1:21:24
had to sit down and have a talk with him lively my [ __ ] mind it almost died in that place
- 1:21:29
live nation ceo says u.s music festivals could reopen by mid-summer
- 1:21:34
live nation has taken a timeline provided by the british government as an all clear for the summer festival
- 1:21:40
season selling some 170 000 tickets this week to three major uk
- 1:21:45
summer festivals that were put on sale this week and according to comments made around the company's grim
- 1:21:50
2020 earnings report on thursday it is optimistic that north america
- 1:21:56
can be on a similar pace gentlemen react let's go
- 1:22:03
thirsty yeah [ __ ] it i'm tired of this house oh just just shout out to the democratic party
- 1:22:15
i don't know if i believe that festivals will be back by summer time i i had dinner with our our william and morris agent of this
- 1:22:21
podcast and he was like man i'll see this [ __ ] coming back 2022 maybe wow yeah
- 1:22:27
so yeah this seems this seems a little ambitious and like i said i don't it would be illegal but we're in
- 1:22:34
a whole new world i think this will be a way to entice people to get the vaccine for you to either travel go to concerts do anything
- 1:22:40
at all you have to show some certificate that said you got both shots i think it's all gonna be interesting why why do you think this is uh maybe
- 1:22:47
optimistic outside of what uh just said uh just
- 1:22:52
school's about just just the amount of yeah uh i don't know the amount of precautions they're doing
- 1:22:59
the amount of precautions they're just doing on simple things like indoor dining i can't see this fast tracking to the
- 1:23:06
summertime where we're now going to be at concerts together but the vaccine is being distributed both my
- 1:23:12
parents took it it does seem to be uh i forget which one i think was the pfizer one they said uh
- 1:23:17
reduces transmission based off the statistics they've had and they do have i think uk release because
- 1:23:23
they're vaccinating at a much faster rate than us and they have very promising uh results and that's all
- 1:23:29
i'm saying rory the vaccine is being distributed people are taking it schools are being reopened they're
- 1:23:35
increasing the percentage of uh the occupancy in restaurants and we're in and we're in february
- 1:23:41
let's say march now and also even the older people in at-risk people with diseases are having
- 1:23:47
some trouble getting the vaccine yeah so once so once it gets everybody this government to care about
- 1:23:52
old people well well they they've said it kind of out loud yeah they during this no that they didn't
- 1:23:57
exactly exactly coachella never canceled right they did yeah no but emotional oranges was on the bill when
- 1:24:05
did they cancel uh they didn't cancel for this year no i'm saying last year last year but that but that's
- 1:24:11
when they tried to push it to october because they're talking about when i thought that was this summer
- 1:24:16
they said uh yeah and they didn't cancel oh no it says now off the table ah okay
- 1:24:24
but they also joe they also just kept pushing coachella at one point they confirmed it for being october of 2020 like they
- 1:24:30
they're just going they're playing about a year like they're listening i'm not bad at it this year yeah all right april 2021 is
- 1:24:38
off the table give me more give me more give me more subscribe sorry look at that loser look at how
- 1:24:44
that comes right now the best screen man we're not even subscribed to this newsletter
- 1:24:50
um if they think i'm subscribing to [ __ ] newsletters they got me yeah i read just that right there and
- 1:24:55
i'm i'm done i'm like yeah sorry look at that okay so they faded till they try to be in
- 1:25:01
october 2021 coachella is definitely a possibility but it's still not a sure thing
- 1:25:06
uh the decision depends on how the coronavirus pandemic progresses through the rest of the year and whether or not
- 1:25:11
golden voice along with local and federal officials feels that uh feels that the event can
- 1:25:17
be safely staged in april i don't know y'all i think by april i mean we started to see people led back
- 1:25:23
in the sporting sporting events april might be optimistic
- 1:25:28
but i'm planning i don't know for august and i'm i'm fairly optimistic that we'll be able to uh actually have it yeah i don't know if
- 1:25:34
august is off today that's obviously not how many people what do you think 200-ish so it's not obvious
- 1:25:47
yeah and you all agreed on 200 ish how much a plate [ __ ]
- 1:25:55
huh upstate much cheaper yeah two still yeah
- 1:26:01
