for 80 bars record like i think that freedom plays a part in that for sure actually

according to act the label just got this [ __ ] like two days before like he sent it to them two days before

i did not hear this as soon as it dropped i was asleep on my fifth dream i woke up at around 3 a.m

heard it was like okay went back to bed woke up again a few hours later heard it

said the same thing went on about my day okay um

i caught a snippet first and then and then the track itself came out i guess about an hour or so

before midnight it went up on i believe title and youtube or something like that it was untitled early i saw it early and

uh 11 o'clock or something i didn't expect i didn't know what we were getting so

i was like oh [ __ ] she did it too before y'all give me opinions on that

what does this mean anything uh when you say this what do you mean about this

two of the bigger artists leading with this type of yeah too i do think that there's

um some credence to the fact that tick-tock is popular and i'm not saying that these guys make art music for

tick-tock but i could see them saying i can hit that i could do something like that that i still can stand behind yeah

with integrity but i'm gonna do it my way i can see that what i've been seeing is this we've been seeing for

the last couple months artists all calibers have been

kind of we saying the same thing i'm being told i gotta do something for tick-tock

that's been the story all the way across the board yeah whether it be i gotta put a video out and i gotta go viral or i

gotta create a challenge that goes viral for big artists too not for nothing exactly that's what i'm saying

so to me it trick they they got the message too but they were able to do it hey i wanted

to make this kind of music anyway i can do this so it's a win-win it's not like some of

the other artists where they're like dude it's killing me i got to do something for tick-tock i don't want to do this right

and this goes back to the old and pardon me this part my it's just a lot

to think about this goes back to the old what came first the chicken or the egg this what y'all are talking about uh are

you using the phone or is the phone using you that that is what this comes down to for me is it art

it's our this is art um [Music] it's it's

it is art that it's restricted it's art that is being

dictated by the tech so yes it is art but it's almost like ai art

remember cat william said if you're a comedian and they take certain things from you if

you're a real comedian you can work within those confines to make people laugh so if the label is telling you that you

need to do certain stuff and you're a real musician or you're a real artist you should be able to work within that

scope you get what i'm saying to still i'll take a step further too like art

often is a reflection on life true what's happening in the world

that's true and if that just happens to be now what's happening on your phone

who what still work it still are still reflecting the times like and right now tick-tock is the times

and it's a job kind of too wait huh i'm agreeing with parks in that i know and i'm not gonna argue with you

guys i just need that to be explained to me some more if art is often reflecting the times we can agree with that right what's

happening in the world 60s music was going off what's happening uh uh vietnam and

all this [ __ ] that was happening these 90s same [ __ ] i'm following why is it wrong now if what the times is is

digital in your phone and your computer but you're saying i think i understand what you're saying and that's my beef

yeah it's art but these songs are telling you nothing about the times tik tok is not the time

it's the tech that's in the now it's a good point the songs are not telling us anything about the time hers is a little

bit what is it telling us talk about quitting your job and that's true turn it up and that isn't

that no this song is not about this i want to argue with him right now

this song and many others because i don't want to highlight this one is selling

selling steak to the oppressed so

quit your job do you think that's a new thing that was a bargain you think that's a new

one you think people are just now quitting their job or or they're reflecting on it a lot more in the last couple years no we're in a recession and

a lot of [ __ ] that didn't fly fell flat on their [ __ ] face no doubt but they might still have 99

they might still have 299. well we can talk about the quit your job we can talk about the ethics of

saying that kind of [ __ ] in a song if you want but that's a different conversation stop not for me because i want to highlight the construction of a

i music and i'm not just talking about this song but when you hear the biggest

artist arguably in the world come out with every popular catchphrase

with every popular movement and point quit your job of whatever i don't

want to read this uh but anything to inspire and motivate and cling to the heartstrings

as a song maker you hear that you know the science in this song from the music

to the lyrics to the chorus to the artist i'm not saying that those things are not

true to beyonce but this song did not tell us anything new about the time or the artist

to that you say i don't think that all music particularly dance music is necessarily um a social commentary

scroll down well we started with music be a reflection of the time so yes

i agree with you dance music sometimes it is down it doesn't have to

be that mm-hmm and i guess that's part of the reason let me talk to you in two seconds and i

guess that's part of why i do appreciate the drake project so much because still on this dance project

he found a way to still deliver him and words that were true to him which is the same [ __ ]

throughout his whole career but a different take on some of the girly [ __ ] like oh [ __ ] that's unique and and not saying this is not