that was just great to see you you can have a wedding like if you go to atlanta you can have a wedding if you go to miami you can have a wedding like you're going to have a
- 1:26:08
wedding right now people are getting married sure but i'm not going to be my family that's why this whole [ __ ] to me is just cr
- 1:26:13
and wuhan they was having a pool party last year well they locked everybody inside no houses but nobody got there wasn't no
- 1:26:18
vaccine yet i know they locked everybody inside the house so it stopped the spread they didn't do that here we don't need to get it would you let maul joe and i
- 1:26:25
record the podcast during your wedding absolutely i would encourage you in the front row i would encourage it and like the background would be y'all i
- 1:26:31

- 1:26:37
over don't do it reconsider read some litter
- 1:26:42

- 1:26:51

- 1:28:21

- 1:28:30

- 1:28:36
you cry at daylight soul splits i might have asked you that buddy huh
- 1:28:41

- 1:28:52

- 1:38:02
even know i was getting another day but please keep me safe out here like thank you did you do it
- 1:38:08
before or after you let up the morning farts well that's those are probably my sleep [ __ ] already
- 1:38:14
you don't fart during prayer i've farted in a prayer before what are you thankful for in the morning waking up yeah start there
- 1:38:22

oh yeah i don't know the premise i wasn't sure if they were still in queensland right yeah i told you all this uh while it was filming or maybe after the uh
- 1:40:49
ross pull-up that movies were filming they're coming to america being one of them i do want to watch and see what they made that look
- 1:40:55
like that's what they made his house look like 300 acres or however much land he has
- 1:41:01
i need awesome i need a ross intro today to give me this a moonda house bar yeah
- 1:41:08
that needs things it would be funny if it would be funny to have ross in the movie as like one of the janitors
- 1:41:14
like that's hard like him mopping or some [ __ ] [ __ ] my house
- 1:41:20
uh speaking of [ __ ] we were uh watching and talking about the uh hip-hop undercover [ __ ] oh man you
- 1:41:27
watched the joke joe did you get a chance i know we talked yesterday uh off mike about it ran home watched all three
- 1:41:34
episodes it's only three right four it's four now yeah oh well i watched all four episodes wait four now
- 1:41:39
we mean uh well four is up there now however many were available last night four is available yeah i watched
- 1:41:45
them all and it was cool it was cool i really enjoyed it man
- 1:41:50
i really enjoyed it until i figured out that these docs are just podcasts that's why i said i i this does
- 1:41:59
something to some of the podcasts and the youtube channels that i watch with people interview these these type of uh people from our culture
- 1:42:06
i feel like it kind of cuts their legs from up from under them a little bit now but i've seen them uh i've seen all the
- 1:42:11
the main focal points of this of the show now doing podcasts to promote shane deb
- 1:42:18
doing pods that was real good to hear hear some of her story yeah yeah sure um real good
- 1:42:25
it was good to hear from everybody let me let me start there yeah everybody involved it was shot great i love when
- 1:42:31
there's a dock and they make people sit in the big warehouse that's empty with some depth
- 1:42:36
yeah yeah yeah yeah i like it i'm on the hook i'm listening yeah i'm listening things things sound
- 1:42:41
better in warehouses um haitian jack was really entertaining yeah i like that i like that bully story
- 1:42:48
that he told yes that was awesome but that was the only story where i felt like
- 1:42:54
dudes was really giving it up other than that i knew big you wasn't about to sit on there give nothing up for real
- 1:43:01
same with trick trick trick trick was up there telling them the most innocent of stories
- 1:43:07
because he gets into the the suicide mental health i thought that was so hard
- 1:43:13
i'm not talking about yeah yeah yeah i wouldn't expect any of these gentlemen to get on here and tell themselves in
- 1:43:19
some real [ __ ] yeah yeah but no i thought that was a really interesting part to hear from trick
- 1:43:24
trick on that type of [ __ ] not only to talk about suicide then explain depression and everyone else try to question him on
- 1:43:32
it and it's like fantastic [ __ ] work trick trick is hella entertaining man yeah he is queen's flip is entertaining
- 1:43:40
i was happy to see royson here um it was just good is it good to hear that
- 1:43:48
you know because we've talked about how the streets control the music business quite a bit on this podcast so it's it's good that it's getting a um
- 1:43:54
proper documentary style from the people who actually are from that cloth and they you know if
- 1:44:02
you watch the credits they're all executive producers on it which is great because that sounds to me like they're making some
- 1:44:07
money off it yeah yeah it's just a real i never knew why bimmy got fired from def jam so that
- 1:44:12
was good to know too i don't i forgot i missed that story uh dubsy okay he was working with dub c
- 1:44:20
and something happened and then kev called and was like you work from home now [Music]
- 1:44:28
but wait he got fi he got fired from def jam he was he was a r over there that's back to that era where def jam
- 1:44:34
just housed all these amazing amazing people um right and he got fired from
- 1:44:39
def jam but then started working with ll that's how that [ __ ] ll ended up on that focus remix [ __ ] with bimmy
- 1:44:45
webb and nitty but anyway uh you got a farmer's remix there's a ll cool j focus remix i didn't
- 1:44:52
know that by the way i didn't know that that's yes really i don't ever remember
- 1:44:58
that youtube oh [ __ ] i never heard that yeah was it good judging by your tone
- 1:45:06
i mean the all right let me let's let me provide context i'm surprised you don't hang it down def jam missed the
- 1:45:13
record focus they missed it completely yeah and when they would when they were trying to get the steam back on it when the public
- 1:45:20
was over it uh then they tried to throw a hail mary the hail mary was
- 1:45:25
ll but i could only get ll if i also used his new artist which was
- 1:45:31
a young lady so the focus remix is joe budden hello
- 1:45:36
cool j and a young lady who was his act at the time and def jam serviced it but the fans was
- 1:45:44
like fam what is this like this we have this record we did this record y'all missed
- 1:45:49
it it's too late right queen duchess yes yes yes i have two yeah i know that
- 1:45:56
is queen duchess i've never heard this but that is how the the focus remix
- 1:46:01
came about it was those queens bimmy l webb come on joe
- 1:46:09
this is the favorite
- 1:46:14
yeah basically oh [ __ ] i learned something new about you today that's cool uh and well i won't tell
- 1:46:20
any bimmy's actual story but i think a lot of the murder inc and just ties with everyone combined when that
- 1:46:26
happened with preem and everybody like they just didn't want nobody in that building
- 1:46:31
universal when that case happened yeah okay so that there's that's part of
- 1:46:37
it too no i think i might have fired me before that oh okay
- 1:46:44
shout out to all these gentlemen that was some legendary [ __ ] that i watched yeah i really really really enjoyed this doc
- 1:46:49
and shout out to bimmy dab yes it's really good i like it
- 1:46:55
what do y'all think about and then we can get off this but back to that bully story that haitian jack told just about when the
- 1:47:02
bullet when he shot the bullying and the bully was like all right you're well on you on your way
- 1:47:07
now and he didn't say he didn't understand what it meant but when you shoot somebody and the power behind it
- 1:47:13
it's the first one now you on that side you you on that side now you know what it is and you in the game what do you think about
- 1:47:19
that that's crazy this i don't know what that's a brutal honesty right there though yeah that's how it happens like once you know you
- 1:47:25
can do it a a horrible cycle of survival yeah is what i think it is
- 1:47:31
yeah to put it yeah this is a horrible cycle of survival
- 1:47:37
i like the story when you told when they uh they stole it stole his pop's car yeah don't worry in the morning i'm
- 1:47:44
shooting every car thief car was there yeah you know right there
- 1:47:51
i loved his father's reaction i i think jack is the leader of the thieves
- 1:48:00
that was a great story yeah nah [ __ ] was great and when he saw the bully he told
- 1:48:05
him listen we good but i bought these yeah just in case
- 1:48:14
they all got your name on it buddy yeah that was a wild story that's hilarious and where was jack jack
- 1:48:20
was uh then that wasn't um he was in haiti he was indian he started he was deported for six months then he
- 1:48:26
went to dr beautiful in dr i think i even heard that jack was there at some point but dope dope uh if you haven't seen it this is
- 1:48:33
on hulu fx yeah anything fx is on hulu i love
- 1:48:39
that yeah i love that listen man i i probably use hulu more than anything else at this point in my viewing well
- 1:48:46
that hbo you guys be oh it's killing for me but the fact that you can get hulu and
- 1:48:52
disney plus and whatever that is but you can also get um for like 7.99 that's why i get my
- 1:48:57