unique because let me be clear i think this is a smash i think this record is a smash

i think you'll hear it everywhere i think it leads to a lot of other conversations that probably need to be

had just about music and where it is how it's being made who's buying it who are

they marketing to who matters who don't um oh but go ahead i'm sorry

i'm kind of in agreement but let me just offer a difference of opinion not that it's mine

what if this is being looked at as inspirational you know what i'm saying like get your

vibrations up get on your [ __ ] so that you could leave the job that you hate that you don't want to be at from nine

to five every day like step your game up type inspirational talk because that's the

thing of today too what i'm saying like everybody is on the entrepreneurial bag everybody on a get

your frequencies up get you this get you that so it is kind of reflective of today in that we trying to push a

and that would be great you get what i'm saying like that's where we are so this could potentially be

pushing that narrative or pushing that message which is in line with her yeah that is

numbers i would have put lemonade on spotify i think act one will be the only

audio aspect um i think act two might be the tour act

three might be a movie netflix there's some netflix [ __ ] coming dope act four might be something different if

there were what would it be an act for okay or if there's the order deluxe might be

wait a minute act two or you know something i notice here it says renaissance formats it says box set as

one of them that's why something tells me this might be like somebody i said it's the most ambitious

album today this [ __ ] might be like some [ __ ] three discs [ __ ] this could be some crazy formats box set digital

download streaming on the site there's four different poses they're called which is the album and it's got like a

t-shirt next to it right we know beyonce is not putting out four albums right do we

she put out two she could put out double she did a double that's not four i'm just we don't know

what beyonce can do what beyonce wants to do it's true i mean and she's had like six years one time joe doesn't

think that uh four new albums from beyonce are coming

beyonce might give you especially if it's a dance project might give you one album of

the music and another one be like an instrumental album without the vocals

it could be something like that too i don't know but she's she's coming and

she's gonna come in a different way everybody move mm-hmm yeah you see [ __ ] started moving

already everybody move it's okay no shame in it nothing wrong not at all it's the respectable thing to do

we all will do it do it just get out the way

i think that um i think the internet is that powerful and i think that most people are

groupies and they just go with the flock so i think that the very first not even

instantly just listen to a thing a couple times people let's do it one time said i don't really want to listen to this like

don't particularly listen to it's not my cup of tea oh this ain't for me i don't really like

this a lot of people felt that way you bought it no oh you didn't but no i

is low for drake it is extremely i don't think so

surprised dark lane demo tapes was a surprise drop and it did kind of the same numbers

yeah that was like a it was called demo tape i think that kind of that's the title

i'm talking about i wasn't treated like an album neither was this surprise drop there was no rollout or

nothing this wasn't true this was not treated like an album

all that he do that good point more life um if you're reading this it's too late

i can call it whatever i want because and i think this is smart on his part

with those other ones if they don't hit certain numbers it don't look it's like oh well this wasn't an album this was a playlist this is this this was that

with this project here he don't have to really hit six seven hundred thousand or

whatever because in the first hour it broke all of apple's dance music uh

category records because dance isn't necessarily a very very i'm not gonna say popular but strong yeah it's not a

strong genre so for him to drop in there yeah of course you're gonna break whatever record they got

and that's a stat right there i could hang my head on it's just streaming numbers it's still a low number for

drake say what you want i would agree i think that if he had two or three bangers and when you first cut the album

on everybody would have went nuts and he would have sold more i think he knew what surprise dropping i

think that if it was three or four real heat rockers on there it would it would have did more numbers

they killed it like they killed it on all social media platforms they killed it so a lot of

people didn't you know [ __ ] are sheep they gonna rock with the flock so

it's my opinion i like park save and that's just not everybody bag especially when you've grown

to be a fan of an artist who made a certain type of music for the better part of a decade more than a

decade yeah more right actually yeah you're right yeah he's like 15 years in what you think about the

number so if he's done a certain type of music for 15 plus years

and then you just completely step off in another direction not saying it's a bad thing but everybody might not roll now

that's gonna have some pros and cons what do y'all think about the fact that it seems like all the big dogs numbers were down across the board i was gonna

say that too this just might be reflective of music kendrick did what 280 uh something like that

jack you don't need a million people to make a million dollars you'll be a lot better off as an artist because

numbers in that sense are capped like how many records you sell is capped how much money did you make off the records

you sold that's what this [ __ ] is about so you can walk around with a platinum plaque and hold your head up high