showtime through and it's kind of nice it's all in one place awesome that's awesome [ __ ] yeah uh did you guys have a chance to
- 1:49:03
watch the patrice o'neil doc on comedy central [ __ ] that's what i'm going to watch it's really really good man just because
- 1:49:09
uh outside of patrice being a legend he came from a legendary era i feel like of the
- 1:49:17
comedy seller like his graduating class so all of them are together
- 1:49:22
to tell that story like that just makes the doc that much better i can't wait to watch
- 1:49:28
that that's coming central right comedy central yeah yeah yeah yo neil is one of the funniest human beings i've ever seen he's one of my favorite
- 1:49:34
favorite comics ever super he's like some big [ __ ] super small uh available catalog really but but they
- 1:49:40
but they get into what you know i think most people we that were fans of him even knew when he was alive patrice never wanted to play
- 1:49:46
the game and he would tell you that straight up and they get into that whole thing of how patrice could have been
- 1:49:52
you know on a kevin hart level to some degree but anytime that he would get a shot and he got a thousand of them
- 1:49:58
he would say yo i'm not doing this [ __ ] [ __ ] y'all don't tell me how to do my [ __ ] comedy
- 1:50:04
you're hiring me because you think i'm funny stop trying to tell me how to be funny stop it so he he
- 1:50:12
he shot himself in the foot constantly and admittedly and said i'm not going to do this [ __ ] like i can't respect it
- 1:50:18
continue to be this way you did it his way yeah he lived it on
- 1:50:25
when they announced that that someone put a tweet uh a youtube clip underneath the tweet of him breaking down how much white people love
- 1:50:32
radiohead's creep like a radio show that [ __ ] was [ __ ] hilarious
- 1:50:37
uh there was a topic going around on twitter over the weekend or last weekend
- 1:50:44
uh and they were asking which deceased celebrities do you think would be
- 1:50:49
causing the most ruckus on twitter if they were alive today and i think that birthed the richard pryor hashtag that came
- 1:50:57
about where everybody was like richard pryor would go crazy but while everybody was saying that i was like why is nobody saying patrice
- 1:51:04
on him what what his account would have been but theresa o'neill wouldn't be allowed on no twitter
- 1:51:09
yeah no there's a council no no no let's not say that because the way i think kevin samuels now is gaining a lot of
- 1:51:15
traction on social media patrice was doing that [ __ ] on opie and anthony
- 1:51:20
10 years before kevin samuels the same [ __ ] yeah yeah nothing is no under the sun yeah so
- 1:51:27
i i think now patrice in the era where he had to rely on networks when he was
- 1:51:34
alive and how we don't have to rely on networks now i really think patrice and most
- 1:51:39
comedians make it like in their 40s and 50s comedy is like it takes a while for most not
- 1:51:45
you know the superstars but i think patrice would have finally got his real just due and was able to do what he
- 1:51:50
wanted to do when you can when you could partner with someone like netflix who's like yo just
- 1:51:57
do whatever the [ __ ] he wants to be very clear this would not be the perfect error for patrice o'neill no no no no i think it's i think it's
- 1:52:02
it's cut specifically you can cancel people for everything exactly but you can't cancel someone that does not care
- 1:52:08
they will shut you for the countdown okay so he would not be on social media i i couldn't see him even sitting there
- 1:52:14
tweeting [ __ ] i think the content he would create the same way you can't cancel dave chappelle yeah it's the same way i think
- 1:52:19
you can't cancel patrice his fan base does not care he does not care he will leave right away if he
- 1:52:25
doesn't like the situation he'll leave the money on the table he don't give a [ __ ] you can't cancel that type of person plus
- 1:52:30
and we would have needed that type of [ __ ] in the sensitive ass tom for the most part most comedians that have gotten canceled and
- 1:52:36
most have been unsuccessful most of the time they're doing some real [ __ ] nasty [ __ ] oh yeah legitimately nasty [ __ ] if you're just funny
- 1:52:43
saying inappropriate [ __ ] that's still a go for the most part for the most part but patrice o'neill's
- 1:52:48
content was hilarious absolutely but he definitely would be the one where people like be like yo he
- 1:52:55
says some outlandish [ __ ] and you know he's insensitive towards this type of people it is they were saying it about him back
- 1:53:01
then that [ __ ] so like now in the room [ __ ] is [ __ ] legendary it's one of my favorite
- 1:53:07
stand-up specials right now you cut this podcast speaking of speaking of twitter someone tweeted this today of patrice o'neil quote
- 1:53:12
my girl has over 7000 tweets thank god for twitter because that's over 7000 things she would have had to say
- 1:53:18
to me [Music] and shout out shout out to um patrice's
- 1:53:25
fiance vaughn i did uh the static show with vaughn and ysp i had no idea that that was patrice's
- 1:53:31
fiance the entire time super funny girl super cool girl we stayed in touch via instagram i'm
- 1:53:36
watching the doc and she comes up and it says comedian i'm thinking just a comedian because there's been a bunch of committees i see fiance you're staying
- 1:53:42
in touch with a lot of people through instagram but that's it's it's social media yeah by touch i mean like you know every
- 1:53:49
now and then hey whatever like yeah i had no idea that was so weird to be a little tongue emotional
- 1:53:54
i've never sent vaughan a tongue a bunch of my entire life with joe a little tongue emoji hey let me know
- 1:54:00
when your show is how about seven i've never sent uh seven in tonga mode you know just asking think about it you're trying
- 1:54:06
to be next
- 1:54:22
you got a punchline coming buddy anyway oh you could do something with the eight
- 1:54:28
too it's mad [ __ ] to do here yeah yeah if this manifests i'm coming back
- 1:54:33
to the game i gotta come back to the game with my soundcloud freestyle
- 1:54:40
nothing is manifesting oh okay just checking yo uh before we get to snowfall right
- 1:54:47
it's lit sunday nights at 9 00 p.m or 10 p.m on hbo yo oh y'all got to cut
- 1:54:53
a check man enough of this talking about you [ __ ] for free um allen versus uh pharaoh yeah
- 1:55:00
woody wood the woody allen the woody allen dock on hbo sunday nights uh i
- 1:55:07
want to say it's a four-part series all not available only one available right now this was great
- 1:55:13
i'm gonna binge that one i watched this and this was great i immediately stepped right back to my mom's call moms up yo
- 1:55:19
man why was everybody creepy back then like what was your generation doing and
- 1:55:25
again i knew woody allen was creepy because i'm familiar with the case but just how creepy no i didn't know
- 1:55:33
y'all just told me carl malone was creepy yeah yeah yeah well he's nasty yeah facts
- 1:55:40
probably probably coming soon nasty nasty guy hey if the joe paterno
- 1:55:46
statue had to come down o'connell didn't get stature all right
- 1:55:51
but this doc woody married this woman who had mad kids
- 1:56:00
spent the entire relationship letting her know i wanted [ __ ] to do with these kids then somehow conned his way into
- 1:56:05
picking the kids to adopt the woman that he married was famous also yes she was she was an actress my
- 1:56:11
mom's favorite actress yeah she's using a lot of movies i believe don't mind me parks i'm just
- 1:56:18
we're doing worst take over here me and mo the lakers are expected to pursue demar
- 1:56:24
derozan and maul was upset about it because more hates anything lakers do to improve
- 1:56:29
no no that's not that's not it what are they giving up i don't know see that's that's the part of it [ __ ] you gotta hate you give up kuzma
- 1:56:36
in there cool for tomorrow absolutely if it's that's all but it's gonna be not that's all oh yeah what i'm saying it's gonna cost
- 1:56:42
that would you throw them in there for sure you throw them in there too for sure oh can can you call your all-star buddy
- 1:56:49
two draft picks see first and second round i think we first protect it
- 1:56:58
first protected second round pick no i need two second round picks for the rosin sorry i could see i could
- 1:57:04
see them doing that this is if y'all have derozan on the team that exists right now do y'all beat uh do y'all beat uh brooklyn
- 1:57:14
no corey laughed at me uh before the nba season started um when i said what are you gonna do
- 1:57:19
when hardin ends up on the nets he laughed he laughed at me but i don't pay corey any mind ever since he was
- 1:57:26
trying to [ __ ] our neighbor across the street said he said he wasn't more remember
- 1:57:31
that he pulled me right there you remember that he was there right yeah
- 1:57:36
that's me recording
- 1:57:44
[Laughter]
- 1:57:51
why was the neighbor at our house at 7 00 am like the [ __ ] is you doing you get a grip
- 1:57:58
i think you're trying to get some free acupuncture was i looking to more juice that much juicer man how did she look
- 1:58:05
beautiful yeah beautiful pretty yeah beautiful beautiful what's the problem you're not mad just got to make jokes no i was mad at one
- 1:58:12
point he was mad he was hating he was mad both okay not hating i respect it hey now i
- 1:58:18