because that is that is a major accomplishment but you can't eat off that [ __ ]

you there's no check that comes with a platinum plaque if you don't do your business right so you got to decide if you want to be

famous or if you want to be rich because in the music industry and entertainment that is on most levels two totally

different things you don't know the richest people in entertainment you think you know because you've seen people on tv they're nowhere

near the richest people in entertainment puffy hove russell maybe but there's there's eight other people like that you

never heard of clarence avon until they put the movie on netflix this is blind because the man was here instruments

like and i think you get the gist of what he's saying uh what vince staples was saying

uh i don't think it it resonates the way that it needs to when you have the vast majority of

this is going to be a top selling album that means nothing to me but it's going to be a top selling album

this year for sure it's going to be a top five in the releases he spent nothing outside of this video

that ice is talking about and he's under a new deal that's reworked and reconstructed

i can't find a bad thing to say about 2 30. and i can't take it a step further

all the awards shows he's going to clean up in that category oh yeah no question oh yeah yeah he's

is that what does that new deal look like and what do you all think it looks like and

her fouled uh filed a lawsuit in california

uh based on the labor laws i'm not reading this is off my head uh oh here we go i can read it uh

according to legal documents cited by the blast her is suing for the declaratory relief and violation of the

business and pro professions code and seeking to be released from her contract contract with

mbk the lawsuit was filed in the superior court of the state of california and los

angeles county on thursday wilson's releases under the name her all have been released under the mbk logo

and distributed by sony music's rca records it's unclear whether her dispute extends to her management contract with

robinson who previously managed alicia keys what she's saying is

because this is not giving it to me uh what she's saying is in california you can't make somebody work

more than seven years is the same um kanye used this when he was trying to get out of the uh

uh whatever publishing deal it was did that work did that work for him i think they renegotiated or something

if i recall correctly because she's saying that she signed a contract when she was 14 years old

and that contract should have been deaded in 2020 or 2019 something like that

here we go she reported claims had uh she reportedly claims has significantly limited her employment

rights and that she has not been free to provide her recording services except as permitted or dictated by mbk she also

claims the mbk has exclusively owned the right to exploit her name and likeness for her recordings

see this is where i shut up because that sounds normal yeah

it does and it's it's interesting because but if she's saying that contract is up

then that terminates those rights so you should no longer have the right to do those things and i guess that's what the

dispute is it sounds like it probably was it sounds like it was probably

i'm sorry you're good it was probably uh if she was 14 years old brand new artist i know she had like a little bit of a name and buzz around

that time it was probably not a favorable deal at the time and now she's her okay and he's probably trying to

negotiate her way out of it similar to what kanye did with the uh publishing [ __ ] before

see i'm lost on that because okay so you're 14. so i'm guessing your

guardian or someone signed you know you signed this contract yeah and from what i was reading

it says the documents reportedly state that the contract makes her an exclusive employee for an initial period which

ended the later of 15 months after may 19 2011 or 12 months after the

commercial release in the united states of her first album under the contract and up to five additional option periods

for more than one year each so it's like that that that tells me something because she dropped

eps for the first correct five shits it was all eps four minutes she didn't drop her debut album until

two years ago or whatever right like that last album was her first album but even that no

no i thought the first album because at some point amalgamation of all the eps

well that's where this gets tricky yeah yeah it wasn't it was that yeah i put all my eps together and now this is a

full-length project same thing meek was talking about over in atlantic uh same thing meg was talking about with carl

crawford if you are under a production company or just a different

company has access to your rights we have to mutually agree or not

mutually we have to decide whether this is an album or not yes or an ep or

whether this serves to your contract this counts like i was putting out independent project after independent

project my publisher said what that mean we don't have no language on that

and that's a mixtape or some [ __ ] but wait no it's original music well so what

until they call it an album it's not album yeah these definitions change with the sn with the snap of a finger

at the whim of the record label it seems like or production companies yeah but i like to see more artists

being able to go and fight for their rights she also claims that in his role as

manager robinson fired the law firm that first represented her and alleges that robinson caused his own lawyers to

represent wilson in the negotiation of subsequent contracts including publishing and touring

agreements she then alleges that those lawyers took five percent of the deals they negotiated but did not have a written

fee agreement or conflict waiver signed by wilson and said that they performed the

go there for i think if you want your business to thrive in certain places

drownings in the summer i pay attention to that because drowning is one of my top five ways to not