always want corey to [ __ ] prosper but what you know sometimes you think you get an energy and you realize that now
- 1:58:23
she's just nice yeah friendly neighbor she's outgoing yeah friendly neighbor loves the neighborhood
- 1:58:30
when i thought i was getting energy is when i put two and two together and i was like oh wait a minute
- 1:58:35
yeah yeah it's just nice it's nice to me that's all you still find on instagram shout out to
- 1:58:40
nick um all right what are we doing what are we doing what are we doing what are we doing still fall oh i thought mom's gonna call julian let's
- 1:58:47
get to snowfall uh first spoiler alert we're we're telling we're snitching now
- 1:58:54
so if you haven't seen it uh be sure to fast forward through this part but one thing for sure two things for
- 1:59:00
certain when that dude scully gets a hold of franklin he told him what was gonna happen yeah
- 1:59:07
he said if you trying to [ __ ] me i'm gonna send every [ __ ] i got at you gave him the big guns too
- 1:59:14
gave them the big big boys homeboy [ __ ] that [ __ ] up this is going
- 1:59:20
to be a great season it looks like yeah i'm happy for uh scully is deandre bonds i'm happy for him he um
- 1:59:27
he did some jail time and he was away for a few years and seems like he's you know back full
- 1:59:33
acting swing and he's doing a great job i think he's going to be the breakout star this this uh this season
- 1:59:38
that's i hate to be on some takashi [ __ ] that's my man right there the cop oh yeah he's a good actor that's what i
- 1:59:44
meant the cop the guy the guy the white guy yeah yeah he's a good actor you've seen what he did
- 1:59:49
we ain't got to say it i don't want to spoil it no this season this season right here yo stop talking
- 1:59:55
please get your man yeah yeah that'll quiet things down
- 2:00:00
yeah i learned that no was that south central did that happen that was south central i think yeah
- 2:00:05
anyway where are you on south central of course i am okay just checking yeah this season the snowfall looks like
- 2:00:11
it's going to be it's off to uh one of those type of stars like this [ __ ] they setting the ball right this
- 2:00:16
might be as good as power just stop it don't don't don't do it this is a lot better than power
- 2:00:23
just a little trolly toronto no i don't know if you're trolling you came right to you i think power's
- 2:00:28
better than the wire but power i mean when we first started
- 2:00:34
watching power the first two seasons first three seasons i ain't gonna lie we
- 2:00:52
my statement was if this continues at this rate i could see a world where
- 2:00:58
yeah but it didn't nowhere near nowhere it was bad fast
- 2:01:04
everyone forgive the wire for season two and just take it for one minute and the more time the passage is i have
- 2:01:10
a greater appreciation for ceo i don't know why people ever really knocked season two like that i can tell
- 2:01:15
you why yeah and retrospective season i just i understand why it had to happen it was too david simon-esque
- 2:01:21
like you should have stuck with what was working but it so now you see how's the setup
- 2:01:26
for it i know but yeah that's what i'm saying it came together though yeah it was a whole reason after season one though yeah yeah coming
- 2:01:32
off that high yeah yeah definitely get it they're gonna kill franklin well no they're not
- 2:01:37
because it's a real story loosely based he's alive yeah he's alive uh but yeah
- 2:01:45
he's uh d'angelo's mother-in-law i'm excited that we have something to uh oh maybe she'll be there as friends
- 2:01:51
at the apollo no no see what you know d'angelo d'angelo in the wild how
- 2:01:57
do we know man d'angelo from the wife angelo virginia that's an amazing artist no
- 2:02:07
are you all going to be there as friends no all right we were not invited are you guys going to be watching and screaming
- 2:02:12
why is my instagram up i know [ __ ] that was invited that's not going
- 2:02:18
i know friends like yo come before you really [ __ ] no no no i'm busy i'm
- 2:02:23
gonna chill home that night yeah nah i'm gonna watch them i'm gonna watch two parks yeah
- 2:02:29
these guys misleading messaging yeah yeah you're gonna watch i'm gonna
- 2:02:36
watch too how long how long i'll probably i'm not gonna say i'm gonna sit here i know you're not gonna say that you
- 2:02:42
wanna you wanna see with a friend you're not watching the whole thing how do you know that what if it's fire if it's fire of course but right this
- 2:02:48
second you're not going into this saying i'm watching the whole thing no you're not you're saying i don't believe that deangelo
- 2:02:54
with friends i'm watching that yeah who are his friends he don't have to find out you don't know you wouldn't go
- 2:03:00
to a pool party if i'd be like yo you know just some friends the pool party going who's gonna be there they're friends me and friends yeah but you would need
- 2:03:08
some names no it's a little different why i'm gonna compliment my guy today okay
- 2:03:14
joe is the d'angelo pool parties if joe says come to the pool party i'm going to the pool party i don't need much information
- 2:03:21
i know his resume when it comes to pool parties okay and friends if someone that i don't know said come
- 2:03:27
to the pool party i'm gonna ask well who's going okay d'angelo has friends
- 2:03:32
that i think i want to see absolutely i'm gonna definitely watch i'm not gonna say i'm gonna sit there glued for the entire three hours or
- 2:03:38
whatever i might do some other [ __ ] while i'm watching it start painting back background music you know yeah but i'm gonna tune in why wouldn't
- 2:03:45
i no i'm gonna check it out just because we haven't seen d'angelo in in five or so yeah that alone was enough i'll be tuned in
- 2:03:54
yeah that's not enough of me to see d'angelo perform no that i haven't seen him in a long time that part is not enough
- 2:04:00
for me y'all wanna check him out because it's been a while since i checked him out no
- 2:04:06
like d'angelo is still deangelo to me so if i'm checking it out that's why i'm checking it out because d'angelo is
- 2:04:11
deangelo and that's what i expect to see that's like when there weren't very many d'angelo sightings and then we got word
- 2:04:17
in new york city that he was performing at like baltimore nobody knew like on the low type [ __ ] i
- 2:04:23
was like wow nah we headed to bull more than to watch that we want to see that
- 2:04:28
today though friends he's got some pretty cool friends he's
- 2:04:33
got some crazy the cap says by the way he's got a lot of friends just the soul quarians would get me
- 2:04:39
there to watch yeah but that's not a versus some peace dylan i'm sorry that so can somebody explain
- 2:04:44
to me see i see what joe is saying yeah like what is it is it well i don't know what it's we'll see is he gonna have a jam session
- 2:04:54
no yeah i get it but it's like we don't and what versus is and what we've come to know it as
- 2:05:00
it's kind of like what do you who's the like what is this is it maybe evolving before our very eyes and if i'm
- 2:05:07
a friend i got to know what song i'm versus versus sing against yeah yeah you don't
- 2:05:12
want no surprises yeah yeah yeah i'll be curious if if the friends if i'm q-tip i need to
- 2:05:19
know what i'm going against with nothing even matters like let me know my verses yeah i'm not
- 2:05:24
walking into a left hook somebody's gonna tell me what's going on here i just want one i just want one answer
- 2:05:31
your call has been your call has been forwarded buddy we
- 2:05:38
know what you want oh i'm calling back they don't forward my [ __ ]
- 2:05:43
yo larry jackson this is joe budden calling live from the joe budden podcast how are you doing
- 2:05:50
wow am i uh on air like how does this work is is it uh you're on air don't say anything incriminating i'm talking about
- 2:05:56
d'angelo versus can i can i curse or
- 2:06:09
none of the audience knows that you curse we don't know anybody from apple curses
- 2:06:15
larry listen to me real quick because we're doing a piece and we're talking about deandre versus yeah yeah yeah angelo versus
- 2:06:21
featuring friends and life life and life life from the historic apollo theater
- 2:06:28
what is this what is this coming out tomorrow by the
- 2:06:34
way so yeah this will be yeah this is coming out oh this is coming out tomorrow yes
- 2:06:39
i'm talking about what will be happening wow okay um what is this as in terms of uh
- 2:06:46
versus what what part what part what part are you looking at how is he gonna versus his friends how is this a versus larry
- 2:06:53
i mean you know the guy is uh you know he's he's a he's a unicorn i gotta say
- 2:06:58
but by the way the fact that how about this let's dwell on this for a second the fact that
- 2:07:04
and i and i have so much love from the fact that i got d'angelo to come out of wherever he was at for this is even
- 2:07:11
you know he he could he could do it by himself you know what i'm saying he's such a uh a unicorn and such a snow leopard and
- 2:07:18
such a legend you know that uh you know he's not he's not he's not a
- 2:07:24
normal kind of cat you know i see what's going on we gave you a spot a spontaneous call that you weren't
- 2:07:30
prepared for and now you're just doing it i just don't want to ruin the surprise about who's going to be there i don't
- 2:07:36
want to i don't want to ruin the surprise well can you just tell us the not who's going to be there we don't care about it is he versus seeing anyone
- 2:07:42
yeah i just want to know how it's going to work like should i call mario or somebody to stand in
- 2:07:49
somebody music soul chat what do you want me to do this friendship ain't really making me
- 2:07:54
cut on my apple tv yet whatever time you're saying give the people something larry oh
- 2:08:01
wow um it's it's we're gonna we're gonna play with the format
- 2:08:06
and it's going to be something that you wouldn't even expect in terms of how he would be going up against somebody i'll tell you that
- 2:08:13
all right i'll tell you that and and and i think i think i think i think you'll be pleasantly surprised is this just are
- 2:08:20
they just going to do a bunch of duets and that's going to be the verses hey i do this song with you so we're going to sing together and we're versus sing on
- 2:08:26
the same song that we're on larry's my guy clearly he's being evasive on some facts i'm assuming it's for a
- 2:08:33
reason i'm assuming he's media trained so i'm going to leave this alone i'm going to take the vibe
- 2:08:38
i'm going to take the hint don't press him rory no i'm asked did maxwell want to smoke or not why
- 2:08:46
can't i come back on joe buttons podcast for a different kind of interview you
- 2:08:51
know what i mean like you should come kick off the very first time you guys call me speak about
- 2:08:56
something it's with this kind of pressure man this is hard man larry you can come on this podcast any time
- 2:09:02
anytime you like won i'm done pressuring you about this we will we will tune in to see him versus
- 2:09:08
himself [Music] now he won't he won't be he won't be versus himself i can tell you that
- 2:09:14
so there's going to be a mystery person there that you guys couldn't say for some reason yeah yeah most definitely it's gonna be
- 2:09:19
it's gonna be interesting kind of uh play on the format that's all i could say but it'll be well worth the watch
- 2:09:26
for sure one without a question we're gonna call you the very next part
- 2:09:34
you know what and i and i would be happy to take that call and explain myself so awesome awesome we love d'angelo so
- 2:09:40

- 2:09:46
too man my man in a minute all right i couldn't hung up no faster
- 2:09:55
he started naming it unicorns snow leopards
- 2:10:12
like he's kind of like a harry potter type the fact that we even got him is like
- 2:10:17
the battle itself though i do i do believe him in that sense yeah no doubt getting d'angelo is
- 2:10:23
extremely difficult forever and shout out to larry man i like larry a lot of course
- 2:10:28
of course not often you hear a guy as established and accomplished as larry
- 2:10:33
stuttering on a podcast that was good i'ma watch it he's
- 2:10:39
promising me an opponent no did i did i read that wrong no he's promising me an opponent so i'll
- 2:10:46
watch because i don't give a [ __ ] about deangelo's friends can i be can i be truthful
- 2:10:51
how i interpreted that and i'll do my before [ __ ] larry love you all [ __ ] i interpreted that as larry going fam we
- 2:10:57
don't even have to [ __ ] d'angelo that might be part of it that might be a part of it i don't have a [ __ ] clue
- 2:11:04
well you don't know we got d'angelo it's gonna be great we're gonna produce it well whatever d'angelo wants to do in
- 2:11:09
that [ __ ] stage he's got lights and cameras we'll do what we're good at yeah if d'angelo wants to do the angel's
- 2:11:16
still from that cloth of the secrecy world of music we're not telling you [ __ ] till we show up on
- 2:11:21
stage and you'll see what it is
- 2:11:27
he better find somebody to battle i know that hey you better call up angie stone
- 2:11:35
you better you better call somebody god damn it he said it's going to be interesting
- 2:11:42
angie might be there if she ain't you better horace brown

- 2:11:54

- 2:12:04
imagine d'angelo just really introducing his real friends hey it was my man growing up this is
- 2:12:11
easy [Laughter] today
- 2:12:17
like i don't know why y'all ran into that no i'm really this is d'angelo
- 2:12:23
does he have friends a lot of them who what uh according to apple they said by
- 2:12:29
the way he has a lot of friends is lori harvey going
- 2:12:35

you're good enough to actually make the playoffs you should make the playoffs yeah and you you know that means that'll
- 2:19:25

- 2:19:53
they flew under the people didn't really talk about it but that was that was major i just don't think the

would turn out like that who knew that julius was about to come in and have well one of the best years of his career
- 2:20:10
